Ice cream.

That's the ticket.

Yeah...Ice cream, and I'll just go watch Seimei again.  That will heal me.

another.lesson for boyang, you can let loose but not that loose. I was suoer suspicious when he lifted his self imposed ban on social media.

I actually thought it was OK since he was using social media before his 4cc's last season too. He just needed a kick in the butt and someone to tell him: This is your shot at the World title! You have to keep going! Papa Brian and Raf would have no problem with that

While I would have loved Boyang to win most of all, I don't think, given Nathan's score, that he would have. Silver though, would've been ez.

You're telling me that Boyang had worst PCS than Paul Fenz? Paul, the only exciting thing about him was skating to Game of Thrones sountrack, Fenz? What?!? That score is brutal.

Well Paul did have a golden hand...... Maybe judges are scared of Lannisters :slinkaway:

I wonder if Brian has any messages on his phone.....

I choose to ignore all media after competitions like this. They skew the results to their own satisfaction and the general public doesn't know any different. I love competition, but hate the hype. I can see for myself how it happened and after 35+ years of watching skating, I"m used to all that stuff.

Yeah, I hope/think the skaters have much thicker skin than we do...

So what I've gathered from this hot mess as a newbie FS fan is that the judging is really screwed up. Can't believe it's 2018 and this is still an issue :13877886:

I know Nathan deserved the gold, but if I were him I'd feel embarrassed about those scores- especially the PCS.

Shame on you ISU :judgmental:

Also, just discovered Tomono recently and I'm so glad he skated well <3 Can't wait to see more of him!

I’m really starting to believe these young ones when they say that Yuzu and Javi really up the atmosphere.  Like I thought they just said it to be polite and say that the veterans would be missed but like dang...the presence of them must get everyone really riled up!

Ehh I'm sure Boyang will bounce back. He knows he effed up and he knows he can do better. This shouldn't weigh him down, this should motivate him.

Shoma's effort today was incredible. That's the most actual emotion I've seen him show during a skate. He was in pain, and it showed, and despite the falls, in an odd way, it made the intensity of his skate (his only actual expression while skating) look very raw and very real. I'm not advocating pain to skate better, mind you, I hoped he'd just let it all go to hell and take care of himself. But for once, his skate's emotion felt completely authentic. Intense, focused, a little desperate, trying so hard with each small victory so hard fought.

ETA: See, I partook of my own offerings.

I'm starting to think 3+ quad programs are not maintainable without Yuzu in the field to shield the pressure and pull everyone up.

and what does that mean for men's FS once he's not there anymore

I enjoyed it a lot more, too. He wasn't just intensefaceintensefaceintenseface either. A lot more softness, perhaps from pain or exhaustion, though. :P Amazing boy to put himself on the line like that.

Okay what country gets how many skaters next year?

3 skaters: US (squiked by because of Max the savor), Japan (you got so lucky Shoma), Russia,

2 skaters: Israel, Latvia(?), Canada (? if Nam didn't even qualify for FS does Keegan's placement in top 10 mean they have 2?), UZB(?)

1 skater: CHINA?!?

I don't know how countries with only 1 skater mean for future positions.
