Yeah, that one too. But Nathan had an uncharacteristically dismal SP at the Olympics, which I don't think he will repeat at Worlds. I'm not sure his 6-quad FS will repeat at Worlds either, though.

I sure hope Chen would not bomb the SP quite like he did at the Olympics. As for the 6-quad FS (only 5 clean), yeah, I don't think he would be able to repeat that again, given how he deals, or doesn't deal more like, with the nerves.

It's better if Chen goes with 5 quad layout. For him it's just stablity and consistency on his landings. He's got enough BV, and from Olys, the judges were more than happy to give him decent PCS. IF he goes clean, he could hit 90 (I have to admit that possibility, even though I don't agree with that score).  Boyang is at a PCS disadvantage, so Nathan's real competition is Shoma, but Nathan with 5 quads does have a BV edge due to his Lutz jump.

Now, personally, I liked Nate's quad flip Nationals LP more than his 4Lutz versions. But oh well, boy probably won't change to that.

I don't think he is that bad at dealing with nerves. He's done fine in other situations. Olympic pressure, especially after the US media storm prior hyping him to the nth degree, is an entirely different beast. I think his 6-quad FS at Olympics did give him back the confidence he may have lost with his two poor SP outings and as such I don't think he'll be assailed by nerves at Worlds. At least not as much. I don't expect everyone, including him, to be super clean, though, because these multi-quad programs are HARD and everyone's still recuperating from the Olympics. But I think he'll experience and deal with nerves and expectations better, mostly because Worlds won't have the same pressure via media as the Olympics did.

My favorite outings of Nathan's programs was at US Classic, at the beginning of the season. His programs were so much richer then when he wasn't trying to out-quad everyone else. I miss the FS that could have been because I was really very positively surprised by this program in September but the more quads he added and the more layout changes he did, the sloppier it became. And though Olympics was his cleanest and most BV heavy outing, it was also the less complex and soulful.

I don't know what to make of Nathan's nerves. He did manage to skate reasonably well after Pooh rain at CoR and that is not something the faint-hearted can manage. But he has bombed from pressure, too. Maybe it's the really big stages that get to him, more than who goes before or after him.

Only until July 1st. With the new season, the WS will reset and lose the 2015/2016 season points, as well as only count 2016/2017 at 70%. Thus Yuzu will drop to 3rd, most likely, because sadly he missed a bunch of points in the GP circuit this season.

Technically he might not be first officially but that's only because, as was pointed out, Yuzu missed so much of last season.  However there are other factors that still have him number one.  The first are titles.  He's won four of the last five GPFs.  He's won two of the last five World Championships.  He's won two of the last two Olympics.  He owns the record book and the last time anybody other than himself broke a record he set was in 2013.  Add to that he's the only male skater alive right now who can guarantee the stands will be filled if he's either competing or performing.  Whoever the skater(s) are ranked above him will have their rankings with an asterisk by their names, just as Shoma has asterisks by his two national championships and Nathan an asterisk by his GPF gold.  I'm not saying Yuzu would have won those but his absence certainly puts their victories in a shadow.  One final comment here - Going into the new season Yuzu will still be the one to beat even if he's officially as low as third-ranked.  Yuzu didn't lose that status despite his absence.  Every one of the gold hopefuls at PC were looking at topping Yuzu rather than one of the other hopefuls to win the big one.  Thus the math might oust Yuzu from number one but everything else says he's still the king.

Nathan's nerves:- cumulative US media hype-  an expensive makeover with VW, multi million dollar ad at the Super Bowl,  fawning interviews and articles,  'unbeaten this season' , cameras in your face. etc etc.  And if he's as intelligent as he is supposed to be he must have realised that it could all potentially go wrong if enough people came to PC with their best shot - it did in Helsinki.

BTW, I was deeply impressed by Nathan's FS at the Olympics and how he bounced back from his bad SP. Even though it was devoid of a lot of the choreographic touches in order to go out there and jump his frustration away, I was screaming on twitter about it because way to go, Nathan! But I feel like US Classic (and maybe Rostelecom too) is definitely the best interpretation of the program in competition.

Anyways, this has now veered a bit off topic from the Worlds Championships but I've said before that I want everyone to do well, to have hopefully non-controversial winners in any discipline and that records aren't broken willy-nilly.

Yep, for that erasure, I hope he slays them all, media included.
