I saw the news too and seems like the kick ice part at the final number is suggested by Yuzu? I'm watching the digest now but I think my pass for Japannet TV will end any moment now. Only got the 3 day pass and I recall subscribing it to it only past midnight on Friday. Hope someone will download Yuzu cut from sakuraTV. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS]. He did really choreograph his opening solo himself. Oh I long to see the day Yuzu becomes a choreographer, for himself or others. I wonder if those skaters can realize his vision... Re the part about wanting the choreo to look good from all directions. I distinctly remember him saying in some interview that FS differs from other performing arts in that FS performance has to look good in 360⁰ so he has always been very mindful of that. 1 hour ago, yumeaki said: I can't believe my 3 days Japannet TV pass allows me to stream past the 3rd day. Yuzu showed his bruise on his leg from his 4A practices. I think it's from the WTT ex rehearsal but I expect this is what he has on his legs MOST OF THE TIME. In the Spon*chi min by min report of the gala practice, Yuzu took a break, went to the rest area, pulled his pant leg up and wrapped his knee. It could be because of the 4A practice and the thing we saw in this footage. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

If they make it available internationally, as some other events in Japan have, they'd make a fortune. They could sell merchandise by mail order as well. It could be really successful. I really hope they'll do this in future instead of taking the massive risks they're taking with this tour. International shows may involve more copy right problems. Although Yuzu has many fans internationally, his main fan base is still in Japan. Do you have some examples for similar shows held successfully without audience?

I'm not an expert but I do believe masking is very crucial for preventing the spread of virus. I live in a (if not THE) most crowded city in the world. We take crowded public transportation everyday. Our major virus prevention policy is simply reduce the chance of people expose to each other maskless (i.e.reducing chances of spread in restaurants and bars and sports facilities). Social distancing is not really implemented because it is not quite feasible. However we don't have major lock-down (yet) so it gave me some hope that the spread of virus is actually controllable when everyone is masked and pay attention to disinfection, like in SOI. I also see a post from a Hong Konger living in Japan who went to SOI today. She said audience are generally quite aware of self-protection, everyone masked and not touching each other. And it is not as bad as she thought. She found it actually acceptable to her. If possible, of course the SOI should have at least keep some distance between the audiences, like what they did in WTT and JNs. They went for the worst option. But I also understand ice shows can hardly be held without audience. I believe many ice shows staffs have already been jobless for more than one year and for young athletes who don't have other sources of income, it must be very hard. I don't think we should blame them for holding ice shows, but I do think they could have done better. I also live in Hong Kong, I have to agree that it feels like the spread of the virus is controllable based on our experience. I mean, you guys should see some of the crowds I have to walk through to get back from work, but our cases are still very low and have been that way for almost the entire duration of the pandemic. It sometimes feels hard to reconcile my experience here with other people's elsewhere--I mean, HKers are very good about masking, but we can't be that much better than others at controlling the virus, especially now that people have gotten the memo about masks, can we? Maybe we have better contact tracing or something, or maybe other places don't disinfect surfaces as regularly, or I don't know. Because I see people playing basketball on crowded courts, thronging the streets in the shopping areas to the point where you have to fight your way through if you want to get to places, standing centimeters apart in long queues, squeezed up against each other on the MTR, but also less than 20 cases per day (we had like, 3 today)--so it's hard not to feel like it is perfectly possible to run an event like SOI without causing an uptick in cases. I mean, if people living in North America literally went back to living life exactly like they had pre-pandemic, they would still be much more socially distanced than us right now just because of density. So I guess I feel more sympathetic to the idea that it's possible to run events safely. Now do I trust people to do that? No. I certainly think people should be masked at all times, and all things considered I would prefer that if these events run, they events run without an audience and for the skaters to wear masks in group numbers. But it's also hard for me to feel like the risk is so great that damage to people's livelihoods can just be dismissed out of hand. Now, I don't know what Japan's socioeconomic breakdown is, but I think it's important to remember in general that a lot of people live in precarious financial situations and might struggle to keep a roof over their head if they go a month without income--like, that's not a trivial amount of hardship, not at all. I could very well see why someone would rather go to their job and risk getting sick than stay at home and face the certainty of running out of money to feed their kids, and I don't think I'm in any position to be judgmental about someone in that kind of situation. I suppose, all in all, I don't think the cost/benefit calculation is as clear as some people make it out to be, both because I think the economic hardship is more serious than some seem to suggest, and because it's hard for me to believe that the risks can't be significantly mitigated, based on my experience in Hong Kong. So I think this is something that reasonable, compassionate people could come to different assessments about, and I don't think people are stupid or heartless for holding a different opinion.

