I am ELATED with this podium, wow! So happy for Wakababy especially, what a fighter. :tumblr_inline_n18qr5lPWB1qid2nw:

Question, does anyone have the protocols? I know in the SP thread I was joking that they were planning to unleash The Shin Amano TM in the long, but I want to see if he really got unleashed (finally) and mister !man was just a preview.

I'm happy for Wakaba, Satton and JPN ladies. Finally 3 spots, so maaaybe less heartbreak next season (haha, who am I kidding)? But at the same time, I'm so worried for Alina, she might get butchered in her home country media, even though it is super brave of her to face the pressure and go for worlds after winning OGM-the public thinks it's not surprising if you win, and think it's super bad and disappointing if you lose. I don't even want to know what headlines are floating around. By now, I hope those who ever commented that fully back-loaded programs are  "less difficult" or "not impressive" have opened their eyes (well some may never)- it's hard to do, and it's sad that someone has to fall 3 times to illustrate that. It's a relentless pacing and assault on stamina, and it's impressive that only, only at the end of the season has she not kept up.

As for J*ckie, um, I'm sorry, but Bradie's presence is just...not there. I honestly would rather watch the LP of Alina, falls and all, 100 times over than Cinderella (Citri has a bit more spunk and sass to it). Never mind the fact Bradie got grouped with Wakaba and Daleman, talk about buried.

That ship has sailed. Hide under your desk.  :slinkaway:

As other people of the Planet I was there too: few of my thoughts before sleeping (and before the mens's comp of tomorrow...).

The skate of the night was Wakaba's :7938863: :tumblr_inline_mueoe3Yabh1qdlkyg:. She was so fast and dynamic, with flow on elements, accurate in spins and in most part of the choreography. The 'thing' she had more in comparison of any other athlete was the force and the passion, more clearly in the second part of the program and in the final sequence. With the help of the music she built a beautiful moment. At the end of her performance when all the people in the arena was standing and clapping so loud was something of epic, almost on Yuzu scale (but not quite there ;)). I was so so happy for her!.

Kaetlyn had a very good performance too: better spins than before, some movements were more polished and good jumps. Just I don't like so much her program and I can't feel it/her: my bad. Deserved win anyway.

Satoko was faster than I expected but we know the problems with her jumps: I am happy for her because she worked very hard this year coming back from injury, but It's a pity she can't really fix this issue.

Other good performances for me were those of Laurine (her FS is a crowd pleaser, or at least for the italian audience), of Loena and also of Bradie (also if not at the level JW would pretend).

I think nobody expected Carolina would win here: personally I had just hoped she could give a nice and more clean possible performance to medal (bronze) or just to finish fourth, but on an higher note.

Last: I felt so so so sorry for Alina. When she fell the first time a gigantic "gasp" rose from all the arena, so loud as the big round of applause welcomed her when she was taking position at the beginning of the performance. And when she continued to fall, people was clapping and cheering to give her strenght to get up and to go on. But at the end she was in tears. Poor child: I hope she can rest a bit now and find again the serenity and the strength to go on.

My mind went also to Yuzu: to bear all the pressure like he does, is something really extraordinary ...chapeu !

He's just amazing that way.

These cuties!! :10742289:

Wow...  the fact that Yuzu was able to hold on to the number one in the world standing for so long, especially this season

I checked the result with just one eye open. I thought Alina is a lock, so when I saw Keatlyn name and then Wakaba -"OMG Wakaba got bronze" until I realize the number 2 beside and top 10 order. Its such an experience :smiley-scared001:Some thoughts :

- Keatlyn deserve the gold. I'm not a fan of her LP but her jumps certainly make a lot of wow factor when she landed them. What a great season for her and her pcs will rise through the roof after this. I hope she has a better LP next season.

- Wakaba has the best performance of the night and should have won the LP. You could see she's nervous before the 3lz3t and I'm so happy that my girl end her season with a performance of her life. People so eager to write her off, call her a headcase but I know she will never give up. She's not always deliver, but when she does, very few one can beat her in term of power, speed and raw emotion. That stsq is everything and I;m glad this time this is happy tears for her. This silver will give her alot of confidence and I can't wait for her to slay next season. Work on that 3A, girl.

- I think this confirm Shin Amano has a soft spot for Satoko. She won medal both of the time he's in tech panel. I dont know what to say when she won medal with weaker LP of the whole season. Her jumps were off and the performance is no where near to Olys. The most obvious UR is her 2nd lutz and I'm surprise they didn't call it, the same with 3F and 3T. This will make some people hate her more because the tech panel did do their jobs today with all other skaters.

