It's looking amazing!

Oh, a question - do we have a specific topic thread for the men's SP today?

There is, but not unlocked yet.

Hey it feels really Olympic-y now, exciting!!

The site looks beautiful! Well done and thankyou for all the hard work those of you responsible have done. It's much appreciated.

Vincent: How awful. He isolated, got into the bubble, practiced for a week in the bubble and even competed... probably thinking he'd made it safely through... and THEN to test positive? Omicron, you nasty little thing (if it's that strain). I read that it only takes 1 particle of it to infect someone, and that it stays viable 20 minutes after the infected person leaves the area.. if that's true and he tries to find out how he got it, it's almost an exercise in futility, unless more +ves show up. And the stealth Omicron, it's even more infectious (supposedly) than original Omicron.

After those emotions become less raw, that silver medal will feel pretty good... no matter what, you're an Olympic medallist, Vincent!! The timing could have been different and he may not have even been able to compete in the TE and may have missed out on that medal too. So, with time he'll fully appreciate the silver lining.

I absolutely agree. If the situation were such that figure skating is still judged and scored fairly, then we could say that it might be smarter to not take too much of a risk and go a safer route to ensure an as good as possible outcome. In a world with fair scoring, Yuzu should be miles ahead even if he goes clean with just three quads of two types or even just two quads in the FS. But that is obviously not the case.

During the last couple of years, it has become clear that the ISU, US fed, and judges put Nathan on the pedestal as their chosen one. Their bias in favor of him has gotten so bad that even if he makes obvious mistakes, he still gets high scores. Yuzu tried to catch up to this ridiculous quad race game and it turned out that no matter what he did, it didn't matter because they already had decided who would be their champion.

Even I as a fan went through so much resentment over how Yuzu was robbed and Nate was showered with undeserved candies again and again. I can't even imagine how Yuzu must've felt to be disregarded, discarded, and disrespected like that. The message the ISU wants to send him is clear: we don't want you anymore.

I'm so grateful Yuzu started to take a different approach and stop vying for their approval. He still competes and as long as he competes, he will be judged and scored. But now he doesn't try everything he can to try to please the judges anymore. He knows that doesn't work anyway. No matter how he tried to play their game, they still screwed him over.

Now he plays his own game. And if his own game involves landing a 4A at the Olympics even if it might still be a bit shaky, then so be it. Making history is not an easy feat and never has been. If it were easy, everybody could do it. It takes outstanding mental, emotional, and physical strength and balance to achieve history making goals. It takes extraordinary courage, determination, perseverance, grit, and vision to do things no one has ever done before and go to places no one has ever been before. No one has ever carved their name into the history of any sport by playing it safe and not taking great risks.

Besides, the 4A has been Yuzu's dream since he was a child. That's his personal motivation to achieve it. He doesn't do it to win competitions or get high scores (which wouldn't make sense anyway because of the outrageously low BV). He's pursuing it to make his own dream come true. And if he has the chance to make his dream come true on the biggest stage and he wants to take it, then, by all means, he should go for it.

And this is one of the reasons why there are so many people in the world who love and admire Yuzu. He doesn't hold back. He doesn't play it safe. He doesn't just do the bare minimum. He isn't afraid to be and show his true self and do his own thing, no matter what other people might think or say.

This is his life, his career, his performance. He can do whatever he chooses. No matter what he should decide to do, I always support him and look forward to see more of the sheer divine skating he does. :heartpound:

✨thank you so much to all the admins team for your hard work ! <3

And to everyone for the updates.🙏

No, that's so devastating for Vincent ;____; how cruel to end Olympics like this :( and also must be so stressful for all the athletes and team members that had contact with him...

I hope he can look at it soon as character building thing, but the truth is for athletes that work all they lives for those moments... I can't imagine :(

When it comes to Yuzu, the words sometimes just flow out of me. He's such an inspiration! :tumblr_inline_mto5i3wxFW1qid2nw:

On the topic of scores I have to say that (and this is a popular opinion on here no doubt) the future of figure skating is in BIG trouble. The scoring is confusing and for casual audiences the ones who win often don't deserve it.

Watching the women last night with my boyfriend and co-worker (casual viewers) they were flabbergasted that Kamila won by thirty points over Kaori even with a fall. Kaori was the highlight of the night (my co-worker loved Karen too) and yet the technical system made it so Kamila was deemed "the greatest ever". Everyone talks of quads like they're the best thing every, but really casual viewers don't care. A perfect triple is just as good.

With tonight I am going to be curious (if Nathan and Yuzu both skate clean) what the reaction will be from general audiences. No doubt commentators are going to be talking about how they are the gold medal favorites, but will their performances match what the GA think of with figure skating? I think Nathan is boring to watch, I think of Kamila the same way tbh, but I will be curious the what the reactions of non-FS fans will be. If Yuzu skates clean but is placed below Nathan, will they think that's fair?
