@Lys no one is risking to ruin other people's work.

Please continue the discussion in PMs. Thank you.

I for sure hope so about the first!

Not sure about the need to tell me twice to continue discussion on PM when I did answer robin in PM already on her first PM but in case you wasn't aware of that, duly noted.

My answer to @Murieleirum is just a general suggestion (I hope it's clear my "you" in my post is not you = Muriel, but you = generic person who may thing about volunteering)  on what to keep in mind before applying.

From my experience people think that volunteering to a huge event is all happiness and fluff, and while usually volunteering brings a lot of new experience (and for sure a different one), it is also a lot of work and a lot of being ready to accept also things we would like not to do, so... just  think once or twice more about it before saying "I do".

Anyway, regarding volunteering, it seems like having certain skillsets will be super helpful. i.e. hair/makeup, translation, etc. Being able to skate probably helps too, although the people who pick up the flowers and stuff all seem to be kids (and I know they hire the kids from local aspiring competitive skaters).

Wondering what talents I have that would help lol. I could paint nails and sew...don't know many languages fluently...

Although I'm 5' feet tall, I don't look young enough to be a flower girl, so unfortunately that's ruled out

I've thought about patching up the ice, as a work that could be done by people who know how to skate. After practices and stuff. Honestly, I don't know what else goes on on the ice besides the competitions themselves.

I cannot think of any good reason why being able to skate would be a "plus" skill to have for volunteers? Unless you're available like a month ahead of time and can join a local skating club and be part of the opening or closing ceremony. ;-)

Idk, I imagine some stuff related to cleaning the ice after, setting up ad posters, banners, etc. on the sides of the rink? Like, before/after the competitions maybe.

The Milano application does ask. And the USFS application for volunteering at nationals requires you to have an active USFS membership.

On the topic of volunteering (and maybe we should make another thread about it if anyone's interested), I was thinking of volunteering at US Nationals considering it's in my backyard and it's not gonna be a nerve-racking event for me. It would nice to potentially meet some skaters, coaches, and other volunteers. But I have to sign up for a USFS membership which will cost me $140 which doesn't actually guarantee I'll be picked or anything, so I'm not sure if it's worth it... It does seem like it'd be really fun though.

Do I sound racist if I say that it's so like America to make you pay to be a volunteer?

Honestly, though... I hate these things.

EEEEKK. WHERE DO I SIGN UP FOR IT.

I have finally decided to give in to the temptation and try for Worlds, hopefully I can get tickets :smiley-angelic001:

I have a question, how does public transportation work in Milan? I am looking at hotels and I want to find a place where it is easy to go to the venue and back. I am very bad at following directions and Google is not helping much

Thanks

So easy, just stick with the Metro. Get a hotel in the city or somewhere closer to the venue (i.e. south), just bear in mind that the arena is outside the zone 1 so you do need to pay a little bit extra than just the standard one-zone tariff if you travel back and forth every day.

Arena is at ASSAGO Milanofiori forum stop, served by the M 2 line. Which goes directly to the city center, including the central train station.

Good website: http://giromilano.atm.it/#/home/en

for instance, from Centrale FS to Assago forum = 2.50 euros and takes about 25 minutes, but there are plenty of areas closer to Assago to spend the night, too.

You're welcome. I feel very easy in any city with a metro system. Buses confuse the heck out of me, so if I can avoid dealing with them, I will. ;-)

Hi everyone! according to an email I got, single tickets will go on sale in early October :smiley-happy085: And apparently they will send more info about it to those who are subscribed to the newsletter.

Geez, I almost got a heart attack when they answered, thought the tickets were up, ugghhhh, my mind went: :volcano:

I'm already so anxious about the day they actually go on sale, oh god :tumblr_inline_ncmifiE3IT1rpglid:
