It is best to ignore him. Most people understand and support Yuzu's decision. It is just a fact that people have been traveling for Yuzu. He has a good reason to fear that to happen again. There is no need to lie just to sound humble when you have to get a more important message across. Link to comment

That's what makes it particularly annoying that anyone thinks Yuzu's not being humble enough by acknowledging that he draws fans to competitions. I remember the week or so before Worlds, when everyone was debating whether or not it was worth the risk to travel during a pandemic just to see Yuzuru. Personally, I knew it was probably a bad idea, but then Ballade and Seimei and the potential for a quadruple Axel were all there and I was going to grit my teeth and go, even though it was terrifying. So he's not wrong at all that his fans will reluctantly throw caution to the wind just to watch him. i admit to being an ugly American. If there weren’t travel restrictions, i absolutely would follow Yuzu to competition if I had a shot at getting a ticket. I follow all the restrictions and get annoyed at all the selfish people whining about masks, but i was planning on going to Montreal worlds, Autumn Classic, Skate Canada, and Stockholm worlds. when i realized the fall events were likely going to be cancelled, I looked up how much tickets to Australia would cost. Literally the only thing that was stopping me is because I can’t. And now, because Yuzu won’t be there. i’m just a middle class income; but i live below my means and budget for these luxuries. i’m not particularly clever; there are a lot of Fanyus in similar situation as me not to mention those who actually are high income. Then there are all the media and staff that show up for Yuzu. At Skate Canada last year, the flight attendant said it was the busiest day in the airport’s history. My cab driver said that every hotel was booked and Skate Canada saved a lot of Kelowna businesses’ year. These CSG’s of the world just love twisting things around to try to rationalize their hate. It’s obvious that Yuzu taking part in competition increases the likelihood of the spread, especially if he went to Canada (NHK might sell out without him, but at least the audience is more likely to be local without him there) Link to comment

SuzyQ
This is why I mentioned the composition of his statement. He started it with his personal reasons and lastly he commented about the fans who may be moving/travelling for his activities. He is such a star that it is difficult for him to skip mentioning his fans in this pandemic situation as it is a fact that he draws so much attention, so I suppose he has carefully arranged the order of points. This is just my impression, but he probably knew this situation would be caused by some ignorant people. Everything is in his calculation Link to comment
robin
Yuzu only stated facts. I mean, if we needed to we could gather data and make statistics about how well attended GP events are that Yuzu graced with his presence and ones that he didn’t attend... but we don’t need to. Link to comment

This man seems somehow related to JSF? Ugh. This BS again. Always with the 'a Japanese would never ...blah blah blah'. Always, always trying to treat Yuzu like the nail that sticks up and hammer him down. Yuzu's basically the daimyo of figure skating at this point. He has earned every right to do whatever he sees fit! SMH. Edited to add: So this anti is in the casino business, huh? My mind goes immediately to sports gambling...I don't know if people place bets on figure skating, but if they do, then there's probably where the sour grapes are coming from... dude's ticked off at a loss of potential income for his business... Yuzu has his fair share of antis on Twitter. Best not to engage, in my opinion. Not worth the effort. And if JSF is angry about Yuzu's entirely sensible and well-thought out decision, well... he's never been their favorite. What else is new? Of course casino-man would not like Yuzu's message because Yuzu is essentially discouraging people from gathering, which is the best way to reduce the spread of the virus. People not "gathering" also means empty casinos, so I'm sure casino-man would not be happy with that. If he doesn't care about people risking their finances in his casinos, do you think he will care about their health and well-being? It was the same with the Las Vegas casinos when they wanted to stay open in April during the lock down and the idiot mayor supported them and wanted to keep the casinos opened. Luckily it wasn't her decision to make. On the other hand, Yuzu clearly cares about his fans and he wants to minimize the risk not only for himself, but for everyone else too. It's pretty obvious who is the better man here. Link to comment

Oh, you are not alone with this, same happend to me. Thanks to Roman I have fallen down a new and deep, deep rabbit hole called BTS......... I was at the streaming party but after it, straight back to these amazing, and yes, really cute boys. (and the reason why I had to catch up to 45 pages of this Yuzu chat.....yeah, I'm also a bit distracted by them) Link to comment

It's like the opposite of following Yuzu...rather than being a cactus, it's more like being a water lily...you're awash in a sea of great content. I don't have time for another fandom, but I guess I have to make an exception for RM* & the boys... //All right, back to Yuzu chat... *My bias. What can I say, I like the smart ones best. icequeen
I made a video of all of Yuzus 4lo jumped in competition! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPbsgiMJCB0 His 4lo is one of my favourite jumps so I wanted to see how it developed throughout his career. I hope we can see it again soon whenever it's safe for competitions! Link to comment

Who will land the first Quad Axel (4.5R)? | Hanyu's Thesis and Determination | The Next Big Jump Edit: Is there some significance to my post being the number “666” which is called “The Number of the Beast” in The New Testament and the subject of the post and video being The Quad Axel?
