Hi everyone, just wanted to put up a thread for all those myriad figure skating-related announcements and information that don't really fall under any of the other threads we have right now. We usually have these posted in the General thread, but they do tend to get lost and buried due to the fast pace the thread is progressing. So if you have any figure skating related information that you think will be useful or interesting to other people, for example small ice show events, charities that your fave figure skaters are taking part in, TV show schedules and broadcast announcements, promotional and PR events, etc., please feel free to post them her…

Greetings and salutation from Planet Hanyu everyone! One thing that is often talked about when it comes to Yuzuru Hanyu is just how much he loves figure skating and how devoted to it he is with his entire being. When we created this home for all his fans, we thus in essence created a home for figure skating in general and for all fans of it, no matter who they support. One of the goals of this site is to promote the very thing he, and we, love so much - figure skating itself. This particular section of the site will be devoted to accomplishing that and we hope you'll join us as we talk, celebrate and cry with all the athletes, from all over the glo…

There are so many young Korean ladies in the junior ranks or younger who have shown lots of potential, and of course Cha Jun Hwan who is now training with Orser! I figured we needed a Team Korea thread! In addition, I would love to see more of Queen Yuna as the Olympics approaches. Discuss! :goe:

Canadians have almost 3 spots in all the disciplines, and it doesn't seem to be too tense for any of it? What is going to happen to Patrick's 4F? That's certainly an interesting question. It's a quad he's had before and I admit, I'm curious to see it. The ladies seem to be doing well but Gabby, Kaetlyn and Alaine seem set. Will they up their game though. Virtue and Moir may have snagged the gold in Helsinki but it's going to be much more difficult in PC.

The battle for the spots is about to start. Rippon is back on ice. Jason had two excellent competitions and is announcing a Hamilton SP with two quads. Max is never out of contention but may be the one who is the most impacted by the current PCS vs quad battle. If Nathan and Vincent go, providing Vincent has a decent Seniors season, who will fill the last spot? Ladies are not much better. Will Gracie make a successful come back now that she is with Marina? Is Polina truly returning? Can Ashley still hold it even with a somewhat uninspired season behind her? Can Karen repeat her Nationals title, her rep has certainly risen since saving the 3 spots. Have at it, lad…

Going into the Olympics year, Team Japan has some interesting questions to answer. Do they even qualify for the team event? Nebelhorn, here we come. Who is going to be The Third Man? And the biggest of them all - which two ladies get to go forward to PC 2018? Some slight news about the ladies, Satoko is said to be resuming training on ice in May, so this month, meaning she'll have plenty of time to return to form.

So they may not be active skaters any longer (or they've turned professional) but they have certainly left a big impression on all of us! Let's start with some happy news, yes? Timothy Goebel got married! I must say the original quadster looks good, congratulations to the happy couple! And Kiira Korpi also got married, another lovely couple and congratulations to them too! (thanks Shiro!)

Olympics are upon us! Who is going to come out of the Russian Hunger Games, ladies style, and go to PC 2018? Has Anna buried her chances with WCh 2017 FS meltdown? Is Radio returning? Can Zagitova build up enough rep to get her PCS up by the time Olympics hit? The men are also interesting. Aliev is turning senior. Gachinski may be back. Kovtun had a massive metldown at WTT and while Kolyada seems steady and could progress further, the second spot seems truly up for grabs. Is Russian Ice Dance totally out of the game?

Since I know there are many Javier fans among Yuzuru fans, why not open one for him and all the other skaters who are with countries that don't have a complete set or at least have far fewer competitors in disciplines. Like Ryom/Kim for example, I'm really hoping that we'll end up seeing them during the Olympic games, they're fabulous and it would be such a shame to miss them. Bychenko did great work so Israel will have 2 spots and Samarin can breathe a sigh of relief. Well done Dabin! Will we see Bet introduce that quad? The Australians are doing so well, it's amazing the progress they've made. I hope they manage to get a spot in the team event!

Who will get to PC? For the men, providing Han Yan recovers well, it seems like a no- brainer. Boyang is progressing well (it was really interesting to hear how long he trains during the day) so since he seems to be keeping the SP, there's just the FS to consider. The ladies though, now there I have no idea. Zijun seems to be in a tough spot with the Fed, her PCS during the WCh were a crime, so how all of that is going to be untangled, I have no clue. Chinese Fed may simply decide to push for a younger lady due to 2022. Sui/Han, I would say, probably their biggest gold chance next season.

Not much to wonder about Team Spain, they have one major contender for the upcoming Olympics in Javier Fernandez but in terms of the future, what will happen to Spanish skating after that?