So he did...everything There are some elements from LMEY (the highkick, the SE followed by the change of edge in day3) and some moves that remind me of his previous high energy programs, and then he also clearly put to use his more recent studies /////covid 4 hours ago, Umebachi said: I am praying for Yuzu and all the skaters to stay healthy during the show season. The variants are exploding around Japan and although the north has been relatively spared, it is catching up. Miyagi has been hit hard and no longer a safe haven that it was.... Despite having faced distribution issues earlier, Ontario seems to be really ramping up and I would guess (@rockstaryuzu would know better) by end of July (when Yuzu would usually arrive in Toronto) Ontario might be close to herd immunity? I expect the province will be offering vaccination to all the residents by summer time. This assume, ofc, that there will not be further disruptions in supplies. Also, Canada has entered into new contracts with Pfizer for the third dose which includes adaptation to the new variants, and the government is investing heavily in its own national vaccine production capacity (a bit late but still...) - positive developments in this dark times. Meanwhile, back in Japan, the government hasn't been able to show evidence of actual contract with Pfizer regarding the delivery schedule - only promissory notes/ expression of interest so far. Not legally binding. Fumbling around - the responses of the Minister of Health at the parliamentary hearings is embarassing. Really embarassing. I have worked with Min Health bureaucrats as part of my work (health policy analysis) and I'm sorry to see that my past worries about the declining ability of their staff to undertake quantitative analysis has been justified. Ooof. @Pammi Yes, Japan's case and death rates have been very low, around 1/10 or less of Canada and UK. This had made the government complacent and they relied completely on citizens taking the responsibility of social distance and masking. They had more than a year and still we don't have rapid PCR testing system in place - when other countries now have self-admin quick tests, which may not be as accurate but allows very massive rapid testing that will help to identify and reduce risks quickly. Now they are asking for emergency measures - closing of restaurants, bars, theatres etc - once again with no end in sight and no vaccine in the near future - and what is worse, absolutely no financial assistance to any of the enterprises. Many restaurants and stores are now declaring bankruptcy, closing shop saying that they managed to survive the last emergency period due to the very meager financial assistance offered by the govt, but now they can't hold o any more. We have many many single mothers who losst their temp jobs and kids are going hungry. NGOs can't keep up with the massive number of children going hungry - in Japan - where we don't have massive Food Banks like the USA. And all this suffering and misery is what Yuzu is referring to. But what will probably bring down this government - and probably lead to cancellation of the Olympics - is the collapse of the health system and the boycott by the medical professionals. A few days ago, around 100 nurses and doctors resigned en masse from one of the largest hospitals in Japan - protesting the cruel and abusive workig conditions. Although Japan's case numbers have been low relative to other OECD countries, the Japanese healthcare system is already close to collapse, due to the very low number of doctors and squeeze on health care budget over the last decade or more (this was my area of policy analysis at OECD which produces the health statistics for member states, including Japan - see OECD Health at a Glance publication). Currently, Osaka reports more than 100% occupancy rate for ICUs and hospital beds are being repurposed for Covid only and all elective surgeries/treatments are being delayed. Many people in Osaka are reporting that their family members dying at home while waiting for hospital beds to open. The case numbers are definitely underestimated. We will have to wait for the excess death rates compared to previous years in order to evaluate actual magnitude of covid-related deaths. Apologies for the looong rant! I had to get this off my chest and share. I'm so sorry for Jpn people 1 hour ago, JanMary said: International shows may involve more copy right problems. Although Yuzu has many fans internationally, his main fan base is still in Japan. why there would be copyright issues if they merely allowed people without jpn phone number or other similar requirements to buy virtual tickets though? Genuine question, I cna't think of a reason. One can already subscribe to jpn tv from other countries, and sometimes they can buy merch and tickets too without a proxy, so I don't think that selling virtual tickets to a jpn iceshows to int fans would have been that difficult (it merely required a website able to process payments from int credit cards and possibly with an english page, either thing shouldn't be too hard for a company like IMG in 2021. It looks like they didn't even think about that, just like they didn't think to arrange seatings to make sure people sat distanced like at WTT (and already WTT should not have happenend, as the state of emergncy, conveniently (for organizers and ISU) declared 1 week after the event proves. Certainly profit with all or mostly virtual tickets would have been slimmer than what they've got - selling so many tickets to live audience AND also selling virtual tickets - but it would have been a sensible thing to do, in current situation. If SOI had it happened in a situation of low cases, empty ICU, fine. But rght now covid situation is very very bad, and non essential travel should be limited. In this situation, insisting on crowding like that an indoor arena, even if with fully masked people, is hard to understand. If DOI, an ice show that certainly drew less interest than SOI (since no Yuzuru, iirc no Shoma nor Rika either) could be held with mostly virtual tickets and only a reduced audience in the arena, I don't see why SOI, with its bigger names and TV rights couldn't generate enough revenue even further reducing audience. Ngl, I wish Yuzu had taken a different choice on SOI, but I know it must have been a difficult call to make. Certainly he delivered on the "making it worth" part as much as he could and beyond, but he must know that he is the reason why so many attended the show anyway. I wish that his partecipation at least would make IMG stop nagging him that much, but then it's also entirely possible they've just now replenished the funds to keep doing their own PR games, so.... ETA: 55 minutes ago, shanshani said: Maybe we have better contact tracing or something, or maybe other places don't disinfect surfaces as regularly, or I don't know. I feel like good, swift and efficient contract tracing is a big reason. I mean, obviously masks do work against respiratory virus. All over the world the flu is at its lowest, and certainly it's statisitcally harder to contract and spead sarscov2 when wearing masks. So, masked crowds when local transmission is very limited are probably enough to make the possibility of rapid spread despite masks really low, statistically. But it's different when there's high circulation, and even worse when you don't know how much it's circulating and where, and Japan is closer to this situation than the one in Hong Kong. The case I obviously know better is Italy: during last summer things were reasonably good, but then when cases started rising again, instead of acting immediately, we waited till no one knew anymore where the heck the cases were. Italy has been sailing at a number of daily cases at least 3-4 times the max contact tracing capacity basically since last Septemebr, through its 2nd and 3rd wave. This, despite masks having been mandatory indoors for a year now and also made mandatory outdoors(again) back in October, and yet we got a huge peak in late November and then again another one in March. In part it has been driven by schools reopening (initially, masks weren't mandatory there, though they were mandatory during 3rd wave), but also, clearly the biggest issue was that we've been utterly blind to many cases that kept spreading the virus despite widespread masking (true, I can't vauch for everyone masking all the time or not meeting in private with others maskless, but from what I can tell, compliance has generally been very high). So, having several thousands of cases going around unchecked is a very different situation compared to having a few dozens of cases, all known and perfectly traced and monitored (togheter with all contacts). Looking at Japan's positivity rate, it feels like they might just as blind as Italy has been (at times, maybe even more blind). And they're vaccinating slower.

Why do so many ice show organizers, broadcasting companies, marketing agencies or whatever still not get that Yuzu is an absolute goldmine they can make fortunes with on an international level? There are so many fans all over the world that would pay money to watch a livestream with him and buy merchandise with anything related to him. Yuzu could make a livestream of a show called "Yuzu Loves Kittens" which would basically be him playing with kittens while he talks about skating, music and animes and people would pay money to watch that! And they would pay a lot of money to buy merchandise of "Yuzu Loves Kittens" with cute pics of Yuzu cuddling with kittens! But instead these ice show organizers keep on risking people's health and lives by holding ice shows in front of full rinks of audiences during a bloody pandemic with rising cases in the country.
