2018 Worlds - Milano (Tickets)

If I could bother you all with one more question: how close is too close? I'd like to try to be as close as possible without missing the flow of things.

As for me I like to be as close to the ice as possible: to be able to see the skaters facial expression + all the sparkles and costume details :smiley-love017: I feel more connected to the skater that way. Sometimes the first row is not the best because of the boards but depends of the rink, at Helsinki the first rows where good.

I wonder if Worlds 2019 in Japan will be possible to get tickets to? I'm already planning to go to Olys next year so might be a bit of a squeeze to go to Worlds in Milan as well. But then I think it might be easier to get tickets to Milan than it might be for Japan.

I hope they allocate tickets to foreigners for Worlds, esp. for those held in Japan?

I'm Italian and I sadly have to agree with this :sadPooh:

Hope it's better than the euros in 1998...

Worlds 2018 All-Event tickets now on sale!

Didn't expect them to be on sale this early... Is it recommended to buy them now?

I just bought mine, yay!!! Very glad I waited and didn't fall for the VIP trap. (No offense to those who did go for it, I just totally didn't feel like it was worth it.)

If you feel like the seat you want is good enough, sure, why not go for it? I'm super happy with the seats I got! :space:

edit: I'm not sure what happened with the ticket sales, anyway. I came across a page somewhere that said they'd go on sale a 4 pm; Italian time, presumably. But it was about 3.15 pm when I looked, and I'm in the same timezone.

Where would be considered good seats? Would love to have a view of the K&C if I could.

Ehm... that really depends on your own point of view. Wanna see what the judges see? Go sit behind them or very near to them (programs are usually a bit aimed towards them, starting and ending poses etc.). But bear in mind you'll be sitting a bit further from the ice then.

Wanna see the kiss 'n cry? I read that it'll be in the area near A 19, but that's not a guarantee from me, I really don't know if that's true. Might just as well be on the complete diagonal opposite?

Want to potentially avoid having a cramped neck? Do not sit low in the center areas on the long sides, because you're continuously following the skaters to all corners of the arena with your head turning every which way (again, very personal, some people have more problems with that than others).

Don't want to freeze your legs off? It might be very cold down down at the ice levels. Not saying it'll be cold, but that chance always exists.

So, yeah, really up to you. ;-)

Also bear in mind that most of the cameras are going to be placed on the judges' side, so there's a chance that your view will be partly blocked by those. In Helsinki they also had huge crane cameras in the corners on the judges' side, and the people who sat in the corner above the K&C had the crane block their view regularly. There will also be a lot more photographers on that side, so depending on your seat you might get the pleasure of hearing a lot of click-click-click-click all the time.

What I also don't like is sitting in the very first row anywhere, because those usually have a railing in front of them, and I'm too short to properly see over those. Having a metal pole right in front of me at eye level the whole time, that's a big no no for me personally. Second row is usually perfectly fine, though.

Thank you for all your tips! :thankyou:

If only one could be at all sides of the arena at once. Just to be able to take in the performances from all possible angles.

You know, we can make a big deal out of it, but when you're involved in a skater's program, concentrated on it etc., it really doesn't matter much where you sit.

Unless there's a camera blocking your view, of course. ;-)

Full-event tickets cost a bit more than it did in Helsinki, which is a but surprising. I'll probably buy individual tickets because I'd like to get better places for the men's event. But I haven't decided yet.

Opinions on sitting on the short sides?

I was sitting on the short side (ice level) for the men's LP in Helsinki, where Yuzu jumped the 4Lo, the 4S-3T and the 3A-2T (the 3F wasn't that far away from us either). The view was really good. There was a crane camera on the left side of the judges but it didn't really disturb me. It was probably disturbing for people sitting in balcony levels of the long side of the rink.
