April 25, 20215 yr It seems sacrilege to say this but.....judging by the content on social media, it seems a lot of the attention has gone on Yuzu's opening solo rather than on his LGC (which is an SP masterpiece, and I think he has shown such skill and control skating it at SOI on a small rink - some people have complained that he has had to slow it down because of that, but I just think what skill he has to do that and still skate it beautifully, land gorgeous jumps (tiny blip today at end of combo), and keep all the elements and steps beautifully timed and attuned to the music, AND emote and look gorgeous in the White pants too!) ..... but the opening solo though!!!! Glad it's now time to move on from Yokohama where infection rates are higher and onto the less effected north of Honshu. I was disappointed in how covid security was managed in Yokohama, having generally had great trust in how Japanese people (not necessarily government) are dealing with the pandemic. It seems that fans maybe just cant resist a chance to see him....which I sort of get, but it's still not the right thing to do. But I cant cast stones, because what would I have done if I'd had a ticket I wonder?? I do think about the issue Yuzuru raised, about unemployment, people's hardships, and that many ppl relied on these shows going ahead. He tries hard to see the bigger picture always. He looked relaxed and happy which is always wonderful for us his fans to see. Tough decisions have to continue to be made so we wont see an end to this, just hope the best knowledge about the virus leads to effective management of each situation. I also wonder if Yuzuru has had the vaccine? It is very highly effective at preventing serious disease and hospitalisation, 100% in one of the studies done (well afaik Pfeizer and Astra Zenica have had these studies done). My young adult daughter had her vaccine early due to asthma, maybe he will have had his too? I hope he has. I hope the athletes will have been doing regular lateral flow tests too as part of managing risk.

One can't even say they've had to face particularly huge expenses for covid prevention, since they couldn't even bother with things like marking seats as it was done at WTT... On a more trivial note, no wonder there were storng Patrick flashback LMAO not only it was something he could have worn, he had literally done that! some comments are so funny What is the source? I thought Yuzuru's solo part had strong self-choreo vibes, so I'm curious if she did the steps and general pattern (also for other skaters) and just told Yuzu "do what you want" or she had suggestions I miss FaOI (also, the lightheartedness of iceshows pre-pandemic in general) and the ICONIC FaOI opening too, but gotta say that Blinding lights managed to be a good substitude (rather unexpectedly for me, since I didin't had many expectations in SOI). Now, how to stop replaying that song in my head... the ending song, the one for the bows, is so good too. Also, I should have known that Yuzuru would have made anything cool anyway (despite making me suffer from second-hand embarassment) can you believe that he did all of that nowing perfectly well it would be broadcast all over? well, it's at times like this that I remember he's a huge fan of Plushenko's sex bomb... thoug now I'm imaginging Yuzuru practicing the moves at home in the mirror and it's hilarious (though probably it was in hotel room alone, no exasperated relatives having to put up with it) It's been only a...wait just one week from WTT? It feels like soft, otherwordly, ethereal Hana wa Saku happended ages ago... Yuzuru really said "yeah let's go craaaazyyyyyyy", and in matter of a few days brainwashed me into doubting softYuzu ever existed (well,of ourse there's a bit of soft Yuzu in the finale, but the outfit kinda changed his vibes there LOL) I wonder if he's letting it all out now so he can happily go and change SP and skate to piano music again As usual, thank you everyone for all the links I hope all attendees (and of course the skaters, and of course Yuzu) are safe. Now time for rewatching and hoping that Hachinoe will stress me out less (I've read local population is very worried about people who'll travel there ) this is what I've read So it's 10k, thanks. It's a lot for Shirt on Ice. *sobs because FaoI: Shanghai was supposed to be 18k*
April 25, 20215 yr Ahhh is today's stream gonna be broadcast on iSakura later today or is it *only* backstage stuff?
April 25, 20215 yr It made me laugh that they gave us 7 and a half minute of slo-mo footage and I wasn't about to let it go to waste!! So here: This post has been tagged by Fay as [NEWS].

I hope the athletes will have been doing regular lateral flow tests too as part of managing risk. Sadly, the Japanese government has catastrophically failed to manage the pandemic situation and its policies are the worst among the OECD countries. The govt was too slow in getting into the fight for vaccine supplies last year - when Prime Ministers and Presidents were all speaking directly with Pfizer CEO to push for contracts, Japan only had their ministry bureaucrats following up with these companies to secure supplies. Now at end of April Japan has only received tiny portion of supplies to vaccinate less than a fifth of health workers. But govt insisted on starting to vaccinate the elderly now, just to meet their declared "target" from a few months ago, but it's sadly a joke: e.g., they had enough supplies to vaccinate around 2000 (yes, two thousand} elderly persons in one large ward (district) in Tokyo (12 million plus population). Are you kidding me? Japan's vaccination rate stands at 1 percent and barely moving each day, behind India in vaccination rate AND in testing rate! It's unlikely Japan will start to receive large batches of vaccines until the end of summer (hello Olympics?)... And as Japan goes into emergency status (not quite a lockdown), testing rates have NOT picked up. Blocked by the Ministry of Health's public health authority - which wants to retain control over the testing regime. So sadly there is no way Yuzu will have been vaccinated - and he will definitely not skip the queue being an ethical person that he is... Given all the mishandling of Covid situation in Japan, I think Yuzu should go back to Canada this summer where he will definitely be able to get vaccinated. Canada was slow at the start - but is rapidly catching up now on vaccination. I am in BC, Canada and got my appointment for vaccination for next week. Yay! But I am extremely worried about my family back home in Japan...

They only mention backstage stuff but the program is hour long, so maybe they show some programs too. I have seen mentions that it shows only in Kanto area, but it is still listed on iSakura. So we will see when the time comes, I guess. Just want to warn beforehand if they don´t show it on iSakura. Hopefully some kind fanyu in Kanto will download it in that case.
April 25, 20215 yr Here is Kao Miura tweeting after the show. He is grateful for the opportunity to be close to the top skaters and he will do his best to improve his performance and catch up to the top level skaters. He has a great Sempai as his role model! e has

So here: yay! thank you for the edit (and the HD!) the way they could have just given us the extra footage and alternative angles in normal speed, but they chose to slow mo all of it,instead.... but you know what's that strikes me the most, when rewatching in HD? That Blinding Lights might actually refer to Yuzu's shiny top (and ok, pants). Sparkles sparkling! It looks so cool (a lot cooler than it would have with a non-sparkly outfit) Also, the people sitting close to the entrance as the opening starts, sitting there with clasped hands (probably making a superhuman effort not to scream) by the way, @Wyell it was you who added some day3 footage (around 5:40-6:20), or was already like this in the broadcast? What made me notice that is that after the hydroblade there's the SE into simil besti squat with swinging edge. Today instead there was the head flick SE (You can tell that I've rewatched the clips quite a lot. 🙈🙈 In my defense, the swinging motion is one of my fave things going on in the LMEY 3A entry, so it caught my eye)
