2018 Worlds - Milano (Tickets)

Featured Replies

So yesterday I sent an application form to be a voluntary for Milan 2018. Today they sent me a reply mail in which they said they would contact me as soon as possible. I don't think that means anything, but I am happy I did it.

They asked the languages I spoke and since I am studying Japanese, and will know more of it next year around march, I put in that too (of course, in a lower level than English). They also surprisingly asked the "kind of work" that we would like to voluntary for. I wrote 'athletes assistance/aid, interviews, ice-level (generic)'. Oh, also they asked if we know how to skate, and I do, so I said yes. I wonder if they will make me fix the ice or something LOL. I don't know if they actually care at all, but fingers crossing, they might think they need my average Japanese for... stuff!!! I also have Receptionist experience in Hotels, so that might be useful as well.

Wish me luck everyone! :darklordyuzu: (yes, this accurately describes my emotions rn)

It seems to me that you have very good chances to be a volunteer at Worlds! :eeking: I wish you good luck and let us now about the result as soon as you know it! :fingerscrossed::2thumbsup:

Hahahah I think anyone can volunteer but maybe speaking italian would be necessary! :sorrow:

I live in Rome (way better than Milan) and I don't know if this might be a problem for them, but I wrote in the form that I have no problem finding housing in Milan (my sister and me might beg some of her friends to host me for a while) and I am available to attend staff training days before the event.

If you say so :knc_yuzu1: (I'm still uncertain about it because... of the Rome thing) Thank you and I will definitely share as soon as I'll know anything, whether I'll be jumping up and down for joy or crying a little inside.

I'm too afraid to jinx it, so let's just say I might not even get chosen as a volunteer!!! The chances are slim!!! I just have no hope!!! :crazyshit:

I think it might be an advantage if you could stay at the place of your sister's friend. Then the organizers don't have to pay for your accomodation. I don't think it would be a disadvantage that you are from Rome, unless maybe the amount of Milanese applicants with similar skills to yours will be very high (which I doubt?)

I think you have good chances because besides Italian you can also speak English and Japanese, which is a big advantage. And also because you can skate, which is a plus, too! You applied relatively early, so you're absolutely in time. :2thumbsup:

My list of goals be like: 1- get inside one of Boyang's backstage instagram vids 2- do the peace sign

I hope they will consider the earliness of the requests if there are indeed lots of Milanese applicants further during the year! :pbow:
I'll just have to wait for now. But your words reassure me a little :kitty:

I would love if anyone can advice me. I'm planning to buy individual tickets but after seeing many posts about volunteering, I started thinking about it. I'm from Algeria, speak 3 languages (Arabic, French, English), I have already volunteered abroad but not a sport event (with AIESEC in Poland and Romania). Do you think I have any chance to be taken? :idk:

You can always try and if you get it, sell your tickets, but you may not be able to watch the event at all depending on what your post is as volunteer.

They have the 'voluntary' form in English as well, so maybe Italian is not mandatory and speaking three languages might just get you a pass!

Think about having a go at it, you never know! By the publicity they're doing, it looks like they need a lot of volunteers.
