Jason is now very stressful because his 3A has just abandoned him. Why, 3A? I wish the Japanese men and Han Yan could give Jason a few 3A lessons!

Jason's 3A seems to have collapsed when he became quad-focused. Or maybe it's when he became Olympic-focused.

Or perhaps it has to do with the intense personal relationship he has with Kori and Rohene. Can being too close to one's coaches negatively affect a skater's performance? Especially when you're the only elite skater those coaches have and when other elite skaters have abandoned your coaches and gone elsewhere for training?

May I just say I loved the 'drumming' in Boyang's combo spin? Also, I noticed quite a few little choreography details that were so in tune with the music cues. Amazing job, Boyang!

Surely they could find a jump specialist to work with him to sort it out, even if Jason cannot change his coaching team for whatever reason! It might affect him adversely to change his team. He seems to skate from his happy place. When it's not a happy, confident place, his jumps just leave, sometimes even his 3Lo looks a little wobbly. :/ But he really needs help. It's a pity because he's so good at everything else.

I hope all the positive feels for Boyang's SP remains after this event, since his FS isn't quite as catchy as well as him coming back from injury will show if he has the stamina to pull off the longer FS.

I really want him to make a statement here though, since for the quadsters he's usually robbed or ignored. Still salty about the Asian Games last year when he went head to head with Shoma also.

Warning, me being even more salty:

Also love how people have been applauding gold-medal contender Nathan for not recycling and "taking the risk" by bringing 2 new programs and then there's 2x Worlds bronze medalist, Boyang, frequently ignored with his 2 new programs and showing improvement as well.

I guess...I'm just starting to realize how much Boyang-man has grown on me. :P

SP: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (soundtrack) by Tan Dun
4Lz3T, 4T, 3A
TES: 57.59
PCS: 42.58
Overall: 100.17 (SB), 1st

I'm so happy to see Boyang join the 100 club!! :smiley-happy085:

I'm rooting for him to get gold, and I wonder if his star wars fs will seem a nicer program with the improvement in his skills!

I watched only top-3 boys in black, all did good! Great to see energetic Boyang on ice again - his 4Lz and personality were clearly missed! Keiji's SP is wonderful - I'm really looking forward to see it in person in Milan  I must admit that Shoma was a little boring to watch after those two, I really hope next season the coaches will try to find more interesting music/choreo for him.

Boyang has improved so much that it's incredible! Should have been a clear winner for this SP but the usual nonsense happened.

I'm sort of sad in advance because that free is simply not good enough to show this off as much as the short had done but at the same time I'm just so pleased and happy for him. And good to see his jumps are back, especially that glorious Lz. :smiley-love017:

Keiji ... well. Yes, have a Pooh, you got the quad. Yes, you lost your levels, have a Pooh aimed at your head. In essence.

Jason needs to change coaches, pronto yet I know he won't so he's making me cry.

I'm so happy for Boyang! I really thought he deserved to be first today. He's improved so much, I thought he reflected the changes in the music really well and I loved the hand movements in the last spin! All his jumps looked great too, I really hope he can bring it in the free and win this whole thing! :tumblr_inline_ncmif5EcBB1rpglid:

Yes, Boyang deserved first. Everything was rock solid. But, at least the marks were close... and you never know, when SW is skated cleanly, the program may be totally different. Each outing has been pretty disastrous so now that he's back to form people might be surprised.

Whoa, so many skaters had great short program!(and of course it has to happen when I can't watch it live:facepalm:)

I'm so happy for Boyangman:tumblr_inline_n18qr5lPWB1qid2nw:

Welcome to the 100 club and congrats for fulfilling one of your dreams!:tumblr_inline_ncmif5EcBB1rpglid::tumblr_inline_ncmif5EcBB1rpglid:

I knew this SP had tons of potential since the start, I hope he can skate it even better at olys

Still empty when he's preparing the jumps (those jumps, tho!:10636614:), but the placement of 3A is great and I love the spins as the music picks up, and stsq is really good and brings out a lot of nice qualities :tumblr_inline_mfy936EPNF1qid2nw:

Definitely I would have given him PE, CO and IN over Shoma today, who looked a bit off during the whole program (and all of his jumps had a bit of Shoma save there, a pity he couldn't jump how he was jumping in practice:sad4:).

idk if it's the costume that really doesn't speak Winter nor Vivaldi to me, but today even Shoma's ending spins didn't give me that distinctive thrill I felt the other times. I'm surprised his score was so close to Boyang, but Shoma wasn't exactly clean, or he would have an higher advantage (I reckon it's better to double a 3T instead of a 4T, tho, so good job!).

that StSq2

It's such a pity (and he's still firmy following his senpai, I see. StSq kuyashii:13877886:).

That his stsq is built to barely meet requirements for lv 4, allowing 0 room for mistakes, is one puzzling strategic choice I don’t understand from a team that  seems to know quite well the rulebook (tho that planned 3S3T as last jumping pass in the free is a bit meh for me, too). And they have been tweaking that stsq all season, so I don’t get why his choreographer hasn’t planned the stsq better, given the issues during the whole GP series (and a good choreographer knows how to fit requirements for lv 4 in a program, so this is one point more in my book for Shoma to go and work with another choreographer next season… rn imo the choreo of his two programs is holding down his expressive potential).

It's staggering to see his "competition mode: on" switch off to "adorable cutipie" the moment he ends the program. I could honestly use a little bit less of that fierceness during the program itself (someone please tell him he doesn't need to be in #I'mGonnaMurderYou mode while skating to Vivaldi). I want a photo of him with the broccoli plushie. I need it. I really do.:tumblr_inline_ncmifaymmi1rpglid:

Let's hope the 4CC Men's free skate will be better than your usual Men's free event of this season :snonegai:

I hope a healthy Boyang can make the SW program look better:fingerscrossed:, that Jason's 3A will come back from war and Keiji can have another good skate. And I'm still betting my money on Shoma to win, I think he can land all his jumps, even if he needs to Shoma-landing the heck out of them:peekapooh:

(and I need Shoma to win because now my predicted bronze is currently in 4th and ID has already ruined my predictions, gotta rack some points somewhere):P

Also, I'm curious to see if Misha is still wearing his Yuzu-like costume :animated-smileys-hands-fingers-01:
