That's why I appreciate rare and unusual music choices like Mambekova's FS music or AC/DC

Although when the song in my mother tongue 'showed' up in the ladies even at Euro, I was completely bewildered.

But yes. The point is, there are so many interesting pieces of music out there! Or is the licensing hard?

I am watching the ladies and proof reading my thesis chapter at the same time... My supervisor is going to find some interesting things in this chapter :P

I was surprised when I heard that music at Euros

One skater chose a song with a voiceover (it was a poem!) in my language and when I first heard it at Lombardia I was 100% sure I left a youtube tab open :smiley-laughing021:

It's hard to choose a good piece of music and to choreograph an equally good program to it. Music in fs needs to have some slow and fast parts as well and not every kind of music is easy to skate to. There have always been warhorses in fs because if something worked for some skaters it would probably work for others too.

Also if a skater finds the music which suits his/her style it's hard to choose something completely different. The safer=the easier.

In the first one or two seasons in an Olympic cycle it's easier to experiement with styles, but In the Olympic season it's really risky to choose something unexpected/not really known because the chance that judges may dislike it or just couldn't get into it is higher, and it just affects the PCS which then can affect results at the Olympics.

Soyouns is fabulous - a lot of them don't seem to work from the distance the actual audience is seeing them from - they look insipid or boring when the detail is too fussy/too matched to the colour of the dress -Es is a case in point
