...No wonder that when he has issues, it's usually in the 2nd half (you know, the make-up lost points portion). And when he has an issue, it tends to go for several more jumps. Hope it's just tactics (and he secretly has one decided), otherwise I'm honestly scared of him Zayaking. :13877886:

Well, they've already said he has no boot issues and he's perfectly fine, so if practice doesn't go great - which happens and means nothing for the actual event - then we won't hear fifty million excuses, I hope.

does he not remember what happened at worlds last year when he pushed the limits too far in an attempt to win? when he tried six and ended up in sixth place? while i obviously wouldn't wish that on him, what if it does happen again? he's under an immense amount of pressure from everyone right now. its horrible to think of the backlash if he doesn't medal, with the way us media has promoted him as the biggest contender for gold, that only yuzuru can come close to beating. would it not be smart to go safer, work on one layout, instead of going completely for broke when it can so, so easily backfire, especially under the olympic pressure? high risk, high reward, of course, but boy, if it comes crashing down...

all that beautiful choreography in both programs has been completely discarded from us classic til now. sigh :crybaby:

I'd think it's just PR from anybody else, but Nathan has a track record of not deciding his layout in advance. I'm still salty af because that SP is tailored to his strengths and it was really great, and now it's really not so great. The version at the US Nats was so disappointing compared to what we saw first. I really liked it earlier.

Yeah, exactly. And not knowing what Yuzuru will do right until the very moment, equals to not knowing 'how many quads' you need to win. If Yuzuru keeps to a 5 quads layout with 4Lz, Nathan might want to go for 6 quads. Maybe even 7. If Yuzuru's layout is somewhat watered down (I highly doubt it, but who knows), he might keep to 5-6 quads.

This is the reason Yuzuru is THE evil genius.

Packing TJ's obnoxiously bright uniforms/jackets.

I wonder which one is Yuzu's.. they better get the size right :smiley-laughing021:

I think Yuzu will keep to 4 quads or the 5-quad layout he first showed in August, without 4Lz (but will bring 5 quads with 4Lz for Worlds).

I think Nathan might try for the SkA/GPF layout of 4Lz3T 4F 4S // 4Lz 4T1Lo3S/3F 4T 3A(2T) 3Lz with the possibility to change that lone 4T into another 3A (for 2 3As and 5 quads) or into a 4F2T (for extra BV on a 6 quad layout). But with him you never know. And yeah, his layout will be highly dependent on how he places in the SP, if he pops any quad attempt, and what layout Yuzu (and Shoma) will bring.

Yeah but... can you imagine the kuyashii of bringing a watered down layout to the Olys?? I'm worried..

I know :( but I'm not sure there will be enough time for 4Lz AND 5-quad training... I guess the best compromise would be the 5-quad layout with one 3A, because it would at least be a bit of an upgrade, as fitting his challenging attitude, but we'll see what he indeed brings and how it'll affect him. Maybe he'll just be so pissed at everything he'll use that kuyashii to fuel him instead of letting lowered difficulty affect him. Worked for GPF 2014!

It all depends on how January went. If by the end of January (so, this week) he is, say, at Cup of Russia level of training (with 4Lz and 5 quads), then these last 2 weeks might really be the time he needs to peak and bring that layout perfectly, or close to perfection. I know I'm way too optimistic. But I just can't think of him dropping 4Lz unless... yeah, unless he does something a la GPF 2014, and maybe I'd be okay with that since he went close to clean, and, most importantly, was satisfied with his performance and brought home the gold. (Okay, GPF 2014 but with clean SP pretty please? I want everyone in the whole world to see clean Chopin... everybody deserves that...)

This boy ...

So at least we know now that boots issue won’t be the excuse for his performance anymore

Can I say I’m very proud to be a fan of Yuzu who owns up to  his mistakes and strive for perfection ...:joy:

He won’t even say he has an injury until after the fact  :sorrow:

Doesn’t use his asthma as an excuse. Even though his haters say he does ..   :banginghead:

He really does make us proud.  :tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid:
