I asked Max Ambesi what he thought about Yuzuru's SP choice on facebook and he only said this: "Many are choosing the old-but-safe road. Must be the new trend". 

So I guess we shouldn't panic as much as we are.

I know he's smart and he probably knows what he's doing. But I guess because he's been driving the sport forward so much in the past 4 years, it's disappointing to see what seems like a step back.

 

As for 4Lz in short... I don't know. Why do it with 4Lo then? Why not just do the old layout? The only upgrade I can think of is 4T-3T becoming 4T-4T... but I don't know if that's even possible (although it does seem like he's been contemplating second combo jump quads)

 

and I almost feel like he owes us somehing crazy after that (not really)

He can't do that. SP rules require combos to be 3-2, 3-3, 4-2 or 4-3. No 4-4 allowed in the rules. 

Ok the pic of him with the black tee and plaid drapey thingy around his waist is cute for a moment I forgot about the initial confusion and shock behind the third Chopin short..

 

I'd say we wait.. patiently to see what kind of upgrade/new stuff he'd bring into it. I think we should try to think positively. No matter how hard it seems.

I shall take your advice. *sighs* I'm sure I'll get over this, but for now I'm still a little stunned. I guess I'm starting to think I'm fine with Chopin, but only if he upgrades his BV from LGC, not chopin 2.0. He worked so hard on that 4s-3t last season, I feel kind of sad to think he gave up on it. If he puts in a 4Lz in the new SP, then he can put in the 4s-3t and it won't be all edge jumps. He can do it from a more familiar entry and nail it then. I just want a layout upgrade, he doesn't even need to change choreo or music cuts and I'll be fine with it...

Yeah. I think that's why I've been pretty chill compared to everyone. I don't want to put out any negative energy to Yuzu. This is his first ice show/appearance since WTT. He hasn't had time to actually get together with Jeff due to conflicting schedules. He doesn't even have a new costume. This one is definitely still a work in progress.

I don’t think he is skating actual layout now. It’s a show and this is Olympic season. Staying healthy is top priority and he doesn’t have to show everything here and now. It's too early to be disappointed I think...
