2018 Worlds - Milano (Tickets)

Featured Replies

Luckily I don't  have the language problem because I'm from the part of Switzerland that speaks Italian (although "figa, oh" is new to me)... But it'll be my first comp and also the first time me and my best friend go alone somewhere, so I'm a bit worried too.

BUT I HAVE MY TICKETS I HAVE MY TICKETS TOO, IT'S REAL, YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU:smiley-happy085::smiley-happy085: :PurpleBanana::PurpleBanana:

Guys, tomorrow I'm gonna buy 2 tickets for the men free skate. Suggestions for the best seats? I need to choose between the seats circled on the image in the link below.

It's my first time so I'm kinda indecisive

:thanks:

Hi and welcome to the Planet!

I'd probably buy a bronze 1 ticket in section C20 or C21, because it's better to sit in the middle than in the corner of the arena. The +16€ difference is a bit too much, because tickets in both bronze 1 and 2 are basically in the same row, but it'd probably buy the more expensive one anyway.

Which one is better in your pinion: C6 or C20?

Thank you for your welcome!

Oh I haven't noticed that there are available seats on the judges side. That's better than the other side, so I'd go for C6.

Ok.. for the men short I think I'm gonna get a gold ticket.

I don't know what is the best: B14 row 4, B18 row 4 or B19 row 10.

Sorry If I'm bothering you.

I am getting a bit worried here.. Is English not enough to get around in Milan? I don't know a single Italian word and my language acquisition skills are very lacking so there is no way for me to learn anything useful in time :smiley-confused001:

I doubt Milan will be more difficult to get by with English than Moscow and we managed Moscow somehow (where people don’t even seem to understand very basic English) so you‘ll be fine! Worst part was not being able to even read cyrillic and having to stand there in the middle of the subway station comparing the letters on the signs and the subway app

Keep google translate ready at all times and you’ll be fine. If it comes to it you just type whatever there and show the Italian person your phone

That is a good idea, thank you

A question: how can I get internet access to my phone? do I need to buy a sim card? roaming charges will kill my budget if I use it for internet abroad

I haven't started looking into it properly yet but this wiki seems to have very detailed info:

More of a general travel question but does anyone have any tips to prepare for/avoid/deal with jetlag? I haven't been more than a couple of hours outside this timezone since I was a toddler so I have no idea what to expect. How long should I allow myself to adjust?

Thank you for the link :thanks:

I also found that I can roam in Italy for discounted prices because of the Feel At Home in Europe thing (not sure what to call it). It seems I can use my UK sim card in 60 other countries without paying extra charges, which is great news :tumblr_inline_ncmif5EcBB1rpglid:

The way I try to deal with jet lag is to force myself into the new time zone the moment I enter the plane. So if it's not time to sleep in Italy, I'll do my best to stay awake even if I'm sleepy. The reverse is also true.

And I will force myself not to take naps until bedtime after I've arrived at my destination. I've dozed off while eating dinner once with the fork and knife still in my hand, though that was a 12 hr difference. =P

Usually the first day is the worst, but it'll get better faster if you're strict about it. But I think it also depends on the individual. I have friends who only experience jet lag one way, i.e. they didnt have jet lag when they arrived, but did when they returned.

I think there are also some medication that can help with jet lag.

Everyone traveling so far for Yuzu, I bow before you. Jet lags are horrible

I'm 10 hours ahead. :tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid: My flight will be around 24hrs plus however long check-in and customs takes. I hope I'm like your friends, though Googling tells me the reason may be the direction of travel. Apparently, travelling east makes it easier for your body to adjust. Of course, I'll be travelling west.

Do you think if I stayed from the 19th I'd be okay by the short program?

I wonder how those ridiculously early morning practices will play into all of this.

Horrible as in just super sleepy... right?  You're scaring me... :13877886: Perhaps I should have gone through lottery hell one more time for Nationals (or become instantly wealthy for Olympics.) I'm starting to think pursuing nama-Yuzu might be just a liiiittle bit crazy. Maybe NHK was a sign from the universe to give up rather than go double or nothing... but he's that good live that this is worth it, right? I'm not being insane? Honest, unbiased, non-fanyu opinions needed! ( I'm asking in the wrong place.)

Oh wow, that sounds super exhausting :jaw:

The things he makes people do... :13877886:
