This gets to the very heart of how Yuzu is viewed by the Japanese public.  He's not simply a skater but a major public figure who has significant moral influence in Japan.  In short, he can't afford to set a bad example.  That's why I went and found the dates of next season's world championships, discovering that they are fairly late in March.  That's good because I think Yuzu's presence in Japan will be almost mandatory for him as I think there will be those wanting him to take part in what I am sure will be a multitude of memorials and ceremonies commemorating the 10th anniversary of the earthquake on March 11th.

 

As far as access to ice Yuzu's in the same situation as almost every skater is right now.  There's no ice to be found unless you're Keegan and have it set up in your back yard.  Advantages to living in a natural icebox I guess.  All this means that everyone is going to be hard-pressed to ready themselves for next season, if it actually takes place.  If it does proceed as scheduled I think you'll find a lot of skaters resurrecting old programs.  That's the only practical way of dealing with the very unusual times we find ourselves in right now.

This shouldn't minor his achievement in Helsinki at all. It was an incredible performance with the right balance of angel and boss mode.

 

 

haha...so true...when he is skating competitively...he is in BIG BOSS mode for sure!!:hachimaki:
