Haha, I didn't know Brian came back to the pancake metaphor again after the SP..

Let's hope we'll get a lovely pancake stack this season :party0021:

Some random thoughts about yesterday's skate.

A friend of mine, who also loves figure skating, looked at Yuzu's SP this morning (she is not crazy enough not to sleep at 3 am as I did) and she said that it was quite boring and not emotional. I barely found words to mumble something about the first competition of the season and the knee pain (shame on me, never eloquent enough to describe his skating on the spot).

But it made me reflect what I felt about it.
What I saw, he was very concentrated. I love the "exalted" Chopin from summer skates, but yesterday's one has an important advantage for me. Not to mention that even from the first look, there is a special nobility in this self-absorption, alienation (in my vision, this piece of Chopin is really very detached (?) (not sure to choose the right terms; need to expand my English vocabulary for Yuzu))... But most importantly, I'm really happy that now he has grown up mentally and has this margin of strength and confidence to be as strong as he seemed yesterday. Perhaps he really was saving his energy for the FP. That's great: he no longer has to literally burn himself out to get a world record and/or to win (and he knows it!). And his close connection with the team now, it's such a relief. All this makes me particularly happy having in mind the Olympic season. In other words, this skate calmed my soul (until tonight, as usual).

This thread was moving so fast that I have no idea if this was already shared here, so I do it just in case  I love this team so much :10636614:

His kind of focus yesterday (this morning in my country) is a different kind of focus he rarely shows. We are so used to see his "I'm gonna skate the living daylights out of me focus" that we tend to forget he has another to his arsenal, his "Let's get this over with" kind of focus. When that is on he is lazer sharp, attentive (like most of you have said) and his reflexes are so good you can expect zero to no mistake. Aside from today's sp another product of that kind of focus is the legendary H&L at Worlds. Finally he understood Brian. He shouldn't be so intense. When he's in this mode his focus evolves to overthinking. It mess him up mentally and eventually physically. Little by little he has learned to control his emotions. Our boy is maturing. He's just 22y/o after all.

Skating orders for today. Yuzu is skating third to last in his group, before Javi and Nam.

Quoting myself from the general ACI thread.

Are we gonna have a new thread for men's FS or we go with this one?

New, new.

Just put it up. If anyone's keen on talking about the FS we are here:

With an actual squishable pooh head for a hood..for Yuzu...:POOH:

give him pooh gloves with squishable head, when yuzu shakes his hand before  skating out to start, he can automatically squeeze pooh's head....

:smiley-love017:i got to meet him after I came back from filling myself with noodles. Took a pic with him and got to thank him and tell him how glad I was that I could watch him skate once more:10742289: his smile after I said that melted my heart, I hope he continues to be happy 💖

The narrative today in the Spanish La Marca journal is so passive aggressive...
