So he actually upgrade his layout now,which is good enough. Maybe we should wait more time for the layout improvement.But as we know, the short program couldn't help you win the game, but it could let you lose the game, so I don't mind YUZURU stay in his comfort zone in SP. Olympic gold is the biggest thing.

the more I think about it, the less nervous I'm getting about Chopin3.. if he's comfortable with the music/choreo, he'll have more time to focus on getting the jumps clean

You know, I argued at GS with someone that Yuzu wouldn't go back to the 4T3T combo and now I have to eat my words. I can understand the need to make sure he has a steady combo he can trust in his SP after this season's troubles, but it would make so much more sense to me if he was planning on adding the 4Lz instead of just moving the combo to the second half for the BV increase.

I wonder if this means he's changed his jump style so he doesn't hurt his foot anymore? Though no idea...

 

And actually, maybe this is the safe option... maybe he'll try a risky version, like @Anony suggested and see how it goes, but has this to fall back on... I know he never downgrades, but... OGM seems more important now...

 

But I kind of wish he'd troll us and tomorrow play LGC and say that's actually his new SP... then Sunday do PW and say he already won OGM with that, so that's his new SP... imagine implosions all around

Since Yuzuru wanted to do two completely different programs, my hopes of Cyberbird Concerto FS(bird theme + very different from SP) is still alive  using that logic I think we're safe from R&J 3.0, not from POTO tho 

 

If he goes for that layout which seems insane but he's also Yuzuru Hanyu,  with 2nd half bonus counted for, his BV would be up in the 53+ zone  

 

Initially shocked but if it helps him win his second Oympic gold, I'm all in. Even skating to POTO in that awful NDP costume for Free Program.

 

Original choreography for Chopin Ballade 1.0 was stunning, perfectly to the music.

54.48 BV. But one new jump and one new combo in a SP even with known choreo? Nah. 

 

Now I need to re-check COC 2014 Chopin 1.0, since apparently it's the only time he did the original choreo and compare to the following Chopin's to see where things changed the most.

Seriously though, how much can he or anyone rise their BV in the SP for next season anyway? I think that the real fight is going to happen in the FS with skaters going for 4+ quads, which is a huge risk on its own. So, having a safe SP that he has a better chance of skating clean is the smarter move. He did win his first OG with his SP after all.

IF he downgrades his layout (now I'm thinking probably not), I think it's normal to question it because it's the Olympic season. He's been steadily upgrading his layout for 7 years (except if you count 2 years of PW) and to have him downgrade it just in time for the Olympics is something I will question. I definitely will want to hear his reasoning behind it because I simply don't think it's a good strategy and I'm interested to hear why he'd think so, since he never took this approach before. It's not a wish or anything.... just simply don't think it's a good plan if he wants to win, that's all. Isn't that what happened to Patrick at Sochi? I know Yuzu is not Patrick, but I don't underestimate the rest of the guys. Everyone is upgrading, even Patrick (not sure yet about Javi), and anyone can win. I don't think it's the time to get insecure and downgrade (so probably he won't).

About some disappointment in the music choice, I can kinda get it. We've seen it for 2 years and it went through like 3 layout changes, then got a new LGC for a year, only to come back to chopin again. Chopin is my fave SP program from him so I kinda got over it quickly but well.. anyway it doesn't mean that us fans are so disappointed that we'll stop supporting him. We'll always support him.

Ok,  the 4T3T right in the note give me life. I dont mind Chopin 3.0 anymore

I mean a quad combo past the second half is every bit of insane as it can be so at this point I'm throwing out whatever ridiculous thought that comes to mind, realistic or not