- Carolina, such a beautiful disaster. I know she will find a way to bomb her LP, but I didn't expect they put her off podium (rightfully so)

- I'm so sorry for Alina. She looked tired and nervous at this comp. The problem with her LP is all her jumps are so close to each other and she doesn't have time to recover had one of them go wrong. I hope she can put this performance behind her, she still a big winner of this season. I'm glad to see some support from her team in k&c. Its not easy to perform when you're an OGM with all attention and pressure. I  find its a coincidence when she skate clean both program in EU and Olys, with Evgenia there. Its always easier to be a chaser than being chased. Its the same with the men. When you have the one to beat there (Yuzuru, Evgenia), you will have half of pressure and twice motivated. I guess the Rus fed must pray for Evgenia's recovery right now ( and me too, I hope to see her comeback strong)

- The second best perf went to Loena. Such a presence and charisma. I would put her 3rd in LP. She derserve at least 65 pcs IMO. And my hot take is she should won bronze.

- US has 2 spot next year and tbh I dont think they need the 3rd spot. Bradie' pcs is a crime when we compare with Loena, but she did well in her world debut and stay on her feet. No question, she's the most reliable US lady right now. Mirai seems to leave her 3A at PC, the tech panel really have no mercy on her

- Such a contrast to the SP when 4 of top 6 underperformed. I heard Gabby sprained her ankle before LP. Gosh, why this girl can't catch a break.

This is hand down the most unexpected results of the year. Can't wait to see what happen with the men's :popcorn:If Wakaba pulled a WC 12 Yuzuru, I hope Boyang will pull a WC17 Yuzuru or OG Queen Aliona :smiley-happy085:

I think Keatlyn will continue next season as GPF is in canada. My prediction for GP :

-Keatlyn : SC, TEB

-Wakaba : COC, COR

-Satoko : SA, NHK

I know I should feel bad for Gabby - poor girl, what timing for a sprain - and for Alina, who must be so disappointed, it's so much to deal with at fifteen. And for Caro, who lost her podium at home after leading after the short.

But tbh all I feel is elation for Wakaba. She did so great. After Nationals, in K&C, I wondered if the pressure and the constant disappointment where nothing she did was enough to get those scores would get to her. I wouldn't have blamed her if it had. She looked so dispirited. But she fought, she went to a small competition and got the practice, went to Worlds, messed up her SP a bit, and then came back like a queen in her free skate. That is mental fortitude. I'm so glad to see it because Wakaba will need that mental strength to keep pushing for the scores she deserves. But now she knows that she can do it. (My other girl Mai doesn't quite wear her heart on her sleeve like that, but she is like steel under silk. She has it, too.) I swear, if judges screw the Japanese girls over next season, I'm getting pitchforks. There will be pitchforks and fire. There may even be dragons.

Oh I still had a little left for the giggles about Jackie Wong, like, what, seriously, lol. PCS for being American is not supposed to be written down, Jackie, it's supposed to be one of those understood things for plausible deniability.

On my way to mens practice and I'm still feeling emotional remembering Wakaba sobbing after her free.

Last night did happen. It was a surprising result, but a pleasantly surprising one nonetheless. (Sad for BB Alina though, but I'll root for her to come back fighting with all guns blazing next season.)

Woke up to find this surprising result this morning. Still haven't seen any of the ladies' FS, being partly excited and partly worried...

Oh I should have said, Shin kept all the notes (so  during some of the skates he wrote after every element) and the other guy was like ”what do you have?” for the entire comp.

It was the best feeling when I could tear myself away from Wakaba in the K&C and the tech panel was all done and smiley. :tumblr_inline_n18qr5lPWB1qid2nw:

Ah, so Shin WAS the de facto tech panel. :winky:

About more than half of the earnings for ticket sales in any competition are due to Japanese fans. Roughly 1/4 or 1/3 of sponsors in any event are Japanese companies. JSF should have more power if they play it correctly.

Or, more ideally, no federation should have power as big as the 3 giants.

I really think the fault lies in the lack of qualified ISU judges in Asia other than Japan and China. I've seen Malaysia, Singapore, and HK judges before I think. But the judging panel almost primarily makes up of European countries who bring their own preference and bias to the table. Hence the overuse of European music and programs.
