  1. I was watching competitions from the late 1990s when I found this costume. What the heck was Alexander Abt wearing? (x, gettyimages)
  2. The change foot combination spin got level 3 at the Olympics - that cost him around half a point, and at the Olympics he got lower GOE for every element except for the 3A (+3 GOE at both events) and the step sequence. His PCS was also lower at the Olympics by 0.05. I think except for the 4T-3T he could have got higher GOE and also higher components, but he skated as the first skater in the last group which might have affected his scores (just like it did in Helsinki). But what matters is that their plan worked very well and Yuzu won the gold medal.
  3. The base value of the 4A< was a typo https://www.isu.org/docman-documents-links/isu-files/documents-communications/isu-communications/17142-isu-communication-2168/file
  4. She said that she picked three different costumes because it's been a while since she last skated...so it was basically a gift to her fans She's so nice. Happy news Congratulations! It confirms the rumours then why she wasn't at CiONTU.
  5. I moved your post here from the General chat Probably they changed the time and date of the broadcast. Can you help to tell if the exact time of the broadcast is from midnight until 03.00 AM? Google translate says it's 3 PM but the translation may be wrong.
  6. I enjoy her skating even without the jumps, it's so beautiful and effortless. I will catch up with today's fancams later but can I just say how gorgeous all these costumes look on her? She never wore a white/pinkish, olive green or amaranth costume in her competitive career, these are all new colours and they look so good. And is really unusual to see her skate without the boots covered. She always used to skate like that.
  7. I added the broadcast for Kobe: About Kanazawa, according to this tweet, it's on 3rd June. I'm not sure now which one is the correct. ETA: On TV Asahi's website it also says 3 June so the date seems to be correct now. http://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/ch/contents/sports/0294/
  8. until
[This is a broadcast by BS Asahi. The discussion can be found here]
  9. That's a great picture of Plushy and he really looks like Totti, especially the eyes/forehead.
  10. I just hope if the Averbukh choreography won't work out for Aliev, then he can change his program in time: 1. for an another new program, or 2. he goes back to this season's FS (but the chance for this is close to 0, because it very rarely happens that a skater keeps their Olympic programs for the season after it...)
  11. A separate thread for it would be nice and very useful!
  12. Thank you for the confirmation. I google translated the whole article when I saw Averbukh's name... I'm happy for TAT, but I don't know what to say about Averbukh. I liked Dima's programs from last season, especially his free skate which was beautiful and well choreographed. Maybe he wanted to have a bit of change and try something new for his free skate.
  13. If I understand it correcty, Averbukh will be the choreographer for Aliev's free skate, the music will be selected by Tarasova. Glinka and Molotov choreograph the short program.
  14. Finally I had a bit of time to listen to the podcast I find it a really good idea to discuss and share updates/news/thoughts about anything related to figure skating. I liked it a lot and I'm looking forward for the next episodes.
  15. Rafael was born in the Soviet Union and lived most of his life there - he was born in Tbilisi, studied in Yerevan and then lived in Moscow before he moved to the US in 2000. He said that in Russia he was working only with Russian skaters, and because everyone spoke Russian in the Soviet Union, I think it may be his first language. (I can't tell by his accent because I don't speak the language.)
  16. Great thread! Marie-France Dubreuil comes to my mind who is a World silver medalist and 4CC champion herself and she trained Tessa/Scott and currently trains Papadakis/Cizeron, amongst other successful ice dancers. Ingo Steuer also won world medals and an Olympic bronze medal and he trained Aliona and Robin. Does Peter Oppegard count? He is a World-, and Olympic medalist and trained Yuna, even though their partnership lasted only a season (and in that season Yuna went only to one competition, where she won the silver medal). I'm sure there are many more other successful athletes who also became succesful coaches, I wish I knew more about the history of figure skating a bit more.
