They say credit, but as long as you have the money on it, I don't think they can tell if it's debit or credit. (The only difference appears if you don't have enough money on the debit card, I think).

 

I have debit as well. But I'll keep my dad's credit card nearby, just in case. (I had just one incident with a hotel, where they tried to get part of the money for my stay in advance, and I was out of money, so they sent me a message and once they realized it was debit, they were all like: oh, no, not debit, even if I told them I'd add money to it. We sorted it out in the end, but they had no idea it was debit until then.)

I'm wondering if people who live in Japan could buy the ticket by asking friends who lives overseas

I have VISA debit as well and never had a problem with booking or paying for anything in 10 years.

Most likely. There's no mention of names on tickets, only serial numbers and barcode.

For those who can't read it, what is prohibited is selling but you may give your ticket to someone else. This is regarding Japanese paper tickets, I assume, but again, I doubt there will be names on foreign sales tickets.
