Some of us are actually having a great time here. It does sorta help not looking at the results, though... ;-)

I absolutely enjoyed watching this event (up until boyangs wtf score lol) it was amazing to see in person and if I could I’d love to go to all of the events regardless of judging and whatnot just because of the performances and the atmosphere but I am salty as all heck about the scoring of some of the men  :salty:

I'm not on Kolyad's train, but I think he's the likeliest to pull an upset because of his quality when he's on and his fed and I'm all for it.

I agree. I'm glad to see him remove the 4Lz from his sp. When he's not pushing for technical difficulty at the expense of artistry, he's pretty nice to watch.

[Admin edit: Please don't bash anyone and don't wish for skaters to make mistakes.]

I hope at Beijing 2022, Boyang will be scored rightly and rank above the jumping beans. Boyang for OGM 2022!

I just came home, saw the results and my only reaction is this. Just as in the GPF

wtf_skating_doodles

Shoma saying "he doesn't feel pain" gives me vibes of Olympic Yuzu and Brian saying "he doesn't feel pain"...because he was on painkillers:13877886:  (and then we also found out it wasn't even true that he wasn't feeling pain... Shoma really likes to follow his senpai :sadPooh::sadPooh: I just hope not to see him have a total meltdown and cry live, please:sadPooh: hold on just a little more, Shoma!

When I write my previous post I knew I forgot about someone :headdesk2:

I liked Kazuki Tomono too! He was skating to the same Zig something that was Yuzu's senior debut FP, right? Even the ending pose was similar

My gosh! WtH happened? I was working adn couldn't watch and to see Shoma with that score ? And Vincent with that score? and Mikhail and Boyang with those scores? I expected Nathan with that score, however...

I am pulling for an upset here too.

Oh fuck.

Yuzu, Yuzu, Yuzu. Come back. Come back. Come BACK!

When I read this I pictured Rose in Titanic on the floating door or whatever it was and quietly saying " come back..., come back" to the would be rescuers in the little boat and then blowing that whistle really hard... and i want to blow that damn whistle hard  " COME BACK, YUZU!!!!!"

NOOO so he is really injured after all... I knew something was off. It was so weird to see him set up the 3Salchow. No wonder he actually got the combination wrong.

And, what, from inside the arena, I couldn't understand Boyang's score at all. Judging from what I've read here, they judged his toeloop underrotated or something? All his jumps were huge, and his landings were far better than Nathan's landings.

And don't make me start on Vincent's score.

It was amazing to see them though. Also, last group all went almost clean!!

I am pulling for an upset here too. Sorry, nathan, but I want someone else to win here!!

For me it doesn’t matter who wins here in Milan as long as it’s a fair fight and fair judging!!

Already gone ^^ Boyang's Toeloop called UR and GOE -2, Nathan's Flip NOT called, Vincent's jumps NOT called

Watching the event from the arena was awesome!! Not too many people bombed and most of the top guys did great (Shoma tho :13877886:). I feel blessed having seen Boyang live. The difference between him and Nathan really stands out even more than on TV, IMO (and Nathan getting higher pcs is a joke).

Also about Nathan's score, I don't get the goe he got for the stsq at all. Maybe that's because that's the only part of his program where some of the choreo still survived? But I guess it's a rather small issue compared to all the stuff going on with scoring :slinkaway:

And interesting insight for me is from my mom, who has basically no knowledge of FS and doesn't know much about technical: when I asked her who she liked (performance and interpretation-wise), she said Shoma and Boyang were her favorite and Kolyada was good as well. She said Vincent stood out to her, but got out-done by the last group. She also said Nathan was very unmemorable and all she remembers about him is the weird costume

Overall thoughts are: good event, terrible judging, Boyang majorly robbed. It's gonna be tough stanning him in the future, isn't it :13877886:

I was at work and periodically checked scores when I was able to get to the office and when I saw Vincent's score, I knew right away that judging was going to be interesting.... and since it was painfully obvious in the ladies competition that URs weren't being called correctly, I wasn't surprised to see it here (yes, I know all panels are different, lol).

It hardly ever is for everyone.

Oh and follow-up: hardest decision ever is deciding whether to watch Deniss or Stephane, cause him by the boards is a whole another performance  And seriously, we need a coach cam for Brian and Stephane both, I'd pay to see that
