And Alina was like "alone" in that room, looking at her doll with no real joy, in her own little world, like a child that  was trying to ignore some fights of the parents or something

My heart broke for her with that reaction to winning tbh; It shouldn't be anyone's reaction to winning goddamn OGM; the poor girls only 15! I hope people are kind to her

You're right, she did look a bit lonely there, with her subdued smile, not all that thrilled for her win. Such contrast to other winners.

zhenya has so much better artistry but her jumps have regressed so much :(

I could watch Alina jump all day but the rest...

I couldn't watch Evgenia do anything all day...

...though I can see she's really worked hard to grow into those second scores she's been given so once I just accepted she'd always be scored over my favourites, I somehow began rooting for her.

Ugh. Feelings.

Somehow I feel mentally exhausted after watching this...I'm sad for Zhenya, but I think Alina deserves credit too. She's only 15! When I was 15, I was only in school without doing much in life. Let's hope Alina won't get too overwhelmed by the attention she's gotten herself cos of the OGM.

Realistically? Unless she lands 3A or a quad, she will be phased out just like Zhenya is being phased out. There are better versions of her particular skillset as we've seen now coming up from juniors.

It was a close battle and both skated their hearts out. And if they really are good friends as they seem, it's better to lose to a training mate and friend, than to a random stranger or skater you don't know. Much as I don't personally care for either as much as I care for Wakaba, Kaori or Mai, I do think we should support them. The attacks after this will be vicious, and both will have to defend themselves and training mate from online forum attacks, I imagine.

I will applaud alina for her steel nerve delivering 2 clean performance but yeah I'm still sad for zhenya even now :13877886: I hope alina won't get all the hate and dissing that adelina and tara had to go through before tho.. she's still a child

I'm not fan of neither, is just my perception of her sorry if you don't agree or you feel attacked for it. :meditationf:

I just think it's better if we keep such thoughts to ourselves, or tell that to our friends, just not in the internet. I don't plan on getting into an argument. I just don't like it. I often get into an argument in YT when I see comments saying Yuzu is boring, he's transvestite, and other negative stuff. I don't want that for other skaters as well. We don't have to agree of course, and you're still free to say stuff like that. I'm just saying where i stand now.

Yeah, that was heartbreaking too. I think she is amazing, and while I wouldn't have given her the gold, she's just a child. This event has just made me feel so defeated, I can't even begin to imagine what the athletes are feeling...

Congratulations for Alina!

Poor Zhenya :sadPooh:

I have suggestion for the gala: they can organize it for Alina like it was done for Nathan in CoR. :animated-smileys-hands-fingers-01:

Obviously none of this is Alina's responsibility. She trained hard, she became very strong, she worked her butt off and she did her job. What people around her did isn't her responsibility in any way. She won, and if there was any unfairness there, it didn't come from her. She should be very, very proud because she did everything that could have been expected of her.

She won't bcs  she won over fellow russian. But she won't get as much love as Med would have get had she win... not even close

Meanwhile, I think Eteri deserves some credit. Not only is she the coach of Zhenya and Alina, she's also the coach of many young and potentially great junior skaters. I applaud her not for her ability to "produce" Champions, but for being able to manage it. Even at TCC, Brian and team has to be mindful about their approaches with Yuzu and Javi so that neither will feel neglected or let the competitive tension run high.

I'm crushed for Evgenia... She did so well... ; - ;

I thought it was the best interpreted program of hers this season. Performance worthy of an Olympic winner. If only.

Sad for Alina. The established favourite is beaten and people hate on you because you are the winner, the newcomer without an established fan base like Med, and you crashed the party. I hope she can ignore the haters.

Neither Russian is a big favourite of mine.  I don't like Eteri's style of skating so far ( but I love her juniors, so there is hope), but she should be proud of her girls. Both of them. They are 1-2  at the Olympics. Who knows what the future for either one will be with the future so close behind them, watching their every move.
