Omg I am so nervous for the last group... Please Shona dont die... Please Boyang slay me :smiley-love017:

Well Shoma didn't die I guess so that's one of my wishes coming true :13877886: But Boyang, why do you do this to my poor heart? I have no doubt he can come back strong next season (with a well choreographed FS? Please?), I think he was just tired more than anything. He didn't even look sad afterwards, really. But this could have been his moment, he could have given a huge f*** you to all the erasure, and all he had to do was going cleanish at least. Nope, still not over it. Why do I stan people who are out to kill me dead :13877886::13877886::13877886: I'm also slightly scared of what the rule change will do to Boyang's scores, but I'm too depressed to even think about that rn. This event, and most of the season, has me like :13877886::13877886::13877886::13877886:

I didn't think too much about GP assignments. I just expect Yuzuru to have fun and do craziest things next season without worrying too much

yeah I just think it gets people confused if you say "Yuzu and Shoma can't be in the same GP" because like you said, they totally can, there's no actual rule against it ;)

Yep, that's why I asked, I didn't know of any rule :) But totally agree that  JSF would avoid having Yuzu and Shoma for NHK, that makes sense. I still think JSF would NOT pass up a chance to have Yuzu there (unless the powers that be have unknown motivations, which is TOTALLY possible!)

It's JSF that pulled that CoC stunt with the ladies this season.

Yes, yes, I know the reasoning but still. Still.

It'd actually be kind of hilarious if Shoma really wants NHK and then they simply give it to both of them

Nah, no way is he going to skip the GP season.

He's going to be extra pumped too, he had 4 consecutive GPF wins and then had to WD. He wants that back, I can bet on it.

lol as if they'll allow him to win in Canada at gpf....joking aside,i maintain my opinion,i guess we'll have to wait and see.if he ends up doing it,i only hope it will be bc he truly wants to,not bc he feels morally obligated to the japan fans/sponsors etc.

for me,if he competes next season, a fantastic,mind-blowing fs performance(which i think he desperately wanted to produce in PC before the injury hit him and forced him to change his plans, and which he ended up having in PC,just in a different way) for a new world title in Saitama is his true GOAL and also staying healthy to continue his progress with/land the 4A. i would've said 4cc too bc i'd imagine he wants to have wins in all major competitions and that's the only one left, but it's in America next season and it will only happen over usfsa cold dead body,so it'll have to wait another year(altho,he'll probably go there anyway as a test run for the truly important thing).which by the way so can his 5th gpf title if he really wants it.

*it's a big possibility he still hasn't thought the entire thing through to the smallest detail in true yuzuru fashion, and hasn't decided anything yet,but yeah, that's just my gut feeling, that his perspective on things and their importance has been changed (a bit) by his severe injury and by his second OGM.as it should

Better re-watch the entire Olympics than watch this WCh.

Yes! Nathan's hype is not at all something new, and anyway yuzu could get successful Olympics in spite of his hardships..  that's enough. :peek:

Olympics is much bigger event which can attract media and people attentions than worlds, and much deserved.

I'm glad boyang didn't get injury.  Just hope Shoma's recovery...

I'm glad that I don't see this... My sugar and blood pressure would have elevated. I'm just happy for my boy Donovan CARRILLO, make history in the Mexican skating.

Finally got the time to check the protocols and now I am wondering if some of the judges were judging at the cafe outside the arena because I don't think we were watching the same thing

Though I guess it is good that something funny came out of that disaster of a competition

Here's the thing.
That's not really possible without the GP season. If Yuzuru plans to start trying out the 4A right away and I believe he does, he's going to need competitions under his belt. He has always needed time for his new jumps and that one is special to boot. PC worked as both the Chopin and this version of Seimei had stable quads. Even the 4Lz which I am sure he will want to recover needs a lot of legs and that can only be gotten by competing. If he doesn't do the GP season he would literally go from Toronto - > Nationals - > Worlds and that's no where near enough. One single competition before Worlds (or two if the does 4CC which he may not) is a recipe for failure. To add to it, he's bound to have 2 new programs next season as well.

Of course, I'm talking provided he is healthy but let's say that he is. Plus he's competitive, it's who he is. That'll never change. He'll be hungry next season, knock on wood his health is kind to him. He's ruddy well earned it.

Gee, I wonder what we're gonna do with them, there's like no Czech skaters besides Brezina, and is he even continuing?

In the top no - but surely one of the Bělohradský brothers would love to go to worlds^^ And Matyáš's skate at JGP was nice^^

I haven't read all the posts so I'll just write down some impressions from my first live competition in no particular order. Warning: wall text (with gushing and ranting and probably everything has already been said):peekapooh:

I've loved the first 3 groups (or should I say all groups minus the last one?:13877886:), it was amazing that minus Matteo's fall and a few pops it's been basically been a clean competition and I was pleased with myself and thinking I should go to more competitions because I bring luck... unti last group

in hindsight, the last group was just doomed, men clean comps just can't exist in this universe, someone had to pay the price... we merely got the average amount of falls of every competition, but condensed in a single deadly dose :13877886:

The performances I enjoyed the most were those from Michal, Kazuki and Deniss. I liked Slavick music and his committment, Sasha and his redeption for missing olys, Paul GOT and Dima. Overall, only a couple of skates felt really band to me...tho it was hard to bear POTO and MR back to back  it helped that in my mind I had Yuzuru and Tessa&Scott on replay

Overall the skater who absolutely impressed me the most was Deniss.:tumblr_inline_mm2wbaeqQM1qz4rgp: Kazuki too, but Deniss was special. Just so smooth, so committed, so one with his music. Even during pratices, he was the one I enjoyed the most. His pcs are crime against figure skating and judges should feel ashamed.

