Having had a discussion with people who speak Japanese on Twitter about it just now, it seems to be a slight misunderstanding. The Japanese article mentions the NBC article where Brian says something along the lines that he would prefer/recommend for him to do SCI if he was able to come back to Canada. And the same NBC article also states that NHK remains a possibility. So the new article isn't wrong but a bit misleading perhaps. Basically, nothing new. Let's wait and see.
