seems to be a very weird thing to add to a figure skating package  haha, but...if there's interest, why not

I feel it is misleading in a way. You expect to get the "best" seats with Platinum, but those aren't available anymore, at least not at this point in time. So, they turn the second-best category into the best category, suggesting you still get super awesome seats...

also, I really don't understand why the practices aren't included anymore.

Oh, I don't know... this is Milan, after all. And figure skating fans are generally in the same category as, say, equestrian fans: we're mostly women and there's money 💰 in a lot of pockets. (Very sweeping general statement, but there's truth in there, too.)

So... chances are some people are gonna be interested in spending some of that money on luxury goods.

As a broke student who likes FS and is also an equestrian, I can attest to this not always being true :tumblr_m9gcvqToXY1qzckow: the term we use is horse-poor: enough to fund the horse addiction and nothing else XD

I'd love to go to Milan since it's closer to me than everything else, but since they're being so forthcoming with information about tickets (¬¬) , budgeting is not easy.

Well, if you remember, for Helsinki they also sold different VIP packages for separate events (with access to the buffet and stuff) which were also crazy expensive, and those seats were in the corners or in like row 17 opposite the judges or something. They obviously want to make you pay for the extras you get, not for the seat itself.

True, man, those packages were crazy!

But this thing is just... I dunno, it just feels so wrong to me to basically call all the available seats as belonging to a 'better category' than they were being sold as. Can't really explain it better than 'misleading'.

Ah well, as long as they keep their hands off my pretty seat, I'm good.

I just find it really irritating that the previous ticket categories always disappear when they start selling new versions. So I guess if someone still wanted to buy an all-event ticket including practices, they're just screwed now? And there was no notice anywhere that there's any kind of deadline until when certain tickets are available.

If it's any help, single tickets will go on sale starting October most likely. Probably single practices as well?

I had half a mind to forgo certain indulgences this winter and try to go to Milan - but the ticket sales are so peculiar that I'm not sure what I'd be getting for my money so I'm less inclined to give up other amusements.

I already have my ticket, I'm just getting irritated on other people's behalf  But thanks anyway.

Yes I suppose they will sell individual practice tickets. I guess? Though you never know.... IIRC, in Boston you could only get a practice pass with an all event ticket? I think. And the way the Italians get creative with their ticket packages, I'm not gonna bet on anything....

I am really risking it this time, cause I sent out the voluntary application and they still have to confirm anything - which would be normal enough, if it weren't for the fact that... what if they don't take me, and I lose my chance at tickets? Aaufnsriugnsrg. I guess I may have to rely on people selling their own tickets last minute.

Well if it's any consolation, tickets haven't exactly been flying so far -.- I think it's probably gonna take a while until they run out of halfway decent seats

After the disaster of NHK, I'm trying to plan for Milan, but it is hard... I'm only really interested in men's, so I'm waiting for the single event tickets and hoping they'll be on the ok side, price wise, like Helsinki. But it would have been helpful to know what exactly the practices will be, too. I'm guessing there will likely be men's practice on both of the first two days... And do (all) skaters usually participate in the Opening Ceremony? I don't remember seeing anything like that for previous Worlds... Hotel is an issue, too, because a stay for the whole period is quite expensive (and if one wants to visit a bit as well, it's even worse)... I might have a friend coming along, but the funny thing is, she'd actually like to see ladies and pairs, too lol And on top of that, the iffy ticket issues... :crazyshit2:

Milan is not that expensive as long as you don't require a hotel in 1. The heart of the city and 2. Right next to the skating venue.

I don't recall the skaters participating in the opening ceremony...?

You'll be fine buying single tickets, no need to pay for all tickets if you just want to see the men.

Thanks for the tips!

My only requests for hotel is to be close to transportation (subway, ideally), in a decent area and to have free Wi-Fi. Beyond that, I'm good. It seems apartments are more profitable in Milan than hotels... but I'll do some more research. No opening ceremony is good. And I definitely will get just single men and practice (well, depending how they'll be split). It's just a bit funny that if my friend wants to see more, she'll have to pay more, despite not being quite as into it as me. But we'll see.

I am anxiously waiting for the single tickets too, bacause I would rather spend a bit more for good seats for the event I'm interested in (guess which...argh if Yuzu doesn't go someone will hear me scream reaaally loud :tantrum:) than go for the whole event and be forced to go for worse seats. Hope there will be tickets for practices :tumblr_inline_mjgka6fYNw1qz4rgp:

But I've just booked in an hostel  kind of a sudden decision, but I got the option to cancel the reservation for free until March, so I guess it's fine even if disaster happens and I can't go to Milan anymore (not that cheap for an hostel but at least the place seems clean, not something to take for granted, believe me)

I'm waiting for the single tickets as well, I hope they will be on sale soon (but not during my trip to Moscow).  I'm planning to buy good seats for the men's competition, and then I will decide what to do with the other events. I'd like to watch the ladies, and the pairs will be exciting, too, but maybe I will skip ice dance this time. It will all depend on the prices, which I think will cost a bit more than it did in Helsinki - if it will be the case, then I have to spare a bit and skip one or two events.

Maybe I should book a hostel soon, too, before the prices will get higher.