Keegan was good too, even id he was sad after his skate. ..

And Mika obviously wasn't at his best but still there was no labour in his skating (instead Vincent's was painfully obvious :slinkaway: it really looked he was taking effort to skate and glide...well, he didn't glide really that much...upper body stiff too, posture felt off too...and jumps weren't pretty...). I think Elvis program wasn't good for Mika, during the last section of steps and spins I didn't feel engaged like say, with Michal or even Sasha, beginning was good but then it felt like the emotional crescendo wasn't there. The crowd was a bit subdued in comparison too. About Shoma, I was only praying he didn't hurt himself, his splat in the warm up freaked me out and I was getting emotional at his third fall.

I had many faves and FS I enjoyed going into this comp but you could say Boyang was my sentimental fave in this field and...well. ..he bombed really hard:sadPooh: it was so awful I actually felt detatched and only sighed at his second fall and then I just watched every new mistake with doom and gloom... I guess I understand a little how it feels watching Yuzu bomb live (but that would feel 1000 times worse and I hope I'le never see that and now I'm kinda scared I would jinx him being in the audience:tumblr_inline_mzx91uuLRI1r8msi5:)

I had a bad feeling about Boyang when he wasn't at the pratice, with what he had said about not doing many runthroughs, and gosh his jumps were all on the boards, it was so scary,  he knew he had no space, of course he couldn't land them... but I still find ridiculous Vincent got 3 points more in pcs...like...Vincent did well at olys and got >79 (overscored), he bombs here and gets 76, while Boyang dropped 12 freaking points from his olympic (underscored in comparison to Nathan on the day) performance??????!!!!!! WTF?

But that's how it went for Nathan: he bombed SA and got same pcs than COR. From now on Vincent won't drop lower. And of course Nathan was going to break 90 today with that skate  (tho I was thinking about a more measured 90, not almost 92, so naive:tumblr_inline_mm2wbbdJC51qz4rgp:). Tbh he was really lucky to skate after Vincent (and after everyone else bombed), in the comparison he certainly stood out....problem is, Vincent isn't that much of a comparison tbw... (unless you are Boyang Jin of course, forse judges)

Tbh I was mentally calculating if it could break Yuzuru's record and I thought he could realistically (trying to reason like the judges) reach 220 with 130 TES + 90 PCS....and I wasn't that far... I can't describe how relieved I was not tosee 22..., but I thought it was more than GPF 2015...it wasn't:animated-smileys-hands-fingers-01:...tho probably it was only judge' miscalculations...They really tried hard...I mean,  how on the freaking planet earth you can give Nathan 10 freaking points more in PCS than Deniss? Those pcs should be inverted, judges! :tantrum:

more about Nathan: he was skating without the pressure to deliver but on now super cursed ice, so kudos for him for being that clean! :tumblr_inline_ncmif5EcBB1rpglid:The crowd went wild and clapped each of his jumps and I clapped too, but I felt no real "emotion" besides the "whoa he nailed that too OMG" (it felt even more remarkable after going through 40 minutes of bombing). I don't know if the crowd was really enjoying the performance, to me it felt a different kind of "cheering" from skaters like Matteo, Michal, Kazuki and Deniss(*)

Maybe I'm projecting my feelings,  but it was more a cheer of "release" (relief?) than of enjoyment. My favourite part of the choreo, the start of stsq...it wasn't sharp, it didn't made me excited like I expected. I was waiting to feel "more" from that part at least but again... nope.

that said, it was still an impressive feat from a technical pov, he went for the jumps with an aura of confidence and calm (he had that aura during warm up too)

I'm sure I'm forgetting lots of things and I actually wanted to take notes about my feelings during comp so not to forget a single thing but I was fighting with phone battery :tumblr_inline_ncmifiE3IT1rpglid:

*(Now I have to confess I had to sacrifice Misha for restroom queue :13877886:so sorry...but I had enjoyed his practice with marked jumps...but so sorry, Misha! I kept updated on Deniss' score and Misha's skate while in queue...a girl spied through the drapes:laughing:)

Those 9s  :59227c768286a__s: (and highest TR score /LOL/)

This  s*** just  gives  me a  whiplash. This  is   a crime on a  global  scale. Like  Nathan  wouldn't  have  won  today without  this  crazy  PCS boost??  Are  you  trying  to convince  me his  PCS are on the same  level  as  Yzuru's or   Javi's?   Or  even Shoma's  , when he  completes a skate in   one  piece ? I can't with  this  any more

A couple of thoughts from the stands.

Deniss was a skate of the night for me, he was truly on fire.

Brezina - didn't saw such a good skate from him for a long time.

Dima - music really suits him, did good today, but it was seen that Brezina was faster after him.

Misha Ge also did great.

Kazuki - wonderful debut (though I liked his SP better).

Don't know what happened to Boyang (he jumps dangerously close to the boards). I saw him in the arena hall going to the exit with Misha Ge, he looked fine,  so I just hope it was one time thing.

Nathan didn't got me excited despite all the quads, but well deserved win.

Shoma was a fighter tonight.  I really liked his skate and expression despite all the falls.

Got a photo with Donovan - he's so cute, ahhhhh
