He was slightly more tentative than at the FaOI shows up until the combo was done, which was expected given his knee issues but then he killed it in the steps. And his spins before and after were not tentative at all. 1.50 on his CSSp, finally! Only took him like.... all his career for max GOE on a spin?

Oh, Its understandable that he's a bit tentative during this skate. He had a bad practice before, skate at no.2. I'm glad he looked calm during the 6mins warm up, and didn't jump too much. Dont mind me and my strictness  You know I'm gonna watch this on repeat for the next few days  And yeah, it took them so long to give him full goe on his spins. I think his camel spin is also better than ever, the extension is gorgeous :smiley-love017:

As for the costume. I went to sleep and dream that his new costume is white/pink with 10x more bling bling than usual :rubeye: so I;'m fine with this old one. I think Shirota-san mention he has a new Chopin costume, maybe its not ready ?

Oh I was agreeing with you! He was less free and more careful here than at FaOI for sure, until he got the jumps done. I want to see this skated when he's not worrying about his knee or lack of practice.

Protocols highlights:

-eight 10s (most in composition-3)

-:goe: across the board for axel and 4S

-LV4 ST SEQ!!!

I think I counted nine 10s in there... but yeah, nitpicking!

I'm just happy the judges really appreciated his performance!

Oh, they have differently angled shots. I guess they had someone there to take footage.

But yes, HD!

If he does well tomorrow, would he break his old WR? o_O What a scary start to the season for the other men....and to think they could catch him....

I don't agree with either of you. I thought he skated it exactly right for this piece of music and I would be thrilled if he could repeat this performance at the Olympics. This is Chopin, not Let's Go Crazy.

It seems Brian understood French, and told Yuzu it's 112 after French announcement.

Yuzu was like "Twelve? What is twelve?", then he heard the score in English.

He also says the gesture at the end  was for Brian, "Look, the first jump was Salchow but I could do this so well. " (サルコーだったけど、でも、ちゃんとここまでできたよ、ほら見て)

Now that I've watched the video on youtube, his gesture at the end reminds me of a casual shrug at the end of a practice session, something like "guess this was okay?" It's not really smug. And it's nice to see that he's able to view a competition run as a normal session, rather than get too gun-ho. It's something he learned from last year (finally!) that sometimes less intensity, a little less emotion in your brain, is good to let your body really take over and let your practice shine.

May I just say: Welcome back +3 GOE. You've been sorely missed.

For me it was absolutely perfect. And FaOI is an ice show after all.

Those of you who thought it was perfect won't survive him at his peak. It's gonna be Fist of the North Star up in here! (Maybe not the nicest imagery but, you know, I just saw the PS4 trailer so...)
