KatjaThera
5 hours ago, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ said: *whole post* (too long to quote :P) Ok, to put a proper end to an interesting and fun debate that has probably outstayed its welcome lol First, yes, it's probably that our minds do work differently on some things, although most of the time I find myself agreeing with you 95% of the time. (And I also get the feeling out of place thing... which might be part of why I jumped into this wholeheartedly as well). That said, I get your arguments and understand them and do see better where you're coming from. I don't 100% agree, but it's still a pretty high percentage lol. I guess because I have some issues with JSF (and authority in general :P) I am ready to believe easily that they would do things like that. Aided by the fact that Yuzu was underage at the Olympics. However, I do doubt his mother would decide something like that against his will, even if it was an issue. I guess in a way I also wondered how bad could it - room conditions - be to cause something like that. But that's hypothetical talk again and not relevant. I do agree with you that he'd hate it and wouldn't want to do it. I also agree he wouldn't go as far as tell stories that didn't happen to cover up for it. Hiding the truth isn't really the same as lying, so that he might do, but telling made up stories... no. Anyway, I don't know if it's creative license. It's probably more that I haven't watched that interview again recently, so I'm not 100% sure what he said and I don't want to dismiss something without making up my own mind, first. Also there's still a possibility (0.0000000000001%) both he and Machida stayed elsewhere, where they were roomies But there's no real point in speculating any further, I guess, especially since if we didn't hear anything clearer by now, we probably never will. So, thank you for the debate, and I guess we'll let people get back to shorter posts about more recent issues lol Link to comment

If they were just the judges and the board members though, I would think some did go and see the SP. But that doesn't matter that much- the SP set a new WR, it was just an issue of whether or not he could break the old Seimei records. Which I guess our boy is looking to in CoR. Me either I didnt pay attention on that side at all during Sp where I sat on entrance side together with our group of satellites ( love love all of you ) hi @Xen thank you for coming early in the morning to take over for me and secured those taped seat and urged me to go eat st , and for the USB cable too , Link to comment

I was fast reading the thread, catching up, because it's about time to sleep already, and pretty entertained with all the variations of topics.. from sochi accommodation, to wine, to haunting/ghost, to Yuzu scared of thunder (how cute is that??). Anyway that article with Brian is so nice and heartwarming to read. You can sort of feel with him. How on one side he has to consider what he thinks is the right, most suitable strategy, but on the other hand, he can relate with Yuzu/he understands Yuzu's want and determination too, and that he doesn't wanna limit his growth and improvement. Loved the article! Just now, dreamelena said: I wonder if gloves was part of that heart-to-heart talk too.. I'm glad they've figured the best way of communicating now.. it'll sure help a great deal. It's unfortunate about the gloves. Yuzuru is so sensitive to everything I wouldn't be surprised if that threw him off (along with the new layout). He wore flesh-colored gloves at ice shows then switched to black for the competitions. So he always had gloves on for SEIMEI But as the mother of a 21 year-old, my first thought was "Pack your own dam#$ gloves!" And bring two pairs to the rink! Link to comment

KatjaThera
That Brian interview reminds me of a thought I had when people were saying they got Boston flashbacks. And that is that in Boston, Yuzu was alone - through self-isolation and really bad timing, as Javi had problems then, too, and Brian had to juggle them; but even if Javi hadn't had problems, I'm still not sure Yuzu would have really let Brian in, then. Now, he's not. He has a great team that is always there for him, in one way or another. So to me, it's very different. If anything, this might be like apparently Skate Canada 2015 was. Where he lost to Patrick, then went back to Toronto, asked to have his programs upgraded technically and next competition, he blew up the world records. He seems really fired up after this competition, and that should be exciting to watch... So bring on Russia! Link to comment

In my family (and many others I know), it doesn't matter who did the packing, Mom will always be the person we complain to if something was missing because Moms always have a solution (The mother's super power to make problems disappear ) Link to comment

I guess he wears gloves in Seimei for Biellmann (and he didn't do it this time) and hydroblade (although he can do it without touching the ice now!). It doesn't seem a big deal probably but can unsettle completely a perfectionist like him. Link to comment

Valkyria
I didn't have Boston flashbacks myself. The situation was so much different, with the low stakes, better (if not the best) physical condition and in a better place with his team. Even though there were similarities in how both skates went for Yuzuru and Javier and the end result, the atmosphere had nothing on Boston. There was no desperation, and no terrible regret afterwards (which I am so thankful for and think it's the most important thing going forwards ) Link to comment

He'll get a Pooh-rain anyway, but I agree, he should be looking forward to taking the revenge on himself (for better or worse, we'll see; personally, I agree that now he is mature enough to work with his team and put his emotions on the right track, even better than in 2015). I feel good about all this Link to comment
xeyra
The article above has some interesting tidbits: - Yuzu pays attention to competitions by Nathan, Shoma and Boyang. Of course he does. Probably pours over their protocols too. - There's tension in TCC paradise: "It's kind of an every-man-for-himself feeling right now with those two guys," Orser said. "I'm getting a feeling of a little bit of tension. They're competitors and it's normal." - I think Brian still prefers Javi's approach to things, much like last season. - He talks about previous Olympic experience being an asset to Yuzu (and Javi). It's my hometown and I remember one of my coworker talking about getting tickets because she wanted to see a particular Japanese skater. Too bad I wasn't a fan then. Link to comment
