[2018] GP NHK Trophy - Men SP & FS

Uh, the TC was Locatelli, the same of the last Oly. Still only 4S called UR for Shoma...mmm. I will rewatch but to me also the 4F was UR, at least following this season rules. Happy for Voronov, sorry for Dima, congrats to Matteo (still, he has to learn to be faster and to jump consistenly his quad).

[2018] GP NHK Trophy - Ladies SP & FS

I had not time to thank you before 'cause I wanted to look at least at the latest competitors: I do it now I am so happy for Rika: I love her skating and the programs she has this year (the FS more than SP, though). I hope that she can be consistent and she can grow in some of the PCS departments with time (but I am sure she will). I loved Satoko, whose programs are some of the best of this season too: I think that at the moment she is the best female skater in the PCS field for at least IN and PE. The jumps are a little better, especially in the first part of the program, but we all know all her issues and they are very difficult to solve at this poin of her career. Still kudos for trying. I love also the attitude of Liza and her jumps but her skating leave me always a bit cold, for the choices of music and programs and also cause I don't feel any kind of projection or connection between her and us /the public. It was so also back in her "winning all" year so... I have not seen all the others so I hope I will find the videos on YT or elsewhere later. Thank you again for the links and the comments here: they have been useful to understand a bit what was going on when I had not video streaming available.

[2018] GP Helsinki - Ladies SP & FS

This is strange, however: it's not the same arena where they had the practices? From the video of practices leaked till now, there was no evident problem with the ice though...

  11. I just hope Seimei will stay, not only because I like it and I currently use it, but because the meaning of the program in Yuzuru's career and in his general idea of skating. Anyway the same I can say from other points of view for Chopin and H&L.

[2018] GP Skate America - Men SP & FS

Well, after rewachting with fresher eyes the FS performances of some of the men, these are some of my thoughts: - Nathan: I still prefer his SP, like last year; frankly what bothers me are not only his landings and his stiffness (sorry but for me this is important), but the fact that there are almost no transitions, also with a program not so difficult for his standars (and for top six men standards). The only good point is that this year the Choreo sequence at least is not just a spread eagle, but this is at the moment the only interesting part of the program IMHO. -Julian: so sorry for him; I had hoped for a podium after that nice SP -Vincent: I am so sorry for him because it seems he doesn't realize properly which is his particular problem, and the coaching team is not really helping him. I hope he will understand and try to start again with a new coach as soon as possible, if he really want to have a chance for Bejing 2022. -Matteo: ha has potential, and I feel it's almost a miracle for an Italian man, but he has to learn properly to jump quad and higher jumps in general. At least to spend some time abroad working on this. Frankly no program has been oustanding for me, differently from SP (and also from ladies SP).

[2018] GP Skate America - Men SP & FS

I have to say that I like the SP of Nathan, but mostly because I recognize the touch of Shae Lynn, my favourite coreographer in the last years because in most case she is able to find some original moves and a way to enhance the quality of the skaters; and for the most talented skaters she created very beautiful program: I find her coreographies - and sometimes choices of music - very "refreshing" and modern (on the contrary of DW....), and it's so also in this case. I hope that Raf and Nathan will not ruin it too much further in the season, like they did with "Nemesis". About Nathan I wait to say something when will be more into the season, but looked a little bit better in SS and IN, still stiff in the jumps and lacking in TR dpt., also if the axel was better than most of his axels last year (or after FS, that as program I find much more boring this year anyway). About Vicent I wonder really if Tom & Co. believe what they are saying... the Lutz and the axel were UR also to me, we can discuss about the Flip but if you look at the landing foot and the trace on the ice, it's not so much different frome the axel. And I am a little tired of "Exogenesis" maybe because it's used by a lot of juniors too this season. I have still to find a video of Julian: do you have a link? Thanks a lot in advance.
