[2018] World Championships Men Short Program

Maybe it's because I stopped watching this GP season once Yuzuru was out, but I REALLY don't understand the love for Kolyada. I don't think he's a 9.0+ PCS skater at all and his jumps are scary unstable to be getting that kind of GOE all the time.

Mika has a beautiful ss, he is smooth and fast and his programs have the most transitions among top 6-7 after Yuzu and iic Javi (and more tan Patrick) and when he is on he is very good, and he has usually short set up for jumps and very high jumps (that make him lose control). The 4Lz he landed a while ago (CoC or COR?) was beautiful. His jumps don't hit all the bullets for +3, but they hit some, like those for size of jumps, effortless and so on, his technique is also good, so when he lands his stuff he definitely deserves good goe (I try not to think in comparison to Yuzu, becasue tbh only a few jumps would deserve high goe in comparison...). Mika is not my fave but I fing his skating quite soothing to watch and in this particular field he was better than most too, despite the mistake...

ETA: it's sad that the actual system doesn't do Yuzuru enough justice, but the way it will change (to reward "quality" more) doesn't guarantee it will, either :sad4:

Shoma's stsq change from level 3 to 4 with a stumble is lol

Oh gosh, I had missed that gem

This is why it's so hard for me to root for those undeserving skaters. Nothing against them personally, actually. Just that whenever they get what they don't deserve, my brain refuses to let me be in favour of them. They can have the score, they will never have either my respect nor my affection.

I think Boyang still has chance. 6 points in men's event means nothing, remember the last 2 WCs. But I have a feeling they will do everything to rob him even when he goes clean. Prediction :  Boyang win LP but 1 pts behind Nathan overall :13877886:I pray Boyang will pull a Yuzuru WC17

As for Shoma, if they take out both 4F and 4Lo, his content will be lower than his senior debut because I dont think he will do the lutz. He has a chance of medal, but he need to skate clean and need some help from others.

Kolyada is too wild to predict. Vincent will medal if he stays on his feet even if he UR all his jumps (likely happen tho)

I can't believe I'm this mad about a men's event that Yuzuru's not even there lol

Same. Except I sort of do dislike Vincent. I'm still salty about that Instagram post from Nationals where he basically said he knew he'd rotated his jumps. Can't root for someone who doesn't admit they have room for improvement.

I'm rooting for Vincent because they should have the champion they deserve. By they I mean ISU, feds and judges. And tech panels. They should have him.

But you're right about Shoma. If he has only the 4T, his BV is very low. Two 3As, two 4Ts, and then what?!

You know, I hope Vincent wins it.

That's what they deserve, the ISU and the feds and everybody. They deserve to have a world champion who has UR jumps and has not developed even a quarter of the artistry he could. Sell that, ISU.

Oh no I hope not. I don’t want that kid on the podium at all.

Spoiler

I really really dislike him not just his skating.

Eww, I didn't know that. I'd just chalked it up to him being a deluded child.

I really dislike ISU, too. They deserve each other then.

Watch his PCS and random GOEs saved him anyway. :3:

But let's nof count our eggs(?) before the competition. (who am I kidding, I'll still do that anyway)

They deserve but we don't need it. Please for the love of god, Boyang and Kolyada :hopelessness:

As for Shoma, 2 2A I think. Idk, he has to fight real hard today and the LP is another beast. I just hope his right foot doesn't get worse after this.

You know who was robbed on PCS? Keegan.

You know who else? Deniss V. And Misha Ge had only higher PCS than Vincent Zhou out of the top 3.

Let's just throw eggs at judges instead. +3 GOE for rotten ones on target.

I know, but I was looking at the scores and realised Keegan could've been in with a chance of at least bronze with proper scoring. It's a huge opportunity that's been taken from him because of dodgy judging.
