My place is supposed to be 21 minutes away by M2 so hopefully there's no strike going on :fingerscrossed:

I found this info. I'm sorry for making people worried.

https://www.italiarail.com/strike-information

"If your train is providing local transport during essential services for the peak times (from 06:00 to 09:00 and from 18:00 to 21:00 Mon-Sat) these will be guaranteed. Some long-distance trains are also guaranteed on all days, including holidays."

And here is the website advising of scheduled strikes for the Lombardy region.

>_> Sorry about that.

It seems pretty impossible to get anywhere less than a 30min trip away. Shuttle buses would be nice, though Google maps tells me there's terrible congestion anytime I check driving times (and driving seems to take a lot longer than the train, anyway.)

Why hasn't anyone built a stadium with a hotel in it yet? :yznotimpressed:

I wonder if we drown them in messages they'll open gala practice to ticket holders. It worked for CoR, right? Skating Gods, hear our prayers. :snonegai:

No reason to be sorry, I just wonder why I didn't get any for so long... maybe because I didn't check the thread after the last notice, but I haven't checked these days, either...

I think I saw at one point that trams have longer schedules than subways, but I'm not at all sure about that... I have to do proper research... or well, worst case, if Yuzu happens to start practice at 6am, we could always camp overnight :P (Although I'd really rather not...)

Hmm bugging them about gala practice would be nice... could be worth a shot.

I don't think he'll be there at 6 but, you know, it'd be good to make the most of the tickets.

You're right, trams seem to start around 4:30 but I don't think any go near the forum so we'd have to change to a bus or train somewhere along the way anyway.

I think we'll just have to live with missing the first part of practices.

How did the word get out about CoR last time? Who should we prod to start the ball rolling?

To be honest, I'm sort of dreading the hours and hours of competition... Isn't each men's event about 3-4 hours long? Plus practice, that's 7-8 hours (since I guess there might be a break, too). I think I'll need breaks, so I'll probably skip some of the guys anyway... But I'm sure by the time it comes there'll be many guys I'll want to see anyway lol So my plan might not work very well anyway. lol

And I have no idea about CoR... but I guess we could simply start by writing to the email addresses on the official page and asking about gala tickets, maybe adding that it's probably going to be the most fun, when skaters can relax and have fun with each other and it would be great to give fans the chance to see how those great gala moments are put together and see the skaters in a more relaxed environment, interacting and just enjoying skating :P Or something like that.

I'm pretty sure that if schedule will be like Helsinki then Yuzu will be in last practice groups on Thursday.

I made a break during SP and went for a walk otherwise it would be too hard to sit trough all comp on Thursday. FS goes faster cuz there's less number of groups.

Thanks for the tip! The only competition I sat through so far was the Free Dance at NHK and even there I was getting antsy, with just two groups. (Admittedly, not understanding scoring very much didn't help, but Moir and Virtue kind of made up for it. I'm still surprised at how much I liked them ^_^; )

Well, on Thursday I sat through two men's practice groups in the morning, a part of pairs practice, men's SP (skipping 2 groups for a walk) and pairs FS later. Also at CoR I was at arena from morning till late evening with a break for a hotel bar at Aerostar  If there's a shopping center nearby - that's great, you can always go there for food cuz at the arena it's usually more expensive and more people around (I remember how I met Patrick several times accidentally in Barcelona on the way to shopping center ). In Helsinki there wasn't anything like that nearby but there were comfortable chairs in the arena, that's not the case with Milano...

Ouch... I'm really glad I only got Men's events lol I'm sure we'll manage the whole thing, but I think I'll draw upon my festival experience two years ago... three days of leaving my hotel at 6am and getting back around 1am, with only food and drinks at the venue (plus whatever I'd bought on my way there) and no seating except the ground or the floor inside the venue... Uncomfortable chairs should technically be better than no seats... technically... (I think I'll bring a chair pillow along, though, just to be safe >_>) I'm really excited and nervous at the same time!

(I also wonder if Poohs thrown from higher above might land in my area instead of the ice... I could work as a Pooh forwarder, though LOL)

No it didn’t work :13877886:

At CoR I was basically in the arena from the first practices to the last event every day. It was doable guys! I just skipped ice dance practices and events sometimes bc they were always after mens and I was usually rather excited after seeing Yuzu but I never really left the venue... LOL

I don’t remember what I ate back then...

Did I remember wrong? There weren’t any open practices at all until people begged, right? Sucks about the gala. :13877886: Still worth a shot. I definitely need it to live. I need maximum swan.

The only thing regretful about this trip is that I'm only able to make it for FS and not SP and Gala because I already booked a flight somewhere else so... :tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid:

At least I can join in stressful nerve-racking SEIMEI :13877886:

I thought you were referring to gala practices only and we didn’t get in there even though everyone was pretty desperate  :13877886:

But yeah we can give it a shot. Gala practice would be so much fun to watch

I would love to watch the practices but $22 is ridiculous .

Ridiculous why? You get a full day (pretty much non-stop from 6 am to 10 pm) of World-class figure skating. I actually know people who only go competitions for the practices because they get more for their money, and I honestly cannot disagree with them. Monday a lot of skaters aren’t there yet, but Tuesday? Really good deal. Never mind the fact you can sit really close to the ice.

Hmm...good point. I guess I'm still new to the world of figure skating and I'm more looking forward to the actual competitions. But perhaps, after I get to watch the awesome skaters skate live, I might truly appreciate just watching them skate without the competitive atmosphere.  And I just realized I can't go to the full-day practices even if I want to because I'll only be in Milan on Mar 23...
