Guest turquoiseblue
Quote Look at his takeoff of this leap: takeoff from left forward outside edge - land on left forward inside edge Here is the axel: takeoff from left forward outside edge - land on right back outside edge Technical specialists will not mistake this with a legit Axel. Judges do not call out elements, they only give GOE based on the elements that specialists call. So there is no issue here. Link to comment

KatjaThera
I think while it might be a combination of existing jumps/leaps in fs or ballet, the result might just be an original element... I'm no expert, but none of the terms given so far, when compared to other example videos, fully cover the element, IMO (there's the rotation to cover when it comes to ballet leaps, and the details of the rest of the jump when it comes to fs jumps) ETA: 1 minute ago, Paskud said: Oh, I see. And he said, he didn't have ballet classes The thing with this is, in the ballet leap, they leap with the right leg forward and bend the left. Yuzu leaps with the right, rotates and then bends the same right leg, with the left straight, achieving that position, but with the opposite legs and different take off, before landing. fireovertheice
It seems actually an attitude turn (more tha an back attitude leap), like this (oviously adapted to FS and to Yuzu, i.e. with a lot of elevation): https://youtu.be/HcaTGBQHkjE?t=7m43s Link to comment
rockstaryuzu
If anything, the leap looks like the ones used to drop into camel or sits spins, based in leg position. The difference is Yuzu's upper body is upright. We may indeed be looking at a new move. In summary, I think we're in for an explosion of creativity and joy from him. Link to comment

Sammie
Do we have a time when the sp footages are release? I probably be dead asleep then Link to comment

It feels so exciting …. and a bit wild and unpredictable, like when he was younger! He could do anything, he's Yuzuru Hanyu! He has potential to be so powerful in the world of figure skating, now AND when he is no longer competing, he could do so much to further the sport, even address some of the discriminatory practices and inequalities in the sport (he once said in interview that he was going to Waseda because he admired Shizuka who attended there, and he hoped to be as socially aware as she was....) Oh Yuzu, I have such BIG plans for you lol!!! "Revolution on Ice" could take on a whole new meaning!! Ooops, think I'm moving a bit off topic so I'll stop! Link to comment

Whee1000
Highly probable this has been said before, but I’m going to say it again: can you imagine being a choreographer and working with someone like Mr Hanyu? Of course he has input, but on the whole, what a gift to have someone who can actually execute what you dream of. And for him, to have people who can put his dreams into a program. Rare and special, I think. The stars aligned for this. Link to comment
airi
The SP looks amazing There's no way I'll be awake when they do the interview, but I'm looking forward to waking up to it 1 hour ago, Anony said: He took off left and landed left instead of right like he would if he was doing an axel so unless there was a particularly terrible tech panel which is very possible he should be fine But, even if some judges thought that's the axel (seriously, though? they shouldn't be judging then...) it is allowed to do jumps up to 2 revolutions, that are not counted as actual jumping passes - or did it change with the new rules and I missed it? Anyway, I always thought a program with delayed axel would be cool but I guess it's still a hard jump, and doing it in choreo sequence or sth would be really unnecessary. Link to comment

ruruzest
Longer version( or not) but it’s so beautiful and makes my heart tremble watching it ( echoed Yuzu’s words on watching his idols’ s programs. I wonder who would pay tributes to Yuzu later on ( wait , little skaters did copy his Seimei costumes) and I doubt it would ever come close to his iconic programs in styles. Link to comment
