  1. Hello!! Thanks a lot for your effort in translating and welcome~ This.. thanks for adding it. Even before this additional nuance I actually could somehow sense or try to see the situation in there.. at the whacky situation he's in (I mean.. really, I couldn't believe they just let him ran around searching for Yuzu without telling him where or what has happened.. at least give him more than just oh he's somewhere else no big deal.. well OFC it WAS for him) I think Brian perfectly understood what he needed to do and tried his best to give some sense of normalcy to Yuzu. I figured Yuzu must've also realized that Brian would know something's off and he'd also appreciate Brian's effort of not fussing over it instead just move them along as best as he could. The series of unfortunate incidents might seem too many up to now but against all odds Yuzu is still fired up and getting stronger.. let's hope things will only get brighter and stars would align better and shine light on him. I know, he already IS the light, but I think it wouldn't hurt to get some support.. (might not make much sense but let's just pretend)
  2. Hello guys.. I'm keeping up with off season steadily. Hope you all are doing fine! Enjoyed the compilation by @Henni147 I just.. this is kinda embarrassing and random but I recently found out that Blinding Light is quite recent.. (shows how much I keep up with global music scene) Also reading that extra news from WC and I was ??? at how it seemed like Brian wasn't notified on Yuzu's whereabout before he had to ask? Like they just let him seek Yuzu/let him eventually asked them where he was or why he wasn't there warming up.. I mean idk how things go at competition but it sounded strange to me. Other than that ofc Brian figured out something was off. Anyway I was already iffy of the whole event since the beginning so... /shrug
  3. Oh wow that must've been A sparkling dinner.. I hope next time we're allowed to travel and the world goes back closer to the old normal we can meet up (or more like, I can have the chance to).. I do really miss traveling. I see.. I was checking out this skincare/beauty marketplace a while ago and saw the brand's getting positive review. But yea good for your wallet for sure About the earthquake, I hope everyone's fine.. I saw that there's no tsunami warning so that's one thing. I hope Yuzu is fine too he's been stressed with it since before Worlds and it happened again. Where I live there was a 6. something earthquake 3 weeks ago and it happened while I was on this Zoom meeting with colleagues at work and it was pretty chaotic. Also if I were to comment on the no-mask group pic/selfie from ice show, I don't think we need to overanalyze it.. it's bound to happen due to the nature of the activity. I'd like to think of it like I'm gathering with my work colleagues (whom I can't be sure about their activity/interaction outside, if they have any), and we take group pic while having dinner at one's place, mask-less. Probably can't be an ideal comparison but it's one I could think of. While I don't think having the ice show with barely any bubble/ideal condition is right, I can't really punish the skaters for taking a group pic that way.. I'm sure many would prefer to see them with mask, but it's how it is. Just hope everyone participating, including the audience will stay healthy and take utmost precaution with everything else.
  4. Seems like there are plenty of you in academia as well.. and in PhD some more! I think I can probably learn a thing or two from you guys.. Anyway are we officially entering off season now?? In a way I'm relief that it's over.. I hope Yuzu will take his time recuperating before he drills his body into practicing 4A again and hope he will stay healthy! Kinda OOT but has anyone actually tried Sekkisei product? It's cool that they made the poster with the theme of Yuzu's outfit~
  5. Oh wow Happy 4th birthday everyone!!! Hopefully the new year will bring about new, better change for all of us!! On the Thesis/article topic, it sure has generated massive interests.. while not all are in positive sentiment, I still have hope that eventually, what he's dreaming, aiming to achieve for the sport will come to fruition in one way or another. IF there is only ONE person that's able to do it right, then may he be guided to reach it. Quoting a famous quote from a movie, which seems pretty appt for Yuzu: Even if the whole world is telling you to move, it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye, and say 'No, you move'.
  6. So I saw the link and when I tried to download it crashed like many! /not like I can understand Japanese but so I can contribute to that download numbers I'm surprised at how quick they put out the download link for the published journal article of his thesis.. and for free some more. If anyone wondering, it is a scientific paper published in a journal (by the univ), so obviously it was formatted/edited as an article and not as a full research report like his thesis. Depending on the journal requirement, usually a paper can range between 6 to 12 pages, comprising of the introduction, lit review (or theoretical background), method, and discussion/result/analysis, including abstract, conclusion and references. Basically similar format to the full thesis but much comprised, or taken only a few important substance, whichever the author wanted to include (or whichever suits the journal theme) in the publication. (I gotta say picking apart the full thesis/report and structure it for a journal can be a pain in the butt but definitely a much easier read for others interested in the topic so good for them to make it available for free!!) Also since it's an academic or scientific paper, it IS supposed to be neutral.. his research tried analyzing a chosen trend or phenomenon or solving a problem with an acceptable scientific method. So if any media even reported and citing names (which are not even there in his work), they KNEW the problem.. or WHO are the problem. Obviously they're completely aware of that. That's like admitting it themselves, I wonder if they realized because it's hilarious.
