It's bizarre to me that people still consider Plushenko to be GOAT (Oh, god, the ham! The arms! The pantomime!) and it's incredible to see how much Yuzuru admires him. He's already far surpassed him.

It's not bizarre to me at all. Plushenko already left his name in FS history (like him or not). I have this memory in my mind that I liked young Plushenko more than Yagudin. I thought he had more natural talent: he was flexible, had charisma, felt the music in a way, had great jumps (Yagudin had much better programmes from TAT that's for sure). All that posing and pantomime came later. Of course it's just my childhood impression and if I'll take a look at his old programmes now, maybe I'll find a lot to nitpick about. But maybe because it's my childhood impression that's why I can understand why Yuzu still admires him)) Also that's why I think what Javi wrote under that photo is quite OK (it's like a respect to the already r****d and famouse athlete).

And oh what would I'd give to see such an interview with Plush and Yuzu

Oh right... Nigiita is tommorow........ :13877886:l

Lol Anony, I just noticed your custom title. I love it. Puns, all the puns! And with that avatar, it looks quite fitting (even if it's a bear more than a cat but still).

I pun shamelessly :14289753:

It's actually a coping mechanism for the lack of content :13877886:

Consistent, yes, but I find his jumps to be ugly, strained, off axis. He comes to almost a complete stop after many of them. It's been said of Yuzuru that he gains speed coming out of his jumps! I'd rather a skater maintain quality and beauty than sacrifice it for consistency, though I'm not someone hellbent on winning medals. Clean H&L was phenomenal but I felt a slight disappointment at the safe entries into the 3A.

(I feel the same about Evgenia's skating as I do about Plushenko and she too receives the same praise for consistency more than anything related to artistry.)

You left me confused . Safe entries into the 3A?

The way he talks about it, it wouldn't surprise me if he stays on for another 4 years. He'd only be Javi's current age come 2022, and there are plenty of sports where men in their early 30's and late 20's were still bringing it to the youngsters (Federer anyone?). And unlike a lot of sports, figure skating is one that's more about steady output, and how you pace yourself-you don't have to react to someone else's serve. And I suspect Yuzu still hasn't fully peaked yet...I was reading somewhere that men tend to start physically declining after 26 on average in sports, but the peak age can sometimes still be 27-30.

Japanese precedent in a judged sport - Uchimura - 23 and 27 when he won his OGMs

I'm slightly confused too, I don't think his entries were that different from what he used in Seimei and seemed more difficult than what they were in POTO. Particularly the entrance into the 3A1/2Lo3S.
