  1. When she feels like rotating a bit more. I don't know if that's more hilarious or frightening. Damn, Kaori
  2. Unfair PCS scoring aside (because it's beating a dead horse at this point), I must say that I'm really happy for Donovan, Adam, and Jason. I think this is the best Donovan has ever done in competition, and his skating skills have improved tremendously. He has such great stage presence and natural charisma. If only he'd had the resources other countries offer when he was younger. Still, though, from not qualifying to the free at junior worlds to #15 at senior worlds. Pretty impressive. Adam, what a comeback. I really don't have much to say other than "wow." Skate of the night for sure. And Jason, lovely as always. It's so satisfying to see him in the top 5 at worlds with no quads. Who else could pull that off?
  3. They're the Pattern 99 revolution blades: https://www.johnwilsonskates.com/products/pattern-99-revolution A lot of skaters use them. I think the Revolution are lighter than the regular Pattern 99s, but the type of blade skaters prefer is personal preference. This lists which skaters use which blades (John Wilson only): https://www.johnwilsonskates.com/hall-of-fame
  4. I'm so happy to hear Yuzu talk about vocaloid! It's always fun to find out Yuzu likes a lot of the same stuff I do. Except Java . I've spent far too many late nights debugging Java code at work to be able to say I like it
  5. Ahh I've been waiting so long for this. Does anyone know how to order from outside Japan? Are there any proxy sites available?
  6. Not sure if it's been posted, but there we got an image of the collab with CLAMP! https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2023/02/26-1/clamp-unveils-stunning-illustration-for-yuzuru-hanyu-picture-book-collab And the book is available to preorder on amazon.jp and cdjapan (might be in other places, but I only checked those). GIFT https://amzn.asia/d/aiVKa7p https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOBK-2835845
  7. Does anyone know if there's a way to watch offline? I want to watch it on my way to work, but the oh-so-lovely subway system in my city gets no signal between stations...
  8. Take this with a grain of salt because my Japanese is terrible, but she asked who was more popular/good looking in middle school (I think she referenced a picture with all 3 of them?). Yuzu says it was Ryuju. Then Ryuju says it was Keiji. And then Keiji says it was Yuzu
  9. Hmmm, it looks like the SSL certificate for the site expired, so some users are probably unable to access right now. I had to use Firefox on my phone because Chrome wouldn't let me.
  10. Yes - I completely agree. Honestly, when I went to the GPF in 2018 I was so upset because, of course, Yuzu wasn't there. But meeting everyone from PH who went anyway was such a great experience. I still remember that as one of the most fun weeks I've ever had, and I still keep all the lovely handmade souvenirs made by PH members. I think that proves that Yuzu unites people, even when he's not competing.
  11. I want to cry, but at the same I'm happy for him. Now he can continue skating in his own terms, and under less pressure. I hope this new chapter of his life brings him as much happiness as his previous chapters brought to me and so many others. I will always support him. Thank you, Yuzu.
  12. Wow. So I've been listening to Raison on loop all day and as I was scrolling down Instagram there was a video of Yuzu from one of the interviews. The sound was off, but his moves perfectly lined up with the song. I turned on the sound and, indeed, it was a rehearsal for Raison. I was listening to a different part of the song, but his movements are so musical and his rhythm so good that it lined up anyway. Every move is on the beat. His musicality is on a whole other level. I have 0 doubt that in another universe Yuzu could've become a soloist, maybe for piano or violin. I can't wait to see all of Raison, it looks amazing from the clips, and the music is right up my alley. The wait is killing me
  13. Yesss, then we get both 3A and 4A in the SP! He should relearn the 2A to make an all-Axel program
  14. Question, does anyone know if there's still a way to preorder the yuzu Pooh? I had no idea it was getting re-released, but it looks like the preorders are sold out in all the places I checked.
  15. Hey, now, let's not exaggerate. Is it not everyone's dream to have their very own tacky star??? (Alternative title: The one time Shoma's bewildered expression was fitting)
  16. Yeah, this is how I took it, as well. What annoyed me was the use of the words "he was complaining" (when has Yuzu ever complained ffs) and "for me, it's a problem, but it's not an excuse." Which has the implication that Yuzu did use it as an excuse, while also making himself sound superior. Not cool. Would Yuzu ever go on live TV and and say that Javi was making up excuses when he said he was underscored at his last Europeans? No, of course he wouldn't. I get that not every skater is good at PR... but if you suck at it, stay the hell away from live TV, lol. But well, maybe Yuzu has just made me have impossible standards, he's so well-spoken.
  17. Do we have a transcript of his words in Japanese? Because if he said something like ちょっと寂しい then it literally means "a bit lonely", but it's also used when you want to say you're missing someone/something (so you feel lonely). In that case Yuzu may be talking about how he'll miss the Olympics. Unfortunately with interviews a lot of the nuance is lost in translation.
  18. That's Petr Gumennik. I don't know the comp, but I think it's from 2019. He doesn't jump that combo anymore, afaik.
  19. Big yikes. I have no idea how accurate any of that is, but if it's true, I feel really bad for all those kids and their parents. $50 is a lot of money in Mexico, where min wage is something like $140 USD/month...
  20. I think this makes sense, though! It's not so much about the PC that was used to write the thesis, but the computer that was used to render the visualizations. It does tell me that whatever software he used doesn't require a powerful computer to run (mediocre graphics card, i7 + 16gb ram combo is good, but it isn't unusual or outrageously expensive anymore). I have no idea what the thesis talks about, but since it does mention feasibility of use, I think it'd be important to be able to reproduce this without needing extremely expensive computers.
  21. Donovan was being interviewed in a live stream on Instagram! A few highlights: - He's aiming to add a quad for the SP for Beijing because his goal is to make the free - The music they're considering for his new program (assuming the SP) is very different from anything he's done before. He didn't say what the music was, though Then they let fans ask questions and I asked what his favorite jump is. His answer... 3A! Good taste, Donovan.
  22. Ha. I heard the same kind of crap from American coaches when Jason moved to TCC. It was hilarious because they were saying "they're sucking out all creativity out of poor Jason Brown" about his SP that was choreographed by... Rohene Ward So just the typical nationalistic bs. If it's not made in 'MURICA (or Russia, in Zhenya's case) it's automatically inferior Even though in this case it was. But it wouldn't be 'MURICA without people who are proud of their own ignorance, after all.
  23. Is the fee that high now?? iirc the Skating Club of New York is cheaper for adults. I think my membership was $90, you just can't compete in the regular junior/senior events. I was able to sign up for tests and compete with that membership. Idk if you're in the area, though (then again, there's plenty of skaters who live in different states from the clubs they represent). I think it really depends on how much you want to compete. I haven't really seen that many non-USFSA competitions, and the ones I've seen are fairly small. I agree that your best option is probably to try to take them all in a year. And maybe you can find a cheaper club.
