I really don't know what to do with this dorky boy.

On the one hand he is the first to speak up about danger and health risks, safety measures and conflicted feelings.

On the other hand he does everything in his might to make fans scream, freak out, collapse and nosebleed with tight clothes, thrilling music, sexy moves and what not :headdesk2:

As if he's testing the limits of our self-discipline... :13877886:

I never thought that I'd say this, but during this pandemic, I'm actually glad I can only watch him perform at home. First of all, it's safe. Second, it's free. And third, I can cheer and scream as much as I want to at home! :68468287:

I still can't with the fact that Mr rainbow-of-costume-colors, Yuzuru Hanyu, did wear THREE costumes in ONE ice show that are all black or white LOL.

Translation of what Yuzu said in the finale and the transcript.

Sorry, Zu, but today was funeral of my uncle who died because of complications after COVID, so I refuse to enjoy this cluster in-making.

He honestly looks so different here lmao. Like, first of all, that costume. It looks like he's going to the office. From first glance I thought it might've been Patrick or something. lol. Second, noodliness is nowhere to be seen. And also his hair. Not really used to this look 🙈

My condolences to you and your family 🙏

Yes, I totally get your feelings. It doesn't sit right with me either to see so many people being so close together in a crowded arena. Also the skaters touching each other and doing polonaise with no masks in the middle of a pandemic is extremely careless.

I'm actually surprised that Yuzu didn't wear a mask in the opening and ending. I wonder, if they were told to skate mask-less?

There are so many things to worry about... I remember, how hard we were fighting for the no-quarantine-no-worlds campaign, but retrospectively that "bubble" was still loads better than this mess...

I just pray with all my toes and fingers that they get out healthy and safe of this show marathon.

The January shows were not better.

The thing is, though I do worry, it is in Japan where levels of infection are much lower than in Europe BUT many skaters are just back from a potential cluster.

So I do have conflicted feelings. I hope no one will get contaminated.

tight is tight (or rather, one size too small LMAO) but it feels somewhat tame, after all the hype :P

You can see his nipple at the end here though

I gave up on human race at this point. Doesn't matter how much you wish or force them to respect distance, wear masks, stay in, etc. they will still do whatever they want and there will be no consequences for that because if someone does do something, they'll scream human rights, authoritarianism and politicians are terrified of those words.

My only comfort is that I am doing the best I can to take care of myself and others. I can't be responsible for what the others do in the end, doesn't matter how much of a stinky eye I give them in the supermarket.

I was positively surprised to see he chose to skate to Let's Go Crazy, because we haven't seen the program from him in the past four years and no one knew if he was still permitted to skate to the song. Now the mystery is solved. :)

The program is fun, and I'm happy we got at least some snippets and pictures today. These are another great Yuzu-related birthday present for me after the Sendai parade in 2018. I received a bouquet of flowers that is white and purple wrapped in purple paper, which is a complete coincidence too because my family doesn't know this will make me think of Yuzu today :68468287:

The white costume looks great under those lights - and he definitely filled out that costume even more lol.

Hoping everyone - skaters, audience, everyone else involved - will stay healthy in the next days :fingerscrossed:

Sorry for being moody but to be honest I have really mixed feelings about these ice shows. It's special to be able to see Yuzu every time we are able to see him... but I'm also worried... I'm not blaming the skaters, because of their obligations and various unknowns, and I really appreciate Yuzu speaking out about the situation, but the way these shows (and competitions) are being held in general is... not good. I just hope everyone gets through this safely and stays healthy... ;;

I agree. He looks like a real uncle. That hot uncle :sipping:

Yuzuru really trusts all the people there to have been careful uh? :squishedPooh:

////

I kinda trust the skaters, since their usual working environment is likely quite controlled, lately (aside the uncooperative few fellow skaters at WTT), but the thousands(?) people in the audience, have they been able to isolate before going there, and to stay somewhat isolated also during their transfer from their hometown to the rink? I can believe they tried, but trying and succeeding are different things.

I used to think Japan knew about asymptomatic spread and airborne transmission even with masks (especially since I usually don't see many filtering masks in those crowds) - but it really feels like many think masks&refraining from screaming make things safe, so they've kinda kissed goodbye to the social distancing and ventilation(which I reckon isn't easy to balance with the need to keeping the ice in suitable conditions.That's why there should be reduced crowd, or no crowd at all)

They're basically doing the same as in Russian iceshows - only with widespread use of masks. Which is of course better, but...

idk, I kinda wished Yuzuru did not give for granted that everyone has been really careful. And I also feel that I should trust him, and I know that he can't just say "please nope go back home I don't want you here", and I know that he can't be sigle-handedly saving the world from itself all the time, but just all of this sucks so much.

that's...kind of sad, now I think about that :laughing: but at least two of them have sparkles....

same, I'm having trouble recognising him dressed like that:embSwan:  it's such a North American "don't forget I'm manly" look, so typical SOI, and so not-Yuzu...

kinda makes me miss FaOI more, but glad that at least them had the good sense to put iceshows on hold (and really wish them a lot more success than SOI when they'll be back to business)

I won't lie. This is a wrong move to hold such packed events in these times and it is not expected from Yuzuru to contribute to such moves. Yes, he is thinking about bringing joy and hope to people at these times but this is not the place nor time. Even worse, it rubs people who lost a loved one in a wrong way. I apologize beforehand if this comment upsets anyone.
