Where did you book the place? Assago is fairly away from Milan, so it would be a bit of a journey to go from there and back every day.

Also, more than Italian, you should learn some milanese  catchphrases like 'figa, oh' or 'Tac' and you're cool for the whole duration of your stay xDDD Actually, Max's Italian is northern accent, so you'd be cool with listening to his Italian and try to replicate the prosody

Citta Studi. What a happening place, right? I hear they have a hospital there! It seems it's 30min train ride with no transfers which is okay by me. I was limited to the no prepayment/free cancellation places so it's the best I can do until I become stinking rich.

What are these words you are teaching me? >_>

I feel guilty that it's a Japanese skater and not my Italian relatives that's pushing me to learn Italian after all these years. The only Italian I know is a song about needing to go to the toilet and another song, a family original, about buying agnolotti.

What? You mean you haven't learned Notte Stellata yet?! Son, I am disappoint!

And of course I'm teaching you the most useful stuff... :peekapooh:

I've been watching Yuzu programmes with Italian commentary! Killing 2 birds with one stone!

What do 'figa, oh' and 'Tac' mean?

basically, they are exclamations. I don't know how much +PG-13 I can go... spoiler.

Spoiler

Well, in Rome we use a cuss word for 'dick' as an exclamation in sentences (cazzo). But in Milan, they use a cuss word for 'vagina' (figa). So it sounds very weird to us and we make fun of it.

Tac is innocent though. Tac just means like 'voilà', or 'there'.

Google translate doesn't understand the necessary rituals of social interaction required in Italy!

(tbh I don't even like il Volo... oh yeah, thanks for reminding me I wanted to do a Yuzuru swan video with the original swan from Saint-saens! Gotta keep myself busy, lest I start studying for university!)

I never thought I would ever want to learn Italian, but the power of the evil lord Yuzu cannot be underestimated! :darklordyuzu:

Grazie. Angolotti. :mushroom8:

I am getting a bit worried here.. Is English not enough to get around in Milan? I don't know a single Italian word and my language acquisition skills are very lacking so there is no way for me to learn anything useful in time :smiley-confused001:

Oh no, don't worry. Italians speak English very badly, but they try. Also, students speak it quite nicely, so you can get by.

Thanks, that is good to know

Being alone in foreign country without the ability to communicate is very scary, especially with my tendency to get lost all the time :tumblr_inline_n18qr5AMus1qid2nw:

I learned Italian as a kid watching Sailor Moon on Italian TV channels (before it made it to ours). Somehow I feel I've come full circle...:war:

(Needless to say I only remember enough to generally get by and understand others. If I try speaking it'll probably come out as a FrenSpanish mix, with sprinkles of English and Japanese, because why not... When I was in Rome a few years ago, I got used to minimal speaking after a few days... but then I had to go home :P )
