Maybe the ISU will know?

I mean, can they just cancel the GP series now? Already, the prospects for at least 2 GPs are not looking so bright. They can consider virtual comps, but we have already seen that the qualities of the videos submitted can be wonky and scores don't make sense anyway.

Honestly SC should make the event virtual or postpone/cancel it. When public health is advising people to only go out for necessities, to only socialize with your own household, and to limit even in-provincial travel to essential reasons they should not be permitting an indoor event mixing together people from outside the province and different parts of the province to take place. Show us that you actually value the health and safety of skaters and their teams above points and medals.

I fear our laggard of a premier has shut the barn door after the horses ran away. Our testing and tracing system is borked so we don’t have a grasp of the specifics, just a rough idea that cases are surging and that percentages of older people getting COVID-19 and hospitalizations are going up now too. We had time to fix past mistakes but Ford’s refusal to fund the testing and tracing system until the end of September and ignoring of many public health and infectious disease specialists is bearing the expected poor fruit.

As of this past Monday, it was going forward with no fans in attendance, limited staff/volunteers, and strict measures in place to protect the skaters. But who knows what each new day will bring. IMO Skate Canada will cancel if they have to but they're hoping not to have to.

The Office of Rospotrebnadzor in Moscow revealed violations of social distance and disinfection requirements for the prevention of COVID-19 in the Megasport Sports Palace. Oksana Panova, the chief specialist-expert of the Rospotrebnadzor department in Moscow, told the journalists about it.

Scott Morrison has confirmed Australia will move “very cautiously” to reopen quarantine-free travel with a “handful” of countries, raising the prospect Europe and the United States will be excluded until 2022 unless a Covid vaccine is available.

“The prospects of opening up widespread travel with higher risk countries will remain very reliant on effective vaccination or other major breakthroughs in the management of Covid,” he told the Sun Herald.

The comments were widely interpreted to mean travel to and from Europe and the United States will continue to be subject to the compulsory two-week quarantine period, which makes travel uneconomical except for longer stays such as international students.

Morrison told reporters New Zealand would be the “first step” and very soon New Zealanders “will be able to come to New South Wales, the ACT, and the Northern Territory”.

Morrison said that after New Zealand, Australia was looking to establish travel bubbles with Pacific nations, Japan, Singapore and South Korea.

“There are countries that have performed well on the health front and Australia and those countries are one of a handful that have had the same level of success.”

“But we have to go cautiously on this, very, very cautiously. Covid-19 hasn’t gone anywhere, it’s still there – it’s no less aggressive today than it was six months ago. We need to keep the habit of Covid-safe behaviours.”

At this rate, if Yuzu decides to compete this season at all the only competitions left are Nationals and Worlds...

If he decided to sit the whole season out, will he end up not getting invited to Grand Prix stops next season (2021/22)? I think something similar happened to Yuna right?

In a further blow to the travel industry, Australia is warning its international borders are likely to stay closed because of COVID-19 restrictions until “late next year.” Foreign nationals were banned in March to help curb the spread of the coronavirus, and Australian citizens must get official permission to leave the country.

COVID-19 has turned Australia into a fortress. Its borders were closed to foreign nationals in March, helping to contain the disease but inflicting enormous economic harm. Australia is in a recession for the first time in three decades.

The exclusion of overseas tourists and students intending to study in Australia has cost Australia billions of dollars in lost revenue.

Australian citizens and permanent residents are allowed to fly home, but they must pay for mandatory hotel quarantine on their return. Tens of thousands of people are stranded in other countries because of strict quotas on those allowed into the quarantine system. Australians need official permission from the government to leave the country.

Many of Australia’s internal borders also have also been closed to curb the spread of the virus.

Most states and territories have managed to contain the virus, but reopening the country will take time, according to the Australian treasurer Josh Frydenberg.

“Domestic borders are assumed to reopen around the end of this year,” he said. “International travel, including by tourists and international students, is assumed to remain largely closed off until late next year and then gradually return over time. And a vaccine to be available around the end of 2021 is one of the assumptions in the budget.”

There is something like "comeback rule". Skaters from TOP 6 at WC can skip one, two or more seasons and during "comeback" they will have guaranteed 2 GP assignments.

yeah, and they can only use this once in their career.

though this season is obviously a fake season, and many top skaters are going to be skipping the GP. doubt they'll all qualify for comeback rules either.

It seems Japan will allow to adapt quarantine rules. If I understand correctly, this may allow a skater returning home, to get out of home to practice during its quarantine time, provided it tells in advance where it will go. As this is probably already how Yuzuru Hanyu, and a number of Japanese skaters, are living...

This exemption applies only to the athletes designated under JOC's high-performance program--Olympic hopefuls. For example, Yuzu, Shoma, Satoko, Rika are part of this program, but Koshiro currently isn't. (source)  They have to get tested negative upon entering Japan, and after entering Japan, they have to move without using any public transportation for 14 days. During this period, they should stay in their home/hotel or where they train and can only go out to move between the place to stay and the place to train. They have to stay in contact with the public healthcare center and update their condition, use a designated contact-confirming app., and make their location data available. (source)

If you are one of these designated athletes and have a home and training base around Tokyo and Osaka, you may have fewer troubles getting back on the ice. However, if you stay/train somewhere else, you have to drive long hours to get there and have to avoid contacting people along the way. You will have to charter the rink to train because local people including your rink mates and their family may want to avoid contacting someone who has just come back from abroad or hot spots like Tokyo and Osaka. If you move and stay with your family, your family may need to avoid contacting people as you do. Our government is promoting domestic travel to revive the economy, but many avoid travel because they contact people at work. Some companies even demand their employees to avoid travel or meeting someone came from hot spots, and the employees' families are feeling the pressure like theirs.

I think only a selected few can utilize this rule with luck and a lot of supports from around them. Top skaters in Japan may be able to utilize the new NTC near Kansai airport, finding a place to stay around it. However, especially when they come back to compete in Japan, they may also need to hire a physiotherapist for a long period of time to condition themselves properly. They will also need someone based there to deliver the things they need, etc. It would be better than just-quarantining, but it would not be like training as usual at all, and they will have to risk their health nevertheless.

The rest is a rant.

Spoiler

Pressured by sports governing bodies and economic organizations, our government is making decisions to ease restrictions, but that doesn't necessarily reflect what we feel or face in our daily life. While some sports events took place without having anyone tested positive directly because of them, we are seeing clusters formed in baseball and soccer leagues. Although it was before people got fully aware of the mechanism of the transmission of the virus, Sendai was hit by a cluster of infections when people gathered there to see the Olympic torch before the announcement of postponement. People like Coates, Mori, or PMs are saying Tokyo2020 will happen no matter what or stuff like that, and I am sick of it as a resident of the city. Truly sad to feel this way as a fan of an Olympic athlete. Yuzu prioritizing his and people's health and safety, and other athletes training while avoiding risks as much as possible are barely keeping me from completely hating the Olympics in general.

How about going to Canada?can Yuzu now enter Canada or the border still closed to all countries.Like in my country the border is open to  any country with covid 19 cases less than 150 000 but they have to get tested and quarantine for 14 days

This is probably the latest info regarding entering Canada
