Jason might be tired, but at least he'll be minimally exposed! And, well, he can just get a non costume, like from the Gap or something. Not like many of the others have real costumes either, lol! I think I heard on last night's broadcast that Bradie would not be petitioning for a spot on the Olympic team... Alysa has competed this season and gotten some results, while Bradie has been mia, right?

I think there are probably repercussions if you withdraw at short notice without some kind of medical reason or maybe a very serious personal issue or something.

January 8, 20224 yr The technical level of US women is weak. Mariah doesn't even have a triple-triple combination (she tried one in the short program but it was underrotated even if it wasn't called by the technical panel). In fact only four skaters went for a triple-triple combo in their free skates. But not just the jumps, the lack of content in their programs and their weaker skating skills show they are far behind the Japanese, Korean and Russian skaters. Even with her UR problems I preferred Karen to Mariah today because she has better programs, skating skills and performance. I think she deserved higher PCS than Mariah but judges wanted Mariah to win here. The new narrative for Mariah is that she is the oldest US champion in the past 95 years and she is a fan of Liza Tuktamysheva, but at least Liza has 3-3 combination, and 3A too. It just shows the weakness of the field when one can be champion without 3-3. Two years ago the narrative was that Alysa could beat the Russians with her 3A and quad...so the narrative depends on who is the winner.
January 8, 20224 yr Holding this competition after so many positive tests (in the middle of competition!) is completely insane. I'm laughing and crying at the same time. I hope everyone else is safe, but I doubt it, honestly. They all had contact with each other there. It's crazy the event wasn't canceled yet.

January 8, 20224 yr US team situation is funny right now (if I can say so with so many COVID cases) because of team event. Because the two disciplines that will most change skaters between SP and FP will be men (because so close to individual event) and ice dance. So it looks like Mariah will do both.😂
