I love Shin Amano. If he's lurking here or if any of you has his twitter name, PM, I'll write to him how much I love him. Fair judging. Deserved podium. minimal PCS inflation. Best judged ladies competition of the season.

It may have been my imagination, but when the officials were being introduced, Shin and the tech panel got way louder cheers than the judges  I know I was clapping for him like crazy, the (really really unenthusiastic) Russian fan next to me must have thought I'm crazy :carrot_:

people should start throwing flowers and plushies when Shin's name is introduced:bow::clap::laughing: or stand up to clap for him ^^

Wtf, so now I have to go out in public and pretend everything is normal?! And this time I can't even yell about it to my Fanyu family like with the Olympics.

Favorite memory (other than our memelord successful defending his gold) is being able to scream/jump/cry with our Fanyu family after the event.

It felt so good finally getting to see Higuchi where she deserves to be. Her program and the way she skated it literally made me weep. The pairs event also shaped up to be a beautiful one. I hope this WC would shut up those who think WCs in the Oly year should be cancelled because no way any of the podium finishers in the pairs and the ladies deserve that asterisk next to their accomplishments. (I dunno anything about ice dance and the jury's still out on the men's event.) Imagine all the wonder and amazingness the world would have been deprived off had these...less thoughtful...individuals got their way.

If anything, when it comes to the ladies' event, it might even have slightly undermined the Olys version, in terms of purity and fairness. I get that a lot of mishaps had to have happened to some of the other skaters for this to happen but their involuntary sacrifice were not in vain, because even if everyone had skated their very best, including the ones who weren't there, if judged properly, this should more or less still have been the podium, imho. Which is to say, one with Higuchi on it.

I've also got a lot of respect for Zagitova for going out there despite the risks. I hope she'll be able to turn this experience into something rewarding and come back a bigger and better skater next season. To me, what determines whether or not she's an Oly champion truly worthy of her title isn't how she fared in this event, it's how she'll fare from here on out despite what happened in this comp.

Kudos to Milan for the wonderfully put together event (even though it's still going on) and are those medals snazzy or what? Did they finally come out with a new design? Are they allowing the host country to design their own medals now? Or is this a Milan-only deal?

He's scary! All skaters with iffy techniques should tremble with fear at his appearance.

Know what, I am going to go put Loena and Wakaba's LP on replay (I went into the men's thread-bad idea). They managed to put out great content and survive The Shin AmanoTM scrutiny. That is something to be proud of.

Franklly, when his name was announced among the people of the TP there was a very big (bigger than anyone else among judges & co. and almost like a skater) applause  !

oh man  is there anything else you want me to say? "Yuzu could never win 4 olympic gold medals..."

All of Canada and USA suddenly felt this weird cold chill up their spines.

I think it would be nice if there were more applause for good, fair, and strict tech panels. It keeps the integrity of this sport. Shin Amano, and I hear a Ms. Unger, are both pretty strict. But maaaybe if it becomes a trend that strict panels get cheers and applause, it gives a sufficient enough hint to the judges and ISU that the audiences and fans *know*.  And maybe a bit of encouragement to TPs for doing their job and not be so influenced by politics.  At some point even the big feds have to pay attention.
