I burnt sage before COR and then before NHK. It didn't work, so I burnt sage again, but this time because I wanted the sage to burn.

*shifts over 5 pots of 4 different variets of sage* Maybe you need to try a different variety.

*burns all of them* well, I was going to grow 5 different new species this year.

Should I toss in some rosemary as well?

... Is this an exorcism or a red sauce?! A good Sunday barbecue, maybe. Fits both, depending on what we're barbecuing.

How does rosemary fit into a red sauce?

But lets BBQ the curse of the Olys season. No more bad news anymore I hope.

I accidentally put some fresh rosemary into a quick red sauce once and it was just fine until I told somebody who was eating it what I'd done. :3: But a roast. Roast this season. Roast it good. I hope there are no more injuries or withdrawals. OT, is that dance thing the AmaJin Boyangman has been uploading a thing? It involves quite a bit of jumping in place so hopefully his ankles are fully healed.

I think a lot depends on the circumstances of the individual.  If I had paid E500/1000 for a ticket because I wanted to see Yuzuru, plus several nights accommodation, and a reasonable air fare from within Europe then I would probably go anyway - be disappointed but go.  If I was flying a considerable distance and had limited funds, I would pull out as much money as I could from the trip and bank it for next season in the hope of seeing him somewhere else, saving my money and my holiday time - it's what I would do if I'd booked for a competition in Asia/NA.  Unless he competes in Europe next season I have no chance, and I almost went for tickets for Milan before NHK happened- the prices made me pause and once he was injured I thought it best to wait and see.

Its not just him- a lot of others have WD as well for various reasons.  As someone said earlier in the thread - there are no refunds just because someone isn't skating, but to expect fans to carry on with expensive time consuming travel as some sort of service to the sport is unrealistic and unfair.  The organisers could fill some of those seats if they dropped the prices - which won't happen.

ISU should consider not having WC in Olympic years- competitors are injured/retiring/simply tired from peaking for the Olympics, there are bound to be lots of WD and disappointed fans, and partially empty arenas.

Sorry, I hadn't noticed your comment but I wanted to reply, I don't know if it was unclear, but I would never expect people to come to Milan and spend hundreds and hundreds of euros/dollars/money they can't afford just because they originally bought the ticket. My comment was pissed at those people who, as someone else said, complained about the event not being exciting or not being worth it or being boring because a number of athletes didn't participate.

Imo they should make all tickets refundable, and it's the organisers' fault if, in the end, the Arena is going to be half empty. Because I think that a person living on the other side of the world, buying a ticket months and months before the actual event, has every right to change their minds and renounce their ticket and get their money back.

But what I wanted to say was also that I guess that when you are signing up to work for the event, you want to see things in a different perspective, you want the event to go well and you want people to enjoy it as much as possible and you want to support the athletes and their teams. So, really, when someone comes along and tells you that, because athlete X is not coming anymore, then the event is meaningless, well... you feel a little angry.

Sorry, but no. That is not how organizing major events works, and it never should.

Any big event that doesn’t revolve around the presence of any one person or group (think a pop concert with one lead act) will never refund your tickets if someone has to cancel their appearance; be it due to work commitments (think all those big entertainment conventions with movie and TV stars), injury, illness, “fatigue”, death in the family.

It’s fine if they want to make all the tickets refundable, but the reasons for not coming and getting a refund should be restricted to very good reasons. Someone not showing up due to above-mentioned reasons is never a reason for a ticket refund.

Anyone buying tickets accepts this risk. You cannot blame the organization for empty seats: they sold their tickets and are not stupid enough to buy them back just because a favorite person isn’t coming; they know how hard it would be to resell the tickets again just as well as we do. Why would they take that financial risk? Major events could never financially be organized if that was the way things worked with refundable tickets.

Heck, I suspect (!) Worlds is probably a major cash cow for the ISU, and they need the money from tickets sales to help organize other smaller, less well-attended events. Sponsoring only goes so far.

I completely agree with you on the other thing, though. It’s really bad form to go around saying an event is meaningless because certain people aren’t coming. It’s a World championships. It’s the biggest title these skaters can win after the Olys. Those competing for it will *not* think of it as meaningless!

OMG... Srsly what is this Worlds.

let me scream internally to all that is injured.. "GET REST AND HEAL AND HAVE GOOD FOOD AND REMEMBER WE SUPPORT YOU AND THEN SLAY NEXT SEASON"

:war:

Better for EM to withdraw and recover properly - like Yuzuru and Weijing and all the others.  Understandable to put in that extra push for the Olympics, but WC will happen again next year, and surely we'd all rather see them all back at their best sometime next season ?

I agree that the withdrawals don't make the championships meaningless and it isn't fair to make such comments, but there are people out there who are immature/obsessive/simply bad mannered, and they tend to be unable to self censor.

One of the most disappointing withdrawals of my life was years ago when at the last minute Ashkenazy had to drop out of a concert I had a ticket for.  No disrespect to the pianist who stepped in at the last minute but it wasn't an adequate replacement and that's the sort of situation where refunds should happen ( looking at you RLPO).  WC isn't a one person/pair show and while I stand by what I said above re intercontinental travel etc, I'm sure there will be plenty to enjoy at Milan.

Sigh ... tbh, I was expecting this with all the talk abt her injury, but, damn, this season was so cruel with lots of skaters ... #GetWellSoonZhenya :tumblr_inline_mzx922J8H21r8msi5:

... so is someone replacing her or is too late?

Get well soon, Zhenya!