  7. Tbh when I first saw the lights from the audience it reminds me of kpop concerts with fans holding/swinging the lightstick haha! Also the technology now allows it to be controlled/programmed so it could change color or blink accordingly (sorry bad description) but ofc that can't always work for skating unless it's exhibition when the lights are mostly out. Seconding your sentiment on the concert, I would definitely do so too.. /might have to save some good amount of money though p.s. also hello @ nct doyoung~ i know him Oh and on the topic of his thesis.. usually it will be published in the univ repository or whatever equivalent of it before it's published in a scientific journal. When it's published in a journal, our chance of publicly accessing it may be higher. But it could be different in Jpn I'm not at all familiar with it. By the years he took to carefully did the research and wrote the thesis I feel like he could be eligible for a masters but I think it's amazing and admirable how he's managed to achieve that!! The thing about thesis or academic paper is, as much significance or highly important it is, not many are actually used to bring about change.. so the fact that he crafted his work with a purpose to make the sport better (to say it simply) makes me wish more that one day, it could be implemented or at least be considered as a solution..
  8. why is this so funny.. Also on the topic of his 4A wildin it's true that by showing it in practice w/ news cams he knew there would be some footage in different angles and he so would use that to analyze his forms, timings, and what not, then take note and do whatever scientific thing to later implement in his practice.. not saying he hasn't recorded any of his private practice but I'd assume it's somewhat different. And yes I think he also would like to make that statement to the world. We shall be patient and hope he'll stay safe and healthy!
  9. Yes I think his references of music is pretty wide so it's definitely possible that he also enjoys lots of pop music. I'd love to see his playlist he probably has multiple of it set for specific occasion or mood just like us mere human..
  10. Thanks!! edit: oops omg I'm sorry I was meant to add this reply to my already posted comment but for some reason it posted as a new comment.. my apologies. And I have nothing to contribute fjklasj hmm.... ahh... well anyway I hope Yuzu's having a good quarantine time and eating lots of good food (like pudding, strawberry, gyoza) and his training is going well!
  11. Aah ok thank you!! It looks elegant actually.. but I think it's not really for people with smaller wrist. I was trying to recall if I had read about it somewhere before but my memory is getting weaker so I can't really trust anymore lol. I'd just consider I haven't read about it before.. but imagine him jamming to their songs using his expensive hi-tech earphone??
  12. Wow thread got long only for it to be dominated on such discussion.. which actually didn't really need to be nit-picked so much.. I guess it's ok if anyone has certain opinion but I don't think it's ok to keep beating around the bush over it. One should be able to 'read' the room and know when to stop. That's just my opinion. I personally think, like Yuzu himself has said, there are pro and cons of him training by himself.. what we need to do isn't to decide for him because well, who are we really?? We can have opinion on whats 'best', but Yuzu is the one living his life and he'd know best what would work best for him according to his situation. I believe he can make his own wise decision. That's all I'm gonna say about it. Anyway the random facts thread is precious!!! Some I'm aware of, a few I was not.. btw anyone remember where did Yuzu share his story about mistaking tomato for that paprika?? I remember that story but didn't recall where he mentioned it.. I myself is the opposite, I'd be glad to have paprika than tomato haha. Also the new watch does look huge for women actually.. I mean compared to the last one.
  13. Aahhh weekday's only proceeding for 2 days but thread already growing quite a lot haha.. I'm struggling to check news/comments here but I wanna at least visit once in a while.. Anyway I've listened to the podcast cut and wow his English!! Who knows maybe if he's been practicing during quarantine as well along with his cough4Acough.. ofc there will be freedom of managing stuff on his own, though at first and at times it can be challenging, especially with little to no direct supervision and care. However he's done well this past year. When situation is much better, and it's possible and safe for him to travel, and should he need to, then he can continue his training in Canada. Whichever best for them.. And the be someone's light board doesn't he look cute?! but also I wanna say he has been so many people's light since.. he will not need to worry about that and I wish we can also shine hope and positivity and channel it to him too whenever he needs it. I saw the Osaka case rising and then the no quarantine for foreign skaters is getting worrying but oh well...
