  1. CONGRATULATIONS YUZU!!! OMG can hardly believe it, sooooo happy for him
  2. Hi guys, I have excellent all event tickets BUT i cant go. I was going to offer to sell or give them away, but i ended up with a physical ticket instead of electronic so I can't transfer it to anyone. I hate to see empty seats up close (3rd row tickets) so I was going to offer to share my seat assignments with someone who has tickets so they can have better seats. I'm in section 204, message me if interested
  3. I've been saying for years, dreading the day he will no longer be in competition, "If only he could live stream his practices from time to time, we don't need to see him compete, we just need to see him SKATE!!" Obviously he KNOWS how much we want that, and for him to deliver it SO QUICKLY!!! I've seen him compete 10 times, Skate Canada 2019 and Helsinki 2017 will always be among my most treasured memories, and half the reason I was there was to see him PRACTICE! What fan service that was! What a treasure he is!!! I just can't STOP with the exclamation points!!!
  4. Its so wonderful to hear that everyone really appreciates the Video archives (DONT MISS the Yonkaiten Pixel folder!), they are literally an unreplaceable TREASURE And also the 'safe space' and warm feelings you get from the chats. I've lurked in General Chat almost daily for years, its true that there is very very little 'drama' or fighting going on, makes me proud to be a Fanyu and to know that Yuzu would be (IS???) proud of us as well!
  5. When did you become a fan of Yuzu? Worlds at Nice 2012, R&J1 FTW!!! When and why did you sign up for Planet Hanyu? I was here from the beginning, when all h3ll broke loose over on that FanFest That Shall Not Be Named! Did you make any irl friends through Planet Hanyu? no Have you participated in any group projects on Planet Hanyu? yes Did you attend any meetups with other satellites at competitions? yes! So thrilled to meet Yonkaiten Pixel in Montpellier last month!! What do you like the most about this forum? so terrific we can come here any day or night to talk to other fans. Plus the video archives!! Would you like to participate in the giveaway? yes please :-)
  6. Actually, in the past, he has Not taken a new SP to the Olympics! 2014 Olys was Parisienne Walkway's 2nd season and at 2018 Olys it was Chopin's THIRD season! I honestly feel pretty sure he is keeping LMEY for next year, if only because it never had an outing with a proper audience. It's been SO WELL received by fans, even a pretty high PCS score for a brand new program. It pairs perfectly with TenChi, so as a backup prediction I'll say I think he'll do something 'cool and fun' like LMEY or PW or LGC if he doesn't keep LMEY. The brilliant success of the Blinding Lights videos makes me wonder- could this all be in his calculations?? He would have known about (if not orchestrated) the slow motion footage of himself being broadcast during SOI. He might have guessed one of his very talented fans might put together a bunch of those shots into a MAD, which would allow him to easily review his performance FROM ALL ANGLES AND IN HIGH-DEF to find the things that he wants to use in LMEY next year! It would explain why he specifically used his LMEY costume, as it would give a good visual representation of his overall look. (If he DOES follow his normal pattern, there will be a NEW LMEY costume next year, even if only tweaked, a la the 4, 5 or 6 versions of Chopin we've seen.) He may NOT have guessed that there would be hundreds of thousands of views of JUST HIS segment of the Blinding Lights program, going 11 to 18 minutes in length!! But that brings me to my next thought about this wonderful self-perpetuating loop Yuzu and his Fanyus have going. This is another very talented MAD creator, and their channel shows how Yuzu may very well be able to take the 'pulse' of what gets his fans excited. Not only by seeing which videos have the highest view counts, but also he can see what the video uploaders CHOOSE to include or highlight in their videos. In the absence of an audience that can PROPERLY react to his performance, I wouldn't be at all surprised that he is able to use the feedback of the most popular videos to get a clear picture of what we would have been SSWWOOOOONING over if only we could have been there in person. When he has said in interviews (something like) that the pressure he feels from fan's expectations can sometimes feel like he's being 'coerced' into something, but also that the pressure gives him energy and strength. I tried to feel bad (maybe for a millisecond) about contributing to those expectations, as if maybe we could somehow STOP wanting to see him skate, so he can r***** and live a normal life. But I think I'd rather contribute to this feedback loop that is making him better and better, year after year!
  7. @WyellWHERE IS THE 18 MINUTE BLINDING LIGHTS VIDEO? Thankfully good ol' 11 minute is there, but I'm gonna need the big one too... hopefully just some maintenance issue??
  8. 103,000 views and going strong! I am lost in the world of Blinding Lights!
