April 25, 20215 yr I have to say: SOI had its good moments, but I can't help - I miss FaOI. 1. The cool FaOI theme song at the opening 2. The sparky colorful patchwork costumes 3. The hit-and-miss live bands 4. The glamour factor 5. And most importantly: the mature, adult skating performances by the likes of Shizuka, Jeff, Stephane and so many others. I rewatched Day 2 with mom yesterday. Rika did really well. Kaori's 2A cascade was spectacular, too. But my personal highlights were Yuzu and Mura. They just have something in their skating and presence that the others don't. At least not yet. Something that elevates them to pro level and it was a pleasure to watch

Something that elevates them to pro level and it was a pleasure to watch IL Volo was supposed to perform Notte Stellata live at FaOI last year, but it got canceled. It was the right thing to do because of the pandemic and they're doing the right thing again this year by canceling (unlike some ice shows), but when they can hold FaOI safely again, I hope they can schedule IL Volo again.