  14. crying because the moving topic for the last few pages is actually about if yuzu has marvelous a** shake jflkfjaskl I personally never really pay that much attention to it and feel indifferent about it.. but maybe I'm among the minorities here In the other topic, good for his another award from his uni!! And in the topic of SOI, that's how scary media play could be (or wtv you call it) and some might just fall victims to it.. I hope it can be resolved well but the most important thing is that I just want Yuzu to come out of it unscathed.. physically and mentally. We all need to be careful and filter wisely to what's going on in social media these days..
  15. Hello Lynn.. hope you're doing fine~ I completely get about how forum can make you nervous and that's ok.. you made a post so that's something, right?? If you're aware that twitter has been making you feel drained, then it might be a good decision to stay away from it for a while. Do and enjoy something else! What do you like? classical music? Go listen/watch the clip.. k-drama? binge watch it maybe.. or watch some random yuzu clip on YouTube, that sounds cool too~ anything will do to freshen your mind up a bit. Only you know what would work. Fandom is supposed to be enjoyable and while there are times we're tense or stressed from the object of that fandom, if it gets too in your head it's not good. I think there's still a positive side to it that we can focus our mind into.. everything will be fine eventually. Meanwhile, let's enjoy this healing content.. hope this can help. https://twitter.com/__pino_____/status/1377062599636918272?s=20 p.s. oh man I forgot how to embed..
  16. Hey guys.. this is quite random but does anyone has the link to the compilation of yuzu's squeaky noises?? I saw it few days ago? or last week? on Twitter but lost it and want to show my friend that.. Also I think as best as we could, we should distance ourselves from all the negative posts. Even if it means staying in our own little bubble.. the most important thing is to have fun and positive experience. Don't let it affect you too much~
  17. Ooohh maann... this is one of the most unforgettable performances for sure.. not only the skate itself but the reactions!! Priceless! I hope we can see that similar reaction again someday.. the way he's almost like wishing good score to come and when it did!! So deserved.. I actually just happened to re-watch this last night without realizing it's the anniversary today.. hope it's like a good omen.
  18. I mean.. I was not expecting Yuzu to get selected for WTT.. But while it's for now still to be happening, and he's in the list.. and while I do wish the event wouldn't take place, especially with the strange quarantine approach for international skaters, what we can do now is to hope, that IF it does go as planned, more safety precaution will be taken and it will go safely for everyone involved. We don't know yet the final outcome of the Worlds, since incubation is two weeks.. not to say I'm hoping there will be case. But still I think stricter measure should HAVE been carried at the event knowing the condition happening in there, and worldwide. IF there really will be no more case even after normal quarantine period, then they hit the jackpot.. a good one.. because what would be the probability? It's not about that 'not many people get infected so the event is fine after all', because people have the right to be worried and concerned about the world's pandemic.. and the virus.. especially those who have seen firsthand the effect. So let's not take it lightly..
  19. Hello there! Hope you'll enjoy your time here~ As answered before, it's mostly the narrative.. figure skating isn't exactly like tennis or most of other sports. Those experts, added with the media and feds narratives influenced it further. Now I don't follow Nate's career so I can't attest to how consistent he is.. however, Yuzu himself isn't inconsistent by any standard. Plus he's been in the league for over 10 yrs (seniors) if that longevity and achievements doesn't say something idk what will. But again, it's natural that people start to look for story, a contender, who can go above Yuzu and that, now, is Nathan. His advantage is obvious, his technical elements.. he doesn't need to execute all in perfect quality and it'll be enough to beat Yuzu because that's what the judges will give. No matter if his component score or overall quality is average. Unless Yuzu has perfect, flawfree program, they might not reward him as he should. Anyway that kind of competition narrative is what they want.. they're longing for a new star, maybe. Ofc I'm not saying that Yuzu will be the only star worthy, because if there exists such quality like Yuzu then we'll be able to see it, the thing is we (I'm saying we generally) don't. I'm more concerned that it has come to such expense that he may think he's not gonna get rewarded properly or that they don't appreciate his improvement due to the corrupted judging.. such a shame really because I used to enjoy just watching skating more while now it's hard to overlook such unfairness (not talking only about Yuzu as we know..). Sorry I feel like I'm going off on tangent haha..