  9. Well, hell! The first one is over 173K views, now I've got to apply the same diligence to this new one so it can overtake on the view count, yet its going to take soooo much longer... Oh! The horrors! ;-) This takes me back to the Yuzu 'planned' edit after his FS in Pyeongchang, when he knelt on the ice and put his hand down, confessing during Continues With Wings that he had the thought in that moment that maybe a fan would make an edit of that image with the Sochi image with his hand down... WHICH, had ALREADY been done when he spoke of it. I wonder if he expected @Wyell to come along and create these Blinding Lights videos?? HE KNOWS EVERYTHING!!!
  10. Happy Birthday Planet! Who could have thought it would become what it is, with countless threads discussing all aspects of Yuzu, other skaters, and any other interests Fanyus may have! And the VIDEOS being compiled, especially Yonkaiten Pixels, what a treasure! If I ever had a chance to ask Yuzuru a question, I would ask when (haha, I don't think it's 'IF') did he find out about Planet Hanyu and what is his impressions of it? I remember seeing that beautiful Planet Hanyu banner, directly behind where Brian and Ghislain (I think) were standing at the boards during a practice session, where Yuzu could not possibly have missed it :-)
  11. I just have to ask @Wyell about this video Sooooo, did you think that almost 11 minutes was too long to show the same footage over and over again? Because you would have been WRONG, nothing could ever make this too long! As I'm watching it (I don't know, somewhere between a dozen and 2 dozen times by now) I'll get to a point where, "Oh, I've seen enough... wait! This part is really good.... oh, this part too, my favorite... no, THIS is the BEST angle of that choreo move..." KUDOS, this is just Brilliant! And I noticed Yonkaiten Pixel has its own folder here on the Planet
  12. I just have to chime in on the LMEY discourse, with or without proper arse shaking... I've always been a BIG fan of his fun, upbeat programs- PW, LGC, Masquarade and now LMEY, and they just keep getting better and better. I think LMEY is the perfect vehicle for an Olympic short program, for Yuzuru. He got excellent international media coverage for it at Worlds. If it goes well at WTT it will contribute to it being well received next season. And so far it's being THIS well received (and well skated) without the benefit of a proper ROARING audience! I predict he's keeping both programs for next year, but if not LMEY it will be something 'similar', and not a more lyrical piece like Chopin or Otonal. LMEY and Ten to Chi to are well balanced, like yin/yang balance that each of his season's programs always have. He clearly knows the POWER he has over his fans with these programs like Masquarade and LMEY, he showed it with his PW at SC19 gala. He will capture the hearts of the Olympic viewing audience with LMEY and turn the narrative to his favor as much as possible. LMEY scored nearly 48 PCS IN ITS 1ST INTERNATIONAL SHOWING, no one can say the judges didn't appreciate it!!! (JW's commentary missed the mark in that regard I think)
  13. During this past seemingly ENDLESS period of IHYS I've been watering myself by watching his programs from Skate Canada 2019 quite a bit, and also the 2020 4CC programs. Since his Nationals performance I've been watching LMEY and H&E exclusively, they are such MASTERPIECES! But then when I went back to SCI performances it was suddenly clear HOW MUCH his jump technique has improved since SCI, and I thought it was pretty darn good back then! It's really quite shocking that he got so much better, with no direct coaching and all the stresses going along with the pandemic. Maybe part of it is attributable to lack of early season competitions, so he is so much more rested and healed than normal for this time of year. I also thought it was absolutely amazing that he didn't seem winded AT ALL after the FS, again partly due to being in very good condition presumably, but also maybe the way he structured the program it doesn't use as much energy as Origin did? I don't know how that can be the case, maybe someone else can explain it? I'm really really excited to see him continue to bring these programs to competition next season (presumably for the Olympics) to see how he continues to improve on perfection!
  14. I have to admit, I have very high expectations of Yuzu's performances, like a lot of us do- because he soooooooooo reliably delivers. And he's never disappointed me, even when it's not his best skate, even when he comes in second. Because he always puts his EVERYTHING into the performance. After 10 months training alone, new programs, total lack of support resources, inadequate rink time (presumably), what could we expect this time? Well, he gave us 2 of the MOST MARVELOUS PERFORMANCES ever seen!!! The artistry, the dichotomy, the SOLID technique! I died when I heard him say that, of course in competition you're never sure you can perform to your capabilities but that MOST of his run throughs in training have been like that (perfection)!!! I was instantly smitten by LMEY, I've been dying to see him do something HOT since Masquarade. I can watch this one ten million times, it is so fun! Heaven & Earth is clearly a masterpiece, and something that he'll be able to polish to a brilliant diamond in time for Beijing (if we're fortunate enough to see him there). I confess, it maybe took me a few hours to fall in love with it, but I mostly blame my sleep deprived state, being a midwesterner insanely trying to follow Japanese figure skating live LOL. But once I was able to focus on the flow of his performance, I began to understand his pacing and the overall picture he was painting. At first, I could see the individual brilliant parts but not how they all worked together. And I do think I'm a bit hampered by my "western" view of music and structure, but I wouldn't want to be a person who can't learn to enjoy other cultures. It feels its a little like the difference between reading a non-fiction book versus poetry. I read novels almost daily, it's easy for me. To read poetry, I have to concentrate and put some effort into understanding it. But when it's GOOD, there is a big reward for the 'effort'. Yuzu is poetry to me. He has once again surpassed himself in the most extraordinary way. He brings such depth and meaning to his artistry. What did we ever do to deserve this magical being in our lives?? Honestly, I feel like my brain has severely overloaded with the ecstasy of what he has accomplished. THANK YOU YUZURU, we can never repay you, but we will never stop loving you and supporting you!
