Looking at this lot with their Lutzes galore, I wonder if he will have to make that change realistically?? (I love the Sal there though, it's so beautiful...) highly doubt yuzu will change anything from his last national layout. even with his fs, i dont think he will upgrade any jump. over the past few seasons, the experiments with changing layouts were mostly unsuccessful. He did well whenever he stuck to the same layout he is most comfortable with bc of muscle memory. The 4S 4T3T 3A layout has been most reliable for him and it fits the music for rondocapu. I think the game of bv just doesnt work for him and he isnt rewarded the same way other skaters are. Plus even if he did land 4flip in practice theres a slim chance he would land it at the olympic. He needs to skate clean in the sp to have enough confidence to jump 4A in the free. I doubt he'd risk a fall, theres too much at stake at the olympic. I think he just has to do what hes been training for. Its out of everyone's control at this point so id rather see Yuzu skates clean and well and just land that 4A. If he doesnt win with that then it is what it is.

I always wonder aloud about stuff, but I notice how definite other satellites are about things relating to Yuzuru's programmes, is it something he has said, or something you know just from experience of FS and/or being a fan? Sorry if it sounded like that, didn't mean it. Obviously I can't say I'm certain of that, I actually don't like to do it if something is definitely impossible, but in this case it's pretty close. He can rely on this layout, putting a jump he never tried in competition before, in the short program at the Olympics doesn't sound like a good idea. With a clean short he's got a shot, and only then... But really those are only my thoughts, I don't actually remember if he said something about it, he definitely said that he can't put more quads in the free if he's going for 4A (like lutz/flip), but don't know if he talked about short program layout
January 8, 20224 yr Okay haven't watched Nathan's SP yet but he got 4.87 GOE on his opening 4F and that seems ridiculously high.
January 8, 20224 yr Saw some clips of some of the guys' jumps. All of Nate's look shakey, the Lz doesn't seem to be round, the lack of running edge is not pleasant to see and his axel looks so tiny (did he step up his prerotation game or sth?). Vincent's has obvious Ur, of cos no call, but there is at least running edge. Ilia's jumps look secure and confident but his knees are really stiff. He gotta do sth about it or he might end up with knee and hip issues soon enough. Jason gotta teach the top 3 how to bend their knees. Speaking of Jason, his Sinnerman is much praised but it seems to me he has more two-footed skating in it than in the previous program.

January 9, 20224 yr I think we all worry about nathan but theres also a chance it would be us 1 2 at the olympic. with vincent's recent consistency, as long as his jumps wont get called they could really just score him as high at the olympic as well. they are really going to push harder for the US men to medal since the women literally stand zero chance against the russian ladies.
January 9, 20224 yr Alysa slays LOL. She reminds me of Ito-san when she responded to criticism of her costumes being too "feminine," to which she pretty much replied "I respect your opinions but I don't give an effing f*** about it" 😂 Unrelated but this is the level of girlboss Kaori should be pulling, not that mess of a free program that Benoit gave her. This is to say that She.Must.Bring.The.Piano.Back for world's peace!!!!!
January 9, 20224 yr My problem with Nathan's SP (GOE aside): 1. 4Lz3T-->4Lz<3T if not 4Lz<< 2. StSq4-->StSq3, Rocker in second cluster into flat edge and also cause problem for the counter that follows 3. FSSp4-->FSSp2 Not into basic position within first 2 revolutions after difficult flying entry No 8 revolutions for SF position
January 9, 20224 yr So, I know this is going to be a wildly unpopular opinion, but: Nathan's La Boheme is his best SP yet, and he keeps getting better at skating it. The scoring at US Nats is an absolute joke, that's a given. However, I really want to see Rondo and this particular version of La Boheme go up against each other with neutral judges scoring it, and see what the result would be. I think Yuzu would still win, but it would genuinely be an interesting match.

I actually think it is a fine program on the performance and interpretation side when he truly performs and not nervy and runs behind the music. Arm choreo and music cuts for the most part are nice too, one of SLB's better pieces. My problem with it tho is on the technical side (aside from jumps, which are not that good at Nats). Really empty with a whole lot of twofooted skating and crossovers and without excellent SS, flow and spins to boost. Rondo wins in my book because it has all. As it is, La Boheme should be performed as an exhibition piece and not competition, not if it is tentative, nervy on PE and IN and lacking in everything else.

Do you have screenshots of the jump? Ah but his sit spin. He should not get any points for that one.
January 9, 20224 yr It really bothers me that when Nathan lands his jumps, his free leg always touches the ice almost immediately and then he would turn his body and do some “choreo”; it’s like he cannot keep a running edge AT ALL with his right foot, it’s like a “cover” for an unstable landing. Meanwhile people call him the “quad king” and supposedly he has the best jumps which is so far away from the truth. It makes me so mad!
