I didn't read in detail, but I think it said you needed to enter the phone number to download...

But yes, it seems there are paper tickets. Paper tickets you actually need to go and have printed at a supermarket (711, lawson etc.), so address doesn't really matter there either... But currently that's crowded, too, so I can't see what info is required

If I win they'll just be mailing it to my hotel, I think. I don't know for sure. It will be expensive but they're working it all out to get rid of extra headaches for me so i think it's definitely worth it.

I think you can put them in order of preference. That's what I requested from JTB and they didn't tell me I couldn't (though they're not the greatest at communicating, in my experience.)

If you can download apps from the Japanese App Store or Google play it might be okay but I think you need a Japanese mobile number to enter. I can't remember. I know paper tickets will be fine without a mobile. JTB just told me to se the address and number of the hotel I've booked. I'll try and find the page that explains the e-ticket software again later. I have a really bad headache from this battle. >_<

Really need to book a hotel before getting the tickets???

That is helpful. The lawson page is swarmed, too, so I can't even take a look at the details, as I keep getting errors. And pia requires signing up and want address and everything already. I think I'll cry myself to sleep a bit, then check my options later...

Oh and from what I've seen on the lawson page, it seems you need to choose which area to apply for. From my experience, they don't charge the money until the lottery results are out, but they do 'reserve' it. So... it might work for JTB as they probably have enough money to apply for all types of tickets, but privately it might be quite tricky...

I booked one with no prepayment and no cancellation fee.

The good thing is JTB haven't asked me for any money or even credit card info. Only if I win will I have to pay the booking fee they've asked for (I think. Again, my local JTB isn't so great with communication.) So it has so far cost me nothing to enter (but it will wipe me out if I win.)

I was actually able to apply for Arena SS tickets for free and gala, on lawson without making an account and with my own phone number. Now I have several problems... one is I'm not sure how many times I can apply, two is a fear that there will be a deadline to picking up tickets from the supermarket and three, I don't know how much they're reserving on my card, to see how much I can afford ^^; (the first I tried just to see if it works)... but it works, so... *fingers crossed*

Last time, I was lucky with the lottery, but I think there weren't that many applicants per number of tickets... this time... if I win, I would have probably used up all my luck for a decade or so...

Oh, wow! That's good to know! Good luck!

ETA. Checked Lawson. You can choose your preferred seating up to 3. It says electronic tickets require a Japanese phone number to use because of something to do with SMS? (Google translating this at this point) but paper looks fine! Click click click!

You can only apply once per ticket, but by using different email address and different phone number, you can apply more than once... (and use the same card and name on the ticket)

(there is something about needing that phone/phone number when picking up the ticket, but...)

It definitely let me select 3 seating preferences per day (though you only get one if you win.) You can select pick up over the counter or delivery as methods of receiving the tickets so hotel address is probably fine.

I think I'll have to use someone else's name, though, because this is probably what JTB have already organised. Okay. ID fraud. No problem. :tumblr_inline_n18qr5AMus1qid2nw:

I was so stupid... yes, you can choose seat order preference, but I only realized it after using up the sign ups on my phone number... I really hope I won't need it, since leaving dad without his phone for two weeks would be... not nice...

The name is ok, it seems. I used mine on all applications. The email and phone number need to be different

Edit:

ok, a few more discoveries:

- you can erase/cancel an application and then do it again

- you can only pick three area options at a time

- they only charge 1yen per area application now

- for some reason, I got a card error after a few of these back and forths... I guess I'll try again later ^_^;

Oh and the phone number text:

当選された場合、店頭にてお支払い・チケットお引き取りの際に必要となります。
上記番号をお控えのうえご来店ください。

(I haven't applied for the first day yet... ^^; all Seimei and gala hopes for me)

For lawson, how do you pick up tickets if you are not in Japan...

Well, the other time I won at a ticket lottery, I had to pick them up at 711, and could do so until the day before the event. So I got them after I arrived in Japan. I didn't see anything about a deadline for picking them up, so I'm hoping it's the same...

(if not, I just remembered there's a classmate from my Japanese class who is studying in Osaka on a scholarship, so I could maybe ask her to pick them up for me... though I've never really spoken to her before ^^; )

I have a question. It seems that you can give your ticket to others if you are not selling ticket for money purpose...but NHK also checks ids... how does this work...

I think it says they may check ID, not that they definitely will... but I'm not sure about that...

that's why it is confusing. also if you are luck to get two tickets, can you only buy one? can you change the name on the ticket?
