  1. I really enjoy EH Shepard’s illustrations. He also did Wind in the Willows- very charming. Yes, it would be great if Yuzuru could go!
  2. Although I get teary when I hear it, Barber’s Adagio for Strings is beautiful and should it ever be considered for a skating program I could not imagine anyone other than Yuzuru doing it. I know nothing about music but there is a part a few minutes in when the key changes(or maybe tempo?) and the music rises and you can imagine the sun coming out from behind clouds, and I can think only Yuzu would be able to transmit the emotion of that moment. ( ok , and maybe Jason B.) anyhow, happy Friday all!
  3. I think it’s a bit like this. The “going to the ancestral homeland/find your roots” type of theme, which may draw in some viewers. People love this sort of thing ...look at the popularity of DNA kits and family tree sites. (Although Chinese folks may not give a hoot about the skaters’ ancestors! I don’t really know.)
  4. Yep, I don’t doubt he’s got plans within plans, as does Yuzu.
  5. Can you imagine how much more irritating this would all be if Nathan came across as an insufferable, ungracious and arrogant individual? (“Yeah, I know I’m the best, I wiped the floor with Hanyu, he’s overrated and over the hill anyways, he should retire.”) I know I don’t know what he is “really” like but well, his demeanor so far is quite civil and appreciative of the great athletes he competes against.
  6. This blue costume (and the pink robe and the white/ gold frilly jumpsuit thing) kind of remind me of how the Japanese imperial family is dressed - undoubtedly using high quality fabric and technique, but with designs that to me seem so...old fashioned. Like they are the dream fashions of someone who grew up in the 1950s who still thinks this is how “fancy people” should dress. (In Yuzu’s case, someone who grew up on the 1970s and liked Liberace. )
  7. This is fantastic, and I’m so happy you all got to meet each other! Looks like a lot of positive energy there!
  8. I like Yuzus pink shirt! Also, just like to say that it’s so nice to see and be a part of this friendly and cordial group. It’s relaxing to have a pleasant place in which to spend a few minutes (or more). Many thanks to all.
  9. Good for him! He seems to be blessed with a Yuzuesque physique as well!
  10. I read that as "with chocolate hair." I think it's time for lunch! But as long as I'm here: I don't think he'd look good with brown hair, it wouldn't be so dramatic. Now blue or purple hair, that would be extraterrestrial!
  11. People can dismiss FS as "Oh that poofty 'sport' where they just make circles on ice and wear ruffles" but please: look at the strength and balance needed to do THAT. On a thin piece of metal...while moving....backwards. OT: To all the mothers out there (whether of children, fur children, dragons, etc.) wishing you a Happy Mother's Day. (May 12 in the US)
  12. Your consideration sort of reminds me of a title which has always intrigued me :"Prima Ballerina Assoluta." Prima ballerina assoluta is a title awarded to the most notable of female ballet dancers. To be recognised as a prima ballerina assoluta is a rare honour, traditionally reserved only for the most exceptional dancers of their generation.
  13. His figure is just so aesthetically pleasing. I live in the US and in my area the "pumped up" and "burly teddy bear" looks are still popular; to see a figure like Yuzu in his sleek UA gear or Origin costume... you literally cannot take your eyes off of him. It's almost unreal. I hope that doesn't sound creepy.
  14. @micaelis hope all goes well! The planet will be waiting for you!

Yes, I think it would be helpful to know a bit ahead of time when the contract is up for renewal, we can budget for the Planet! May I add my thanks for all your work and time in keeping this planet in orbit!
  16. Pretty fantastic! I like that one dot in the middle of Brazil. Who are you, oh satellite in the middle of Brazil? (I know it's not a pinpoint accurate map, but there are no other dots around....it's a lone satellite.....supporting Fanyu-ism....)
  17. You know, I know it sounds poetic but gosh, how many years has his family been separated because of his career, and how many more years are they going to continue to be separated? Now he wants to do quad+everything, and, as it’s been said before, how long is his mom going to be ok with being away from her family? He’s got his goals, but they seem to be partly contingent on her being around to take care of him. I know it’s her choice, but on the other hand, if she decided to leave Canada and then Yuzu decided to quit, I’m sure there would be many conflicting feelings. So maybe she feels she doesn’t really have a choice. All assumptions and conjecture to be sure, guess I had too much coffee late in the day. But it’s hard to be away from family, especially as your parents get older. @Henni147Just to clarify, this is not a criticism of your thought. It just made me think of all the years his family has supported him since he started, etc.
  18. People, this speaks truth. (Now excuse me, i have to go wash my velvet tracksuit and make an appointment for my next perm.)
  19. LOL I remember after PC, I was all fired up about how Yuzu made me want to do things better, be less lazy, stop procrastinating, try new things, etc. Well, all that went away around February. So Yuzu isn't the only person who needs to relight a fire to lead onwards and upwards!
  20. Useless speculation but I’m going to do it anyway: I wonder if he misses having an official team senpai like reliable Mr Mura around. Kind of how Shoma misses Yuzu. I know Shoma likes the reduced attention he gets when Yuzu is around, but there’s a comfort when someone higher ranked than you is around because you think, “oh they will handle it/ are better prepared to deal with it.” i still think of Javi as a peer to Yuzu,
  21. @micaelisHappy belated birthday! I'm not so terribly far behind you in age, and yes: the physical things that didn't bother you not 5 years ago can lay you out flat today. In thinking about Yuzu and his skating, I found a Japanese saying: "Mono no aware" which means " the awareness of impermanence or transience of things, and both a transient gentle sadness (or wistfulness) at their passing as well as a longer, deeper gentle sadness about this state being the reality of life." So the theme of sakura --deeply cherished for its short but beautiful time -- is very appropriate here. That being said, we are still all here, from all corners of this earth, and so let's enjoy this springtime. Ours, Yuzu's, everyone. (Yeah, feeling contemplative today. Need more coffee.) Edit: Not saying Yuzu is past his prime, giving up, incapable of improvement, etc. He just has to adjust as things change. I hate change but he's made of stronger stuff than I am!)
  22. I'd wager that's just part of it. The other part: Judges looking because Javi and Yuzu are easy on the eyes.... And staying out of the sun. And being in a humid and cool environment. Delay those wrinkles, blotchy spots and sagging!
  23. Very well put. Those who inspire us stay with us. *I'm a person who does not watch/follow Yuzu all the time, but who still sometimes thinks "What would Yuzu do?" when confronted with something I would prefer to slack off about.*
  24. I don't know what "line stamps" are. Are they images of him in a line and printed on tape, like a washi tape design?
