2018 Worlds - Milano (Tickets)

It's not like Australians don't travel to Europe/UK all the time, though. Maybe I sound more insane to you lucky people in the Northern Hemisphere but it's just the way it is being stuck at the bottom of the world. To clarify, I'd have a stop-over in Dubai for a few hours so I think the flying itself would be managable.

I can't know if it's worth it having never seen him before but this past hour or so contemplating giving up has made my heart feel like it's being stabbed by ice-cold syringes so it might be worth it if only to avoid the pain of despair. I do know that nothing has ever moved me so much as to even contemplate travelling to see it (not to mention putting myself through a year of training for it.) I suppose if I have to sell a kidney to stay a week in advance then I guess it might be worth it to make sure I'm well enough to enjoy the competition. Or maybe my relatives could find some room for me in a cupboard. I'd be travelling alone again, @KatjaThera, so I guess it will be beneficial for once! :tumblr_inline_ncmif5EcBB1rpglid:

Injury aside, I'm positive he'll show. I'm sure this won't be his last season but it'll be the last chance to see these masterpieces, not to mention UA SEIMEI, the hidden masterpiece!

@Neenah Thanks for your advice! :tumblr_inline_mueoe3Yabh1qdlkyg:

The last chance to see Seimei and Chopin... we have to be there :sadPooh: we have to say those perfect programs goodbye :sadPooh: OH NOES HOW CAN I ALREADY FEEL LIKE I MISS CHOPIN AND MILAN IS STILL LIKE FOUR MONTHS AWAY

My experience is similar to @KatjaThera's. Going to my destination, I barely have any time to feel jetlag, as my attention is focused on navigating my way through unfamiliar territory, and also I think partly because I'm feeling excitement looking forward to my trip. So it doesn't take too much effort to keep awake at the local hours since I'm usually trying to make the most of my time at my destination, not to mention I usually use the time after arrival to unpack and get myself ready for sightseeing or whatever activity I have planned. (The difference though is that my long distance travel usually goes in the opposite direction -- east-to-west.)

In my recent trip to Moscow I don't remember feeling any jetlag after arriving. Slept at normal hours, though granted by the time I got to my hotel it was already almost midnight, so really there was nothing else to do than to go to sleep lol. But the next day I was energised enough to go sightseeing the whole day in the city, and wake up consecutive early hour days after that.

When I flew back home that's when the jetlag hit me though. I think it took me about 2 or 3 days of long hours of sleep to recover. Made me feel old actually, as when I was younger I really wasn't familiar with the concept of jetlag lol. But don't worry about it too much as it's nothing that adequate rest and sleep can't remedy, though I agree with everyone that the effects can vary from person to person.

And for the record, I don't think you're crazy for intending to do this  If you feel like the regret from not going is gonna feel so much worse than any jet lag you might have to deal with, then that's reason enough to go through all this effort, practicalities be damned.

:consoling2: It's the withdrawal. Hang in there, it's only maybe a few more weeks god why isn't there any news yet this is nuts. The cruelest thing about the injury is not that there's a lack of medals or that his Olympic chances are more up in the air but that the world has been robbed of these masterpieces! Maaaaybe we might get 3peat SEIMEI some day - retirement EX? - but I think Chopin is going up state to live on a farm.

Chopin will be like those celebrities going around with sunglasses and hoodies avoiding paparazzis. Every little aspiring skater will watch it and maybe try to replicate the moves on their own while practicing. Chopin legacy :sadPooh: (which sounds like a pun, if you say it with the same rythm as 'hope and legacy' LOL)

There will have to be news by his birthday... right?! A nice little photo of him eating cake while doing a 3A... u know, for the GOE points...

Ever helpful katonice! Thank you for allaying my fears. :) I don't at all mind wasting 3 days to right myself. Actually, I think that's an absolute bargain! I'm used to building that sort of preparation/recovery time into my plans, anyway.

All these tips on keeping busy and alert and the benefits of solo travel have been really helpful. :)

I'm sure just as with my NHK trip I'll gain something valuable from this one no matter how it turns out, even if that thing is just a harsh life lesson.

I'm sure there would have to at least be a kuyashii-filled interview about GPF but who knows how up to date the footage will be. I don't really want to see his sad face again, though, so maybe just cake.

No sad face. Just cake. Write it on a goddamn banner.

Okay, cake and maybe a quad? Just a lil' tiny cute lil' quad?

Events other than men fs not selling well? :waffle:

My only consolation is that the good seats are probably gone so it's a good thing that I didn't wait till now to buy the tickets....they better don't release better tickets during this period...:waffle:

Found some gorgeous rooms on Airbnb in Milan, just from a quick scan (look at this! https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/2691045?location=Milan%2C Metropolitan City of Milan%2C Italy&check_in=2018-03-23&check_out=2018-03-25&s=g7MBTGaV). I probably won't book until I arrive in Europe in late Jan and settle into my exchange university but if anyone's interested in splitting an Airbnb in Milan (I'm just going for the Mens LP at this stage), feel free to message me ( :