  20. Woke up to smiley eyed yuzu arriving hope he'll have a good, safe quarantine!! I know he must be itching to come back to his new baby 4A but hope he makes sure he rests up enough first haha. Also responding to the above question, idk if he wants to sacrifice any of his existing quads now but for sure he would have to replace one jump for his new baby 4A. Maybe he will do only 1 3A but idk.. I mean I wouldn't be surprised if he's already started thinking of the layout for when the baby is ready..
  21. This is awesome omg??!! It can't be more apt that it's a billboard above Disney store~~ I wonder if that marketing/media staff at Google is slowly falling into the charm that is Yuzu if he/she wasn't yet already.. Anyway merry Christmas for those celebrating and happy holidays!!! My apologies again for not being able to be active here.. I still lurk whenever competitions happen.
  22. Hello guys... very long time no see. I now have resurfaced for the new 2019/2020 season, along with the start of new academic year in here that I have to manage (excuse me work is a stressful bish). May not post here that often like always.. but I feel like I need to say hi to everyone. Amidst the hoo haa that's the questionable scoring that is ACI2019.. I, in my warm headed mind fume over if they cannot, or dont want to reward such polished skating, turn a blind eye at it because he's Yuzu, then it's like giving him reason to just say fck it or don't bother anymore.. but since it IS Yuzu that we know, he would just be frustrated, and get fired up to UP his content even more and practice harder. I really really hope that he will be rewarded fairly, but we can only hope right.. If anything, the sport does not deserve such athlete like him he's too good for it and if he's in any other sport, they'd go over the highest mountain for him. Anyway.. I look forward to the upgrade he'll bring and I know it'll blow me away. Congrats for his first pancake! Even if he considers it a lacking outing.. I'd call this a solid start. Here's to a more flourished, injury free, rewarding season!! p.s. I have to say his scrunchy face staring at the scores both days is adorable!! oh man this has to top the page too..
  23. Hey guys.. again, long time no see!! I finally caught up (ish) on Worlds (I still haven't got to check the gala perf.).. also glad that Yuzu decided to sit WTT out because he really needs to recuperate still. I actually have a request, I hope it's ok to ask here.. I was chatting online with a friend of mine (not a fs/yuzu fan but we're in the middle of talking about him) and got to the him missing the WTT event. Then she's like 'he (Yuzu) should participate in pair competition too!!' and I jokingly replied that he's got potential and initially wanted to link her some pics/gifs of Yuzu doing what pairs/ice dancer would do (i.e. getting lifted/sbs jump/any sync move with another skater) but I'm limited in my ability to backtrack or find the footage so if any of you can help link me some of those stuff I'd so appreciate!! Thanks before !!
  24. Hi guys... I've been away for so long because real life, work has completely taken my whole time and I'm kinda regretful that I can't spend even just a little time to be active here. But having said that, I feel like I need to post something here in a light of the recent event that happened.. I was so overjoyed after his short, because for some reason it felt so special and that I can see him radiating such joy and happiness while skating, it was just the most gorgeous thing ever. I have to be honest that I actually was worried if it's too good to be true (and damn at my anxious self) only to see the next morning that he had to be hurt again.. I have confident that he'll recover well in time but I'm more sad that it had to happen again.. and that the fact that he knew it could happen again and how he's gonna have to overcome the hardship like this.. he sounded so regretful and frustrated that he can't give his best even while he's at that condition, it breaks my heart I wish he doesn't have to feel such thing EVER. He does not need to be flawfree everytime and if he's unwell he IS allowed to not be ok and fall and still said that he tried his very best! Now I can only hope and pray that he'll be at the better state of mind and condition soon.. with the strong support system that he has, I believe he'll be able to overcome this well, just like before. p.s. guys.. I wanna ask if there's a thread for media/clips from the event that I can go to if I wanna catch up to stuff? sorry I've been so out of the loop in here
  25. ^ lol it took me a long second to realize what that mutual meant... like same. Aaw yes for that big group photo!! A friend of mine was wondering if Yuzu was even in the shot (because he's lifted) but ofc Misha wouldn't fail us.. I watched The Swan already and what a mesmerizing program... I think I ran out of words to describe the beauty. It's too bad that the camerawork (from this channel at least) was rather messy. It didn't even capture his Biellmann properly.. hopefully other channels got it.