  15. Here is my message (hope this works) https://imgur.com/gallery/vDQCfUo
  16. so, is it just me, or is anyone else compulsively rewatching Yuzu's appearance on the I$U Aw@rds video daily??? I just cannot get over how WONDERFUL his English is! I know he had prepared his answers and undoubtedly rehearsed (something we don't get during a post-comp press conference), but still the phrases he uses and the 'tonality'(? I'm no linguist)- you can tell he understands and is emulating how English speaking people talk. My favorite parts (during Costume nominee segment) is talking about 'Figure skating LOVERS' (its so cute how he says lovers lol) and when he talks about himself in the 3rd person, 'it has to be Yuzuru...', with that little 'smirk' (he's laughing at himself and how serious he is lol) He's showing us a new persona, but I can't quite identify what it is, 'professional media rep'? Or 'future spokesman for the I$U'? Plus: 'Let me correct you...' Is he saying the award of Most Valuable Skater is 'invalid' because you can't compete with just one skater? It seems like he was expecting a slightly different question/statement when he responded... but still its entirely ADORABLE
  17. Impossible! (he has alien skin, after all) I've never put much effort into skincare (blessed genetically with youthful skin) but the products ARE very good and my skin has never felt better when I do us them. I spent maybe $100 around a year ago and I am nowhere near to using them up...
  18. I've been so spoiled these past few years, going to competitions once or twice a year to see Yuzu skate. It feels so strange now in July to not have ANY tickets in hand for the coming Fall season, and to have no idea when or where we might see Yuzu skate again. Maybe Christmas at Japanese nationals? It will be hard to wait, but for sure HE is worth waiting for. In so many ways, this loooooonngg break might be incredibly good for him. He is so self motivated, I don't think he needs the impetus of an upcoming competition to stay focused. But now he has the time to work on that 4A and new programs at the pace he wants. No international travel to wear him out. Plushenko's advice to him after pyeongchang (I think) was that Yuzu can certainly keep competing for TWO MORE Olympic cycles, especially if he does limited # of competitions during the season, like skipping the Grand Prix. I am INCREDIBLY excited to see what he comes up with whenever he returns to competition!!!
  19. Good point...but I do think Yuzu will be in Canada before then (are there int'l judges at Challengers?), and it is typically 'local' skaters that attend. I think by end of July the coronavirus situation will change alot, I believe for the better. For all we hear (in the US) about rising numbers of cases, the fatalities are NOT trending upwards to match. Every week they are going down, even the places that didn't have much infection since March don't seem to be 'catching up' to disaster areas like NY City. The area I live in is fairly rural and so far I don't know anyone (or even know someone who knows someone) who has had even a positive covid test, let alone been seriously ill. Keeping fingers crossed for the future but trying not to get my hopes up too much!
  20. Maybe, but if they don't I'll betcha Canadians can sell it out (if Yuzu is there) without any international help. (and I'll start building an underground tunnel now, from the US, I'll let ya all know where it is )
  21. Yes, it could always be cancelled before then, but so far I think everything that has hit that 3 month advance date has been cancelled (JGP, specifically) so I think its interesting it did NOT get announced as cancelled on 6/17
  22. Sooooooo, less than 3 months until Autumn Classic (Sept 17th), no cancellation notice.... Is it on?? Would be sad if no spectators, but better than cancelling! I wonder how long till we hear for sure??????
  23. Proudly introducing, my son (in Animal Crossings), Seimei Thomas! He plays the game, I don't, but I told him about the costumes in the game and he figured out how to acquire it. He actually likes figure skating and is (so far) the only family member I have managed to bring to a Yuzu competition with me (ACI 2019). That was the first he's ever attended in person. He's a big Nathan fan but I still love him
