Oh was it? I remember seeing Maeda on the judging pool for the men. Well whatever, USA proxies they all are

there's nothing particularly remarkable about her judging history as far as I can tell

she judged Nathan and Shoma at 2018 GPF and was more or less around the panel average for both of them (a tad on the generous side for both)

alas, past performance not necessarily indicative of future results

Argument can be made also that everytime NC won against Yuzu is when Yuzu didn't skate  2 full clean programs. So a win is a win, why must Yuzu wins counts only when everyone else skate clean?

but we're not saying it only counts when they skate clean. at least personally im just saying it is even better if Yuzu were to win that way. the same argument could be made that lots of us are still saying Nathan wouldnt beat a clean Yuzu bc Yuzu mostly the one who screwed up over the last 4 or 5 comps they went head on. it would be more obviously painful if they both went clean and Yuzu still lost..in the same way its more to rejoice vice versa to me

anyway im off everybody its so surreal its olympics already. hoping to hear Yuzu will arrive in a few hours. prayers circle

yeah but you could argue Yuzu only won Sochi because Patrick screwed up, but at the end of the day, he won and that's what people remember. like no way you could get me to trade Yuzu's Sochi gold for clean skates from Yuzu and Patrick and Patrick winning

The thing is, Patrick's on-ice mistakes remained consistent throughout his career ( he'd always die on the 3A then lose his mental focus) so despite Chanflation, it's still hard for people to say that Patrick is objectively better than Yuzu. It's different with Nathan. So while you could argue that Yuzu's Sochi gold is an 'oh, but Patrick messed up' , Patrick was always going to mess it up, so the point is moot.

lol I decided I couldn't watch live because even though Yuzu isn't skating the scoring will probably give me an ulcer. I guess not breaking the Chopin WR means they didn't go totally ham on the GOE, but close to 48 PCS is so inflated. So overall, it doesn't seem to be a worst case scenario for Yuzu wrt to the judging, but also not a great scenario either, which I guess is not entirely unexpected.

Guess we wait on protocols now.

You all are much nicer than me, lol. I know Yuzu's ideal scenario is to win when everyone is clean, but I'll take Nathan screwing up and Yuzu winning over Nathan due to Nathan's mistakes over Nathan being gifted gold.

I'm just the opposite. I made it a point to watch it to prep myself of the scorings that is going to happen for the Men's Singles events. I'm wondering if Yuzu pointing out Rondo having 6 crossovers and the recent transition analysis of the top five men SP of the season by two twitter users have anything to do with judges holding back on gifting him a WR. They will probably reserve WR for his FS, on the strength of his higher BVs (never mind Yuzu's ratified 4A)

Yuzu's ideal win only happens in an ideal fair judging/scoring system. So I will throw it out and just pray for two clean performances with a ratified 4A from him and his dreams come true, upsetting the US narrative.

I am pretty sure Nathan himself, and probably the federation, wants that world record. That is the only reason why risking a 4Lz+3T combo in the second half would make sense. He will probably get it in the individual event if he skated the same way he did here especially if Yuzu had a perfect program, since he skates after Yuzu and they will up the scores for no reason as usual

As for the end result, it is pointless to discuss it when no one have skated yet. We can't foresee who will be clean and who will make mistakes. However, for our own mental well being, we should be prepared for the worst case scenario. Yuzu will do his best and things will happen as they happen. Getting upset now before the event even starts will only ruin our enjoyment of Yuzu's performance. Remember that every time Yuzu skates is a gift we should cherish so lets focus on that and ignore the rest for now.

You know what? I'm alright with him feeling salty, but if he is going to be critical, he should be critical towards all. It's unprofessional of him to direct that towards Shoma and then praise Nate to the moon.

Ok. Yes. I'm a bit doubtful of the source but I dun mind a heart attack if he will just appear.

Actually is Mana in Beijing? I will worry only after Mana is there and Yuzu is still not in sight.

I don't think she is. If she is not in the TE then there is no reason for her to be in Beijing now IMO.
