Those towels seem to sell very well already - so I'd look for some other merchandise if I were organisers.

One photo will do to sell everything

Anyway I don't think we'll get anything more today. It's late evening in Japan already.

Sigh... this is why Twitter has learned to survive with just one photo of him a day.

Just one kitty!Yuzu pic and the memes have exploded lol!

...Too hard to admit that the actual GOAT is your contemporary and training mate, am I rite?

I felt slightly uncomfortable looking at that caption. Will Plushenko repost it, I wonder?

I thought I would be the only one salty enough to find it annoying  Mmh, I don't think he will repost it, like it at best. It would be too auto-referential, imo.

Plus, Plushenko would agree with us on who's the real GOAT.

To be fair, I think it'd be controversial if he said anything else - even Yuzu would probably insist it's a true statement - or call Yuzu GOAT. But he could have used different terms. Then again, IMO, things like that are subjective, at the end of the day, so Javi's allowed to believe whatever he wants. (And if he underestimates Yuzu, tough luck for him...)

Yes, yes, it's true that mine was just a little joke. Javi can say whatever he wants, and of course it would be more 'normal' for him to recognize an older skater as a goal (for him), instead of recognizing Yuzuru, who is younger than him and his current biggest rival.

Actually, Javi has already said things about Yuzu that I found very surprising, considering they're rivals, since usually it seems to me that athletes need to believe they are the best in order to win. But Javi has said that when Yuzu's perfect nobody can touch him (paraphrasing). That's already huge. Also, I think contemporary athletes don't usually think of each other in terms of GOAT, because they can't really grasp the history. It's always some predecessor who is GOAT, even if a contemporary has broken all the predecessor's records (I can only think of Formula 1 now... Hamilton is close to breaking Senna's poles record, but I can't imagine anyone thinking that makes Hamilton better than Senna... it probably doesn't help that I don't like Hamilton though lol)

Less seriously, maybe it's a typo and in fact there was a 'secon' between 'the' and 'best' ;)

It's bizarre to me that people still consider Plushenko to be GOAT (Oh, god, the ham! The arms! The pantomime!) and it's incredible to see how much Yuzuru admires him. He's already far surpassed him.

Yes, it's true that when someone is still competing in the present it's hard to describe them as GOAT. Much like most geniuses in history were recognized way after their death, like Bach, Mozart, Van Gogh, etc etc. Because it's easier to glorify someone when they belong to the past, while it's harder to recognize real greatness when you have it right in front of you. Luckily, we have hundreds of wonderful comments from commentators and figure skating experts (aside from all the world records and the gold medals) which make it pretty clear that Yuzuru changed the sport like no one else did before him. And Javi and the rest of the top figure skaters have the hard job to compete against a living legend, and try to transform that thought into something encouraging and motivating them to win anyways.

(This is slightly off-topic but it's not like Niigata's gonna give us anything soon HAHAHA)

It's true that Yuzuru could still learn something from Plushenko - not only Yuzuru, but every male figure skating. Plushenko had an incredible jump consistency! Maybe that is a bit overrated by some, but it's true that these things are very subjective in the end...

Don't worry about it. Yuzu will agree with his training mate anyway. And it will be 10x more intense.:rofl:If you're still uncomfortable about it, just think of it as another 'LOL Javi' comment. :smiley-cool14:
