Shoma's effort today was incredible. That's the most actual emotion I've seen him show during a skate. He was in pain, and it showed, and despite the falls, in an odd way, it made the intensity of his skate (his only actual expression while skating) look very raw and very real. I'm not advocating pain to skate better, mind you, I hoped he'd just let it all go to hell and take care of himself. But for once, his skate's emotion felt completely authentic. Intense, focused, a little desperate, trying so hard with each small victory so hard fought.

yup,that's why it was the first time when i found myself rooting for him,and not only for japan's spots bc kazuki was already high enough in the standings,i really admired his fight

Y'all, can I just say, I dislike nathan's way of skating and how inflated his scores are but goddamn im so thankful at least he delivered, I feel like if disastrous performance won this world it really feels like the day men figure skating died  this men event was embarrassing but at least the winner did jumps 

I just saw the results   and not sure I'll have the guts to actually watch this event

Just watch Kazuki and Deniss. Watch Kazuki last so you can keep the utter joy with you in your heart as you go back out into this scary world where Yuzu is no longer World Champ.

I'd feel that way if it was the jumping competition. He sure won that.

I don't recommend to watch it all. Better choose some skaters like Kazuki, Misha K and Misha Ge, Shoma and watch separately on youtube.

I feel like this is even worse... Maybe if Nathan had bombed, the 100 quad programs would've finally been seen as unhealthy and uneccesary. Now we get praise for an empty "program" that got outlandishly overscored and no sound for the few skaters that actually skated (almost) clean but "easier" programs.
